QUOTE(OrCaGaL @ Jun 21 2010, 12:54 PM) o ya...i forgot to mention that xb500, the soundstage is not that good. not as wide as the vb. Hmm well, if it's any consolation, the Sony XB500 is actually about the same price as the Hippo VB, despite being full sized cans.

QUOTE(rickrick @ Jun 21 2010, 03:11 PM) hi my budget is around rm150, currently looking at Sennheiser HD201 & 202 But I'm concern on HD201 lack of bass, can I pair it with Fiio E5 and get more bass out of HD201? Or shall I just buy 202? And please don't recommend anything more than rm150, lastly I really like HD201 looks compare to HD202 ( will be using it outdoors ). HD201 using for outdoors? well that would be too big would it? why dont u try clip ons such as Koss KCS75? most of the ppl think is bang for bucks headphones (well clip phones really) and i think that is more suitable than using hd201 outdoors... bass wise... i will say u'll be satisfied with KCS75.... do some research about it....

I'm only into Headphone now since i already have earphone and clip ons. Anyone have personal experience with HD201 with Fiio E5? Would like your personal feedback on it"

Would like your personal feedback on it" i owned fiio e5 but i only audition hd201 without fiio e5.... like usual... hd201 got sennheiser signature, the laid back type signature and i do find the bass is quite enough for me.... i would dare to say pairing with fiio e5 would really tighten the hd201 bass and make the bass sound cleaner.. but this is not the case... HD201 for me are really big and not really portable IMHO.... why dont u give IEMs a try... ? they isolate well and no or less sound coming out and also portable. u might want to try Soundmagic PL21 for the price rm100 or rm80 (cant remember, i bought it last year) its a balance phone with added bass for kicks... just suggesting.... as i dont think portability is wise if ure using HD201

No you can't lol, I know cuz I've tried (you'll end up squishing the cushions). IEMs are better suited if you actually go to sleep with music on, or a proper set of speakers. But yeah the XB500 has really big bass, but luckily doesn't drown out TOO much. Then again, those who prefer clarity/details are better off getting something else. =\ Of course, one of the best things about Sony's XB series is that the leather (?) cushions are damn comfy. Hye guys, I have quite a bit of a headache now... been researching about headphones for 2 days now... lemme give an intro to my problem..
I dont know if I'm an audiophile or not... but i certainly appreciate good monitor and great headphones/earphones.. I'm the kind of person that always crave for good sounds... treble doesnt effect me much, but good bass always make me smile... and i like to hear a music in full clarity...
Few months ago i decided to buy Steelseries 4H.. which is really really seriously crap... the sounds are clear alright, but the bass suxs big time.. almost no bass at all... being a college student, i dont have much money.. so i have to put up with it until i have money to buy another... this time i dont want to regret it again... the headphone is really annoying to me... almost the biggest regret i have ever... i hope you guys can help me this time...
As reference, the best IEM I have is the Sony Noise cancelling earphones that came bundled with Sony MP3 player ( current model is MDR NC-22 ).. I got it in 2006 when it first came out i think... the bass totally shook my brain and i could almost feel it with heart.. hehe.. the bass isnt loud, but feel compact and detailed...
I also had Sonic Gear Kryptonite II from a few years ago... i think it's an open headphone that surrounds my ear... open circumaural i think... bass is good enough but the clarity is excellent.. i would have bought another if i could find it.... both are defective now, so i'm looking for a new one...
Shortlist so far is -Senheiser HD448 -Denon AH-D1001 -Shure SRH440 & SRH240 -Beyer Dynamics DT231/235 -Philips SHE9850 ( i dunno if this is good, some review good, some not ) -Grado SR-80i ( i heard it's not comfortable?? )
My budget is around rm500.. either headphone or IEM is fine... would rather spend less if it fit my needs... main purpose is music..
Researching with internet gives me a good idea of what i should buy, but trying it myself would have probably helped a lot.. so i'm hoping that someone can help me from experience or something...also plan to get Asus Xonar.. what u guys think about the soundcard?.. is it worth the upgrade from motherboard's sound?... thanks in forward...
p/s: Sorry for the long post... I want to be as specific as i can...
