For me, grade is just an easy ticket for u to get an interview. But most of the time it depend on luck as well.

Offshore requires a person who can do their job independently and knows exactly what he is doing, as there are not enough space to accommodate a lot of people out there. Therefore you got to have related working background onshore first in order to work offshore.

For big company such as Jay Ray McDermott, Shlumberger, Baker Huges, Fugro, Halliburton, Shell and ect. the grade is a must before you can even be considered for an interview. But after you gain some experience offshore, I'm quite confidence you could switch any company you'd prefer of. Rite now experience people is hard to come by especially the oil price is increasing rapidly. Most people opt to become a freelancer thou, more flexible and more money as well.

What is ur background anyway?
