An oxymoron question: Which is the cheapest & basic but also most stable/reliable media player able to play all those HD program's video and audio? Don't need fancy function and don't care what chip in it.
*
Stable & reliable? Nowadays, reliability is an issue because I notice failure rate of media player is rather high but that also depends on how you use it. I got one friend on his Egreat 7/24 but luckily only the adapter fried. Basically if you play a few hours a day it'll last you a few years but by then it's already obsolete. I'll recommend a Realtek 1055 based player since you mentioned cheapest. Make sure the manufacturer has good track records in updating their firmware regularly.

Dear Realtek Enthusiasts,

Egreat R6B will be available at your local store at Lowyat and Digital Mall PJ from next week onwards.

This unit will be sold at RSP RM229 only. It comes with 1 year warranty.

The performance is superb.

Before buy Realtek 1073 player. please check

-Realtek 1073DD+ chipset (support Truehd)
-Firmware need update to V4 SDK.

V4 SDK feature:
-support MKV mkvmerge V4.2 above
-support the pass through of Dolby True HD and DTS HD.
-lots of minor update.

Erm, I think the cheaper one is still based on the older 1073DD with no TrueHD sound decoding.

There's a thread for the Eaget I think, so better ask there for quicker response. I can only answer you on the HiMedia. So far am very happy with their firmware update support.

Don't go for cheapest, make sure manufacturer has good track record for firmware update. Otherwise end up with a very expensive paper weight like my Egreat 31B.

Am testing a set out now for a friend and am very impress

It does a lot of stuff that the original O!Play cannot do

1) Goto a particular time of a program
2) Stream or decode Dolby TrueHD and DTS Master Audio
3) Play files that pixelate on the Original O!Play

I'm impressed and at THAT Price (RM269)

Give it a try why don't you!! smile.gif

agree, himedia has a very strong firmware team to tackle bugs and new features add-on
and there are many customized / DIY non-official firmware can be found too
