That's fine, I understand that, but still... I nearly laughed out loud at the price in Singapore.
The SGD figure quoted in Singapore, was the same figure in MYR I have paid for my pair.

*shudders*
Perfume is cheaper in Singapore though, if you know where to get them.
*
living in states, Durian is cheaper in Malaysia for me nothing to laugh about.
gone to Italy and a pair of timberlands boots EUR$300 while in states I can find usd$50... its a norm all over the world nothing to go LOL about.
Neuhaus chocolates cost a bomb in asia (maybe rm300 for 300 gm) but when I go Belgium 1 kg is like eur$20 buy 3 kg and its eur$50.

Construction wise, neither of those brands would qualify as real men's shoes as defined by TS. So it would just come down to the aesthetics.

IMO, HP is the less ugly of the two.
*
Real men do not need shoes to define them.

Navy seal wear such boots, they not real men? They not English gentleman

So basically all bespoke shoes here are from europe, any from other country which are more affordable?
*
Define affordable? by bespoke u looking at RTW (ready to wear) or MTO (made to order)?
RTW not hard to be affordable if u mean cheap, MTO different story. There are MTO makers in Vietnam or Indonesia offering jobs at lower price point but you may not like the workmanship. Then again good workmanship come at 2-5x the price. Really depends on preference. If u rough and beat up your shoes spending big $$ on these nice shoes may not be worth it.

I am sure there are china ones such as the below, but no reviews.. so do your research WELL!

Shipping seems expensive though. Assuming I were to get 2 of these, how much would the shipping be per pair?

Anyone tried the shoe trees from Muji? It's about RM 105, red Cedar wood but made in China.

I think it's this one.

I read ppl buying on taobao too, didn't seem to have issues with MIC shoe trees. Even its fake cedar it will not remove odor but keep shape.

Thanks for sharing. There's some fellow member looking for a nice shoe tree.
Perhaps can do a group purchase to get the free shipping over $50  smile.gif

It's only free shipping in USA, you will have to use a mail forwarder. Shipping cost various depending on who you use

Locally they go for rm$110 each
https://iprice.my/woodlore/

If shipito is accurate then 4 pairs at usd$27 shipping cost will run each tree at usd$19.50 each or rm$82, 8 pairs usd$18

dei. bad lasts meaning it looks terrible to me. i didnt say the fit. Also, actually try EGs and SCs before saying they are "bad" lasts.
*
You meant the shape of your foot looked terrible?

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Last
QUOTE
A last is a mechanical form that has a shape similar to that of a human foot. It is used by shoemakers and cordwainers in the manufacture and repair of shoes.

*
Loake cheaper range made in India but a little higher than your budget. A lot of brands does GWY in India, China.

Shop online try wolverine 1883 they mostly made in Portugal but also moving to china. not many brands out source there, Portugal work not bad

If u hunt on eBay maybe can find Allen Edmond factory seconds that's in your budget. If u don't mind little defects and made in USA

Well, I'm just asking for opinions around here. Is that price too exorbitant for a pair of loafers?

Affordability is not the issue here, but rather whether you guys have seen better deals for designer shoes elsewhere, which may be more "bang for buck".
*
designers shoes are never best "bang for the buck" in term for quality. many made in Italy using blake welt. they do sell glued sneaker and shoes. U paying for the designer name to show U can afford to spend for a "inferior" product.. or tell ppl "hey I am a carrot"!

for quality go for Bespoke/MTO shoes and show U can really afford and blow 11K+
http://www.styleforum.net/t/512506/mto-vs-bespoke-shoes

like many has stated, ppl here are not into designer and pay for marketing over quality
