For your budget do give the Audio Technica studio monitoring series a try. smile.gif M30 is a good start.

Yeap, the M30 should come by to be your liking. It wouldn't be overly boomy, giving out strong bass, and does isolates a little with the pads it uses as well. smile.gif

Really ah? Sennheiser HD201 i heard about good reviews but the bass really disappointed me. Am afraid M30 will be a disappointment? hmm.gif

Hello audiophiles and experts. I’m a noob when it comes to high end audio, and I’m thinking of getting myself a “proper” pair of earphones. I’ve been reading all 74 pages in this topic in the past 2 days, but am still not sure of what to get, therefore I need some recommendations. unsure.gif

What I am using now: The earbud-type earphones that came bundled with my Creative XFi XMod soundcard (from pictures I’ve seen on the net, it looks like Creative EP-480). The new earphones must at least be equivalent to this, but I think with this budget, it should be no problem… Before this, all I had was some cheapo China made generic ones and also the one that came with my Nokia.

I have been quite satisfied with this Creative earphone for its first 3 months, until they started falling apart (both sponges got lost, one side is louder than the other, and after 1 year, it starts to “bunyi pecah”). Therefore one of the requirements for this planned new one is that it must be reliable.

My hardware (soundcard): Creative X-Fi XMod, Creative X-Fi Surround 5.1, and some generic Realtek and AC97 onboard soundcard on my PCs. Also, Nokia N82.

Type of usage: Music (70%), movies (20%), gaming (10%).

Source: mostly mp3, some of them low quality.

Type of music: Rock (modern & classic rock, heavy metal, nu metal, etc), electro & hip hop (rarely - 10%). [I guess that makes me basshead?]

Preference: IEM only. Earbuds can’t seem to stay in place in my ear.

Budget: RM60-80, can to go up to 100 if I have to.

After reading the posts here, and doing some research on trade zone on what’s available online, I compiled the following list of choices within my budget:
Creative EP630 RM55
JBL Reference 220 RM60
SoundMagic PL30 RM90+ RM100
SoundMagic PL20/11/10 RM60
SoundMagic PL21/MP21 RM80
Koss Sparkplug RM89-120?
Hippo Pearl RM100
Razer Moray RM90
*I see that SoundMagic is highly recommended, but how is its build quality and reliability?

Also, how much better are these over-my-budget IEMs than the ones listed above? If they’re at least 25% better, I might consider them:
Altec Lansing MHP136/MHP216/MHP306 – RM128
ATH CK-32 / ATH CK300M RM129
Hippo Boom Bundle RM150
AKG K321 RM134

Besides those above, what about other manufacturers like Philips, Pioneer, Panasonic, Logitech etc should I consider?

Thanks for your very fast reply, but those are not in-ear (iem) type which I want...

The ones I shortlisted in my post above are my target right now based on all the recommendations I found in this topic, and basically my main question in the post was which one of those I listed would be suitable for my needs, as well as other suitable (if any) products which I have not found.
