i would really like wii users to comment on this.

i am gonna buy one but it bring me quite a headache thinking how to best buy the set that goes best with it. The restriction i put myself to isn't sky high price but enough to maximize the experience of playing wii.

From how much i heard is a person should just buy lcd tv to easily match the wii. But there a group would say to buy lcd monitor since it can be cheaper plus might be able to record the gameplay as well.

In the end, what you guys think?

I don't know. i use a 21 4:3 inch tube tv, and the expereicne is pretty ok, but but i heard lcd tv with component cables give the best resolution of 480p. i know i am not of any help on the best display experience, coz i don't have an lcd tv. but i like to make a statement that using tube tv ok is not bad - can still do a head shot on an enemy soldier from far far away in Call of duty - world at war game.

There's only 1 solution for Wii, a 852 x 480 res plasma TV, usually those 32" ones.

I saw a Wii on a HD CRT (Sony 29").

It looked fantastic.

That TV supported up to 1080i too, so can buy PS3 later to add on brows.gif

Not really, I was giving you the best solution, while paige was offering a budget no complain solution. The decision is yours really. Cheap and no complain or best?

I've both the LCD TV (32inch, HD-ready, 1360X768), and LCD Monitor (22inch, 1680x1050).

Wii supports max resolution up to 480p only (with component cable). The quality is much lower if u use normal AV cable.

Since it supports max only 480p, in order to get an acceptable graphic, u should NOT connect ur Wii to high-end TV/monitor(eg: full-HD), instead, u SHOULD choose from below in sequencial order:

1. Normal CRT TV (due to low resolution of the TV, it matches with the resolution of Wii)

2. Plasma TV (if u have older plasma TV series with resolution 800*600 roughly, or 1024*768, then still can consider match with Wii resolution)

3. LCD TV ("half-HD, means 1360*768 series, and must use component cable to get 480p out from Wii console)

4. High-end display (LCD monitor/full-HD LCD/plasma....etc), all will end up with pixellize graphic even if u use component cable, since Wii max output only 480p)

I myself am using 32inch LCD TV(1360*768) with component cable now, and it is still acceptable. (of cos u can't compare with Xbox360/PS3 as their max output is at a diff level).

Note: read from some reviews that if u rily wanna use ur LCD monitor, the best is to connect using the "VGA Box", which is something u need to survey by urself since i didnt pay much attention into it.

I am using my Wii on my Sharp LCD TV 32"
Honestly Wii does not need good tv.. as Wii does not support HDMI so normal
video input or a better choice of component set is more than enough...
Wii graphic is not high definition which compare to PS3 or Xbox 360...

sometimes ppl still prefer lcd tv although the quality look a bit blur especially with large size lcd.

the best result so far i think crt tv with hd ready which support 480p using component cable. we still can find 29" 4:3 crt tv with hd ready features (100hz, 480p,720p, etc). thats the best u can get for wii.

i also use the same setting. using samsung 29" crt set to progressive 480p 4:3. most of wii games support 480p except several games like naruto, trauma center, etc. playing mario galaxy with this setting look gorgeous.

No, XRGB isn't the best solution. I stick by my words, a 852 x 480 plasma, reason? It has 480 horizontal lines, perfect for 480p. And it has wide screen ratio, and some Wii games runs beyond 640 vertical lines on 16:9 mode, and that's the other advantage over 4:3 screens.

One of the more important issue is gaming lag. Some HDTV had high delay when outputting to tv. Samsung tv come with gaming mode which cut down the latency. Plasma also quite low in latency if you turn off frame interpolation and some dynamic color mode.

I play on 50" full HD plasma without any problem. About pixelation, if you stand 8' and above from the tv, I doubt you will see any pixel issue.

I have a 40 incher LCD that goes up to 1080p and honestly, the wii looks absolutely shite on it even with nintendo's component cables.
I connect my wii to an older samsung 32 inch widescreen crt tv which goes up to 1080i instead as it looks much much more acceptable on it.

That's why I said plasma 852 x 480, pixel to pixel mapping. Others may have very good, acceptable, or whatever result you get, but there's only 1 best solution, the rests are called better.
