One of the more important issue is gaming lag. Some HDTV had high delay when outputting to tv. Samsung tv come with gaming mode which cut down the latency. Plasma also quite low in latency if you turn off frame interpolation and some dynamic color mode.

I play on 50" full HD plasma without any problem. About pixelation, if you stand 8' and above from the tv, I doubt you will see any pixel issue.
