im thinking of a zoom lens recently.. need to breakthrough my usual 17-50mm Range... hvnt even exceed 70mm before

i hv a bad time shooting zoo animals with range below 70mm (kit lens)... therefore i skip the Zoo outing....n join the next week Flash workshop I very want to venture into Zoom range lens oredi .... wats the nice lens to start with?

Most important is do ur homework.. check out wat suit you the best... money/usage/ mayb even kakis...(if many of ur friends using certain brand)... any many other factors.

When I first wan to get a dslr... I oredi set my eye on Canon 400D.. 1st. bcause of the "BRAND" i oredi know it even b4 i done any research. 2nd. bcause im using Canon pns camera before this. Then when i finally go through some research... I come out with few options... 400D / A100/ pentax K100... from there i finally decided A100 for this few reason:

1. Cheaper compare 400D (during that time)
2. 18-70mm (better range n better kit lens)
3. SSS (long term saving in IS/VR lens... I know i wont be Professional journalist or whoever that rely cari makan with camera)
4. Better grip for my hand...n better body buildquality..
5. Minolta technology n Sony (believeing in its quality control) , can get some old , but excellent minolta lens..(end up i din buy any minolta lens )
6. No friends playing dslr that time... im the first one.. so i din get any influence from others.. 100% own decision.. n still im glad with my decision... hehe

On other hand. I know the Noise level for the A100 unable to beat the 400D... but the above reasons is enough for me to decide wat i want.
So end of the day.. get what suit u best.. n Not following wat ppl generally SAY!

Wow.... din know a bokeh can be so much different.... it makes me take note of "watever that is OOF" now in my photo...

Both superb photos!! nice real closeup.... using wat zoom lens? agree with achew, 1st photo more conservative.. if can capture it roar/yawn will be good.. 2nd photo is cute... potential winning tupai hehe

haha.. the tiger better go for the "Tiger Potrait" the yawning one r blur u notice tat too.. Faster shutterspeed..keke

The rhino.. like focusing at the 2nd rhino instead of the front rhino... The leopard sleeping was good.. love the colour..

Hard choices... but i'll still stick with A700 (or replacement model)... A550 make fully use of liveview.. if u don need them.. i suggest A700 still a better one. But then.. A550 iso performance better...But the A700 build quality.. give me enough reason to stick with that..

oh finally found ur A700 ! Mcken guy.. he PM me last week asking me if im still looking for A700.. I knew he could find buyer here. Firmware not a problem.. is rather easy to update.. i update mine from V3 to V4.

Thanks albert for the great A550 review.. nothing compare to the High iso performance that impress me... at iso 3200, it is still SO CLEAN!! very very useable.! really a breakthrough for sony...

HDR function could b very useful for landscape.. But using it with "moving objects" like how u did with the human moving away.. oso can create unexpected interesting image. keke

I dont really sure what the improvement on the liveview compare to the A300 since i nvr use LV b4.. Just know that it can magnifiy 100% when doing MF. But it seems to be the most advance LV dslr in d market now.

So happy that there are still ppl appreciate the A100 Love the camera... I omost letting go of it...till i decided to keep it myself. Wonder will this camera last me for another 10 years.. If i din use it long time, will it bcome malfunction?? like car din warm up

I just took out out my A100 to play play while charging my A700 battery just now... & suddenly i feel so weird to hold my A100 again..especially d front scroll...it feel.. small n hard to scroll.. Must use it once a while if not scare later donno how to use it anymore...



I got a question... When i look into my A100 viewfinder...I saw a few blackdots in it... when i move my eye away a bit from d viewfinder i can see a line (like smkind of stain) on the viewfinder..

it is not dust on the sensor as it doesnt appear on my photo... Check d mirror n it look clean too... Clean the outer glass of the viewfinder oso is clean.. Not sure wat was it & where is the stain stick to... Could it be Fungus growing inside the camera?

Suprisingly i saw a raise in A100 demand.. I think a bit high...unless d condition is really really excellent like new.. if not it should be round rm 1.2- 1k like tat
