actually on the ori mat, it already stated dun put double mat, cause it may slippery and cause accident.

but who care, ori too easy get dirty and cannot clean easily

Well, I got the statement only once during the Toyota hot recall period of double mat. After that, they just don't give a f*** (I guess) - no more such statement even I still maintain. Anyway I'm not as stupid as those American noob drivers or Toyota lawyers. Have been driving with double mat for 2 decades and nothing happen.

The real stuff that causes pedal stuck accidents are those wearing lady's high heels when driving.

Hey guys, did you all encounter any difficulty in shifting from P to R for the transmission?
*
Before you stop your car from D/R to P, first go to N, then handbrake, then release your legbrake (for explanation purpose). Your car front wheel will moves a little to a 'relax' position. By this time then shift to P and shutdown your car.

If you do: from D/R to P while legbraking, then the next time going away from P will have difficult time depending on how the incline degree of the road (or how steep the slope is).

My mat is kind of heavy, so it hardly slips at all. And during press/de-press pedal I don't drag along the mat as well (my heels are the pivot point).

Some people having idling problem when DIY battery changing.

So for the same reason, I'm guessing, disconnecting the terminal should have similar effects.

Then hwo to solve the idling problem? send back to service center? yeah i have the idling problem after battery kong! any advice! i no drive the car for 1month
*
After I think about for quite some long time, here's my speculation:
1. before your battery die, obviously electric power is not 'enough'.
2. due to 1, probably combustion is not perfect (spark not strong enough?), and the cylinder is 'dirtier' than usual.
3. because of this, idling is unstable - probably ECU trying to adjust the inputs (air, fuel, spark timing) to have a better combustion.

Solution, whack your car! i.e. Floor the pedal kau kau, until 6.5krpm (for 1 or 2 bars fuel). Better if with Shell V-Power 97.

Have I tried it? Not sure. But I did have idling problem very recently (after prolonged (3~6 months, can't remember) turtle driving). I was shock why that happen as I didn't change battery at all. So I just try flooring pedal for 2 days (to/from work). After that, back to normal.

Floor the pedal = press the accelerate pedal all the way until touching the floor/wall. wink.gif

Of course not all the way. If clear of traffic, then zoom all the way. Esp on highway or just after toll.

1 or 2 bars... just the avg fuel consumption for doing semi-aggressive driving. Semi-aggressive (for me) means accelerate real hard when condition allow without provoking potential accidents.

And the 1 or 2 bars, just coincide with my 2~3 work days.

ohhhh... so each time floor pedaling must over 6.5krpm la? You floor pedaling got open A/C or not? I goin to try later, Ron95 ok ?
*
Just floor it. Don't worry about the RPM. Everything as normal - radio on, A/C on. I was on RON95 but RON97 should be better for the engine.

What is your criteria for choosing Vios? Think carefully. Vios is rough & noisy but very good as a simple work horse.

will go to test drive the Latio and see the result again this weekend.

Latio will be damn quiet vs Vios; but it is like a moving potato - it is less lifely than Vios. Well many says Vios alone is lifeless & dull already - imagine Latio is worse than Vios.

Go downhill just shift to 2. 3 for faster curve.

Higher chance of brake failures if heat catches up - if you use the brakes often from genting top to bottom, don't say we never warn you, your brakes might fail.

Besides saving fuel, the engine braking is mainly for safety (and also indirectly somewhat save your brake pads but that's not important).

It feels that for Vios the lockup-clutch works on gear 1 2 3 only. So when you are in these 3 gears while downhill - it will depends on the engine friction & gearing ratio. Even if you are on 2 if the downhill is steep enough, you can reach 80+. But if you are on the 4th... the whole car feels like free fall.

My experience in going Genting downhill with Vios is that, most of the time I only use 2, 3 occasion for long less-curvy roads.

Our Super-ECT only works on 3 & 4 - it will auto downshift to 3 when you press brake on downhill even though the car speed is on 4th-able gear. And will not simply from 3 to 4 when hill climbing. Too bad it doesn't work in 2 & 3.

p/s: The behavior above is Vios G dugong '07. Not sure about previous gen.

The Vios engine is 'louder' when hill climbing on 2000~2500 rpm. After that it is 'softer'. But of course, higher RPM progressively will be louder. It is just in that particular RPM range the engine roars greater. doh.gif
