spot metering will follow ur focus point, unless ur focusing not on ur subject, then u still have live view to figure the exposure out (u cant rely on the metering-bar anymore)

hkhk: photoshop is optional, but the photo lovexoxohug showed the color is edited. u cant shoot that color directly from the camera. smile.gif instead of trial and error (indirectly, wasting shutter) shot one raw, edit ur heart content out smile.gif

shooting trial and error is for learning the setup method. but once u get the rough figure, or if u know what to do to shoot, u wont go and shoot 10 picture just to find the right one, post processing is the key smile.gif

*edit: also, my picture above, shot at iso100, with F5.6, environment is like a bar/pud/cafe... with no post processing, just the framing.

so, let ur imagination run wild, iso100, F5.6 in a pub lightning environment. smile.gif

ohhh, forgotten, i dont have exp with A700 sad.gif so lack of the knowlegde of it. but if i recall, they have a preshot something, that u can set ur setting after the preshot to see the result of the new setting on the new shoot?

Added on October 5, 2009, 2:14 amopps, wtf am i talking about >.< okay, just let me assume, most new users, are using A2xx,3xx inculding Ax30 series, those who have liveview, and are starters, so LV would be a good option to learn.

those who dont have the luxury of lifeview, 99% that, u guys own a camera that shows u guys are experinced user tongue.gif so... LV make no diff for u guys. hehehehe...

dont worry, try to use ur instinct, and train it. here is an instinct shot i hav (wedding job i had yesterday), which LV is erm, unable to use/see.

LV for me, i use it for the mirrorflip to close the OVF when i shot long exposure, i cant stand near it to cover the OVF(may shake it), so if the miror did not close it, unwanted light will go in from OVF.

i think the dof is not enough, too shallow, if only u can have new more batang of matches to be clear, except the burned one (let it be bokeh). it brings better msg.

for me.."usual" shots for portrait / landscape would b on aperture priority(most of the time) / shutter priority..depend on the need...

for macro..or anything else that need me to setup on lighting..i'd use full manual on both my exposure and flash power due to limited equipments/space..lol

achew: In Wide Area AF it will just pick any combination of AF points that work. Try it!

does that mean i should just compose my shot n focus it(wide AF)?(assuming my subject isnt placed at the extreme sides)..coz i usually focus with the center point n recompose..

I find Wide Area AF usually kinda knows what I'd want to focus on. The point of Wide Area AF is that you don't recompose and cause user-induced focusing shift error.

i nvr really use wide area AF unless im shooting landscape or group photo with higher F numb. Just now i give it a try on how this Wide Area AF can tell apart wat i may want to focus.. but seems like doesnt really work for me.. usually it just focus ... in between objects... alang alang... sweat.gif could be different style of shooting. or does this has to do with AF between A900 n A700? mayb could be im not using a telelens.. ? till now seem the local AF still works best for me

One question about warranty.

Let's say we buy 2nd hand Sony Alpha Camera/Lense/Flash and the seller's warranty card is blank and not register at MySony, do we get full 1 year warranty from the date we put on the warranty card ?

Sony CIC based the warranty date on which criteria ?
- invoice/receipt date
- warranty card date
- MySony Registration date
