Management consulting companies like mckinsey&co, BCG and bain&co pay really well but at the same time, its ridiculously hard to get in. Accenture's strategic consulting business is not nearly as famous as its competitors (internationally). Correct me if im wrong.
Added on September 24, 2007, 4:12 pmAn additional comment that I would like to make here in response to a reply posted ages ago about its impossible to have a bank paying 3k/month salary to management trainee. It IS possible. HSBC offers 3k +1.2k housing allowances per month to management trainee, they just came to my uni and offered quite a few fresh graduates that deal.
Added on September 24, 2007, 5:56 pmAnd someone asked about MT's basic salary in CIMB. I was an intern in CIMB investment bank corporate finance, the basic salary was 2500 last year. In first year, you practically get near to 0 bonus. But in the second year, it goes up to 10 months or more. CIMB investment bank is providing MT investment banking experience while banks like Standard Charted and HSBC are providing their MT commercial/consumer banking experience. In the end of the day, it all depends on which career path you want to take in the future. Investment banking working hours would be around 100 hours per week if you are on the front office role, but they pay your very good bonus. I am not sure about the bonus paid by commercial banks, but I dont think they pay such good bonuses.

"btw MBA salary is depend on how u search for job..some my fren get 3k+ with no experience when first enter... i do get offer as Senior Executive with 3.5k but i turn down the offer as i need travel quite a distance to get there... i finally end up working in Benq with onli 5 min from my house laugh."
Then, that is your choice, isn't it? =.=. I don't see your point of complaining that the salary is low then because you were being offered a higher pay but you turned it down.
Added on November 18, 2007, 7:42 pmAnd, steven, do you mind sharing with me some of the coursework in your MBA ? I would also like to know how the course is being carried out because this is the first time I encounter someone who has done MBA straight after graduation from undergrad.

Were there many case studies based coursework? But, wouldnt the people who had work experience be able to apply their work experience better? I am surprised that you experienced seeing people who had work experience before doing MBA had a hard time in passing.

LOL, you must be really agitated when you wrote that. I do think that an MBA will give you an edge in the end of the day no matter when you do it. But, people will consider the opportunity cost of doing the MBA straight after graduation, which is most often associated with work experience.
