ANyone tried Canon 500D?Does its function user-friendly,better shortcut buttons, performance
if compare to D90??
Mind share?

Ya lor, if got sum money, considering to buy one of these camera...too many searching make my head pening

1st: dun nid to open new thread to discuss this, discuss in Canon or any of Nikon thread

2nd: D90 is a higher end model compare to 500D, D90 is more on par with 50D, so it's not a fair fight to compare D90 with 500D

well, I think its fair to compare these two models.. everything is comparable.... I find no reason not compare these two..

anyway, back to ts..

If u want the video function more than picture quality.. 500D is better..
IQ wise nikon D90 is better a bit, i prefer the colour saturation more...

deep down inside, D90 has a better ergonomics.. while 500d feels plastic..
TS should go n try out instead of asking blindly over here =)

try comparing 1000D with D3, lol

To an extend you can compare both of these models.. yes everything is comparable, but is it fair? Haha.. Of course you can compare a proton and a BMW.. But the outcome is so predictable...

D90 IQ better, nice ergonomics, good built, good noise control, better kit lens, top lcd screen (which is damn useful to me).. goes on and on..

Yesh you two are correct but when you compare two things , means that you're able to afford it right? =) or not why would you want to compare it =)

photographers do.

even if u're using damn high tech slr,
but if u dont have the talent or feel inside the subject ,
it will become worthless.

u should meet those two eye to eye.

like i said. cameras dont take pictures.
they just make it easier, more convenient and adding some spice inside the subject.

lets jz say like this,
a good photographer can take nice pics if he/she is using D40 or D3
but now is jz talking about cam specs
im trying to justify 500D
cos if compare with D90, 500D jz cant fight with D90 in terms of specs
but that doesnt mean 500D is not a good camera right?

Canon and Nikon do not make cameras that are exact replicas of each other when it comes to specs. A camera from one side will have less or more features from the other's camera.

D90 can be considered a semi-pro premium entry-level body, whereas the 500D is a second from bottom entry-level body.

Budget isnt a issue. Most important is the quality and skills of photographers.
I did tried my fren's D90 and i found that it's a worth gadget to buy in terms of it's IQ, lens,pic quality,user friendly buttons n etc.

The reason why i open up this Thread is because i didn't personally tested canon 500D and this model is quite new in market n demand is not bad.

i tested 500D b4...what features is better than the D90 is the live view tech and the HD movie....IQ is good, if u shoot RAW then u hv to need a lot HDD for it, becoz the RAW file roughly = 18-20MB.

just would like to add here.... - in chase jarvis's case he proved a point by shooting with his iPhone.

I tried before.
test at shop side by side, between 500D & D90
actually my orginal budget is 500D..but after tested 500D, im not happy with the built quality..like cheapo plastic. I felt more comfort when grab D90. The viewfinder also much better.

at last bought the D90

in term of function Im not really sure, but from the spec comparison D90 is better than 500D.

You should compare D5000 with 500D and D90 with 50D

doesnt matter. 500D sure pawn D90 with its lighter & smaller body =P

lol, some ppl do prefer smaller bodies...
but i like to hear some ppl say 1000D "pawn" 1D becos 1000D is smaller, lol

i like lighter bodies but not smaller....

so same size but build with lighter material?
maybe is jz me, i feel that Canon bodies r lighter than Nikon
not to say lighter means not good...
