hi im the new owner of vios j spec....jus wanna ask fellow members here tat i plan to change to 17" rims without disturbing the comfort ride...i mean without changing the suspension..is tat possible..becoz my fren told me i mus lowered my ride to make it sexier....any idea? would love all kinds of comments positive n negative as well..thanks!
*
no u can't sure it will disturb the comfort quality... although if you use more comfort tires you will not feel a lot of difference.... but you are paying more for the tires and also ur FC will be affected too... for me safety much important than sexy ride...

tune lower a bit on the front and change slightly harder shock...
change to 195/55 R15 tires choose those high end tires... about RM250/ tires, but if you upgrade to 16" or 17" rims u can only get lower end tires on those budget... better tires will cost you above RM350/pc...
it will improves your car handling (with better tune suspension system) and safety (better grip on the tarmac) with better tires...

i heard some review for toyota cars, the throttle body or sensor cannot simply be service because too sensitive. if u clean and wipe it off with cloth.. later the cloth tread stuck there.. it might affect the car... tat y my 7 years old++ camry never do it before... time for some major touch up...

i feel my current vios condition not smooth especially press the gas pedal.. the rev like dont want to higher... possible to be engine oil too dirty or not lube enough?
*
well u can ask them to service it for you in the SC... my fren did it and the response of the accelerator is much better after service... but it cost you around RM100/time...

185/60 R14 is a lil wider but the height of the tires is the same... is your choice... stick to 175/65 R15 or change to more common size 185/60 R14...
for me i'll change to more common size coz got more brands/models to choose from...
185/60 R14 u can get a lil performance tires like Michelin PP2...
then comfort performance u can go for Falken 912...
others comfort tires like Michelin XM1/Certis, Toyo Teo Plus, Bridgestone AR10, Goodyear Ducaro GA or even Sime/Silverstone and others...
depends what you want...

for me Michelin PP2 and Toyo Teo Plus is good but pricey... about RM200/pc... then Falken 912 comes into play, should be around RM170/pc... after that Michelin XM1/Certis... and others is my last resorts... there is 1 new comer from Continental, CC5 which replaced CC1 in entree level like XM1, Ducaro GA...

your call to take which...
I'm still considering which to change for my old toy soon... 185/60 R14 also... if not i'll upgrade to 15" to get better performance tires...

i 'm eyeing for falken 912 for long time...
*
haha then give it a go... just monitor it's pressure well, if not you will have problem on the size thread wear rate...

QUOTE(kdashmy @ Dec 16 2010, 10:34 AM)
yesterday i run 150km at highway, i feel float and like the wind is blocking my way, and i feel the steering is not hard.....

14" rim original tyre
e spec with trd bodykit.
*
150km/h is fast already and with the lighter car of course u felt like floating la...
even u change to 17" also you will feel like that... of course if you lowered ur ride then different a bit la...
but the weight of Vios, around 1 tonne... it is a light car...

well that is after some time of usage... those things will happen on others tire also... after 50% u can see the difference...
if you compare with higher range of course you will feel like that but if you compare to 14" tires that UMW is giving you then it is slightly better...
pls don compare with PS3, V12, RE001, T1R and some others... those are performance range... ignore others like NCT5, D-01, MY-01, Exellence and some others so call performance tires also those are craps...

hard to say... i never used Certis b4... that is depends what pressure is ur tire...

QUOTE(kenji1903 @ Dec 17 2010, 01:55 PM)
different people have different tolerance to speed... i drive 140kmph with my City VTEC and a relative's Stream (older 2.0 version) i a bit scared cos not stable, though it can go more but i don't dare...

i test driven the Golf GTI and sprinted for a while in Federal highway with 4 other adults... that's what i call stability... i tekan from 60kmph to 120kmph, no wind noise... but the tyres a bit loud... if highway i have no idea how much i will tekan, wahahahha biggrin.gif
*
haha... that is different... even my 13 year old toy (hatchback) is better than a lot of car's in stability and built quality tongue.gif
cos it weight 1.3++ tonne, up to 160km/h all the way never felt floating b4...

Does the TRD bodykit really affects performance? Like stability and acceleration. Or is it mainly cosmetic?
*
yes and no... stability a lil but why body kit give you acceleration haha... well you have a wrong concept...
I believe partially it is for cosmetic look but the spoiler does gives you a lil more stability under higher speed... but subjective la...

Hi Folks,

I have a question.  I have a 2005 Vios.  I am planning to change my rims.  Would 15" or 16" be better?  I call up the shops and one of them told me that 16" will hit the inside when doing U-Turn.  Is that true?  Thanks in advance. smile.gif
*
it depends on your rim's offset only...
i would say if you want cheaper tires stick to 15"... 15" good tires will cost you around RM200~300, but 16" good tires is Rm300 and above...
yes you can tell me u can get as cheap as RM200 for 16" tires but then i'll call you cheapo... coz that tells me you wanna save RM400 and risk you life tongue.gif

look for better performance tires for your car, you can better dry/wet traction and of course the most important is the shorter braking distance in wet...
for cheaper tires u depends on your luck...

QUOTE(kazami @ Jan 7 2011, 08:08 PM)
anyone change windscreen before?
my car roadtax going to expired early of next month. i have windscreen insurance covered and now my screen got crack/stone chip (already 1 year). now plan to change it... i called toyota, they quote me Rm1100 and the sales advisor said they can do it outside for rm800 but under toyota also... just now i called another mirror shop, they quote Rm800... anyone can get windscreen + tint for RM800?
*
no try Shah Alam UMW Toyotsu at Sek 15 just nearby the UMW cop... changed around RM900 only, around last year May... to save RM200 i better go to UMW service center... anything you can wack them as you like...
