Seen a similar designed box at one of the teak shops in Plaza Damas . Make sure they are lined with an inner cloth otherwise you may find snags etc on your clothes

The prices they charge in Indonesia, I want to be personally stimulated at the very minimum

For several million rupiah the left shoes should be fitted by Cut Tari & the right by Luna Maya !!

There is a shoe shop near my hotel and they sell the COMPLETE RANGE OF BURGOL AND SAPHIR WAXES!!!!!!!!!!!

I bought Burgol in bordeaux and Saphir Medaille d'or in navy. Bordeaux gives black shoes extra depth and navy gives nuance to antiquing efforts.

Does the shop carry any decent shoes?

Pupjoint,

Just PM you with the address.
Not sure if you will be able to buy the shoes in Indonesia as all the components are imported duty free and the company is obliged to re-export them. If they are keen on mail order business it might be one way for us to get our hands on it without going to Japan

Didn't see anything interesting, some Loakes at uncompetitive prices, but I wasn't interested in the shoes.

It's the small things that matter! They sell Falken socks. A wool/cotton pair was going for 10 Euros.

Try finding navy shoe polish in Malaysia! I'll suk your dik if you're successful!
*
The thought revolts me so I won't attempt to search for any Navy shoe polish!!

Guys,

Anyone know where I can find decent and good wooden shoe stretchers and sprays in KL?

Something like this
http://www.amazon.com/Bravo-fit-Shoe-Stret...84740947&sr=1-5
*
Saw one from Dasco at Isetan KLCC sometime back. Can't recall the price but don't think it was cheap. Perhaps it might make sense for you to have this done professionally

Manufacturing defect or accident?

It's difficult to say without physically seeing the shoe to ascertain it's construction. Offhand it doesn't look hopeful

thanks for your reply.

that was due to man-made accident. i was wondering if i can use some sort of shoe clay to cover it, follow by polishing to reduce the eyesore.
*
Not sure if it's worth doing anything to it . As Kotmj suggested , why don't you try polishing it to lessen the effect of the dent before doing anything else? I will also pm you a place that was recommended to me by a friend who may be able to help you with this.

i'm seeing prices from RM100 to few Gs, how you guys define quality in shoes?

i recently bought a pair of handmade from Thomas Chan and it's by far the best fitting pair i've ever own, and it's not even custom made. The price is only RM279 (from 399) after discount.

so how do you actually grade a shoes? material? durability? craftsmanship?

Bally is offering MTM Scribe shoes at the HK Flagship store located at the IFC Mall.
40% premium as compared to their RTW Scribes . This bring the MTM shoes close to John Lobb's RTW price range.

The Red Whole cuts in mid brown & the whole cuts in red look interesting

Nice stuff- what colors did you get them in? The browns , especially the Cedar colored ones will acquire a nice patina after it is suitably aged.
Where did you buy them from?

most of u talking bad about LV shoes has obviously never hold , tried and inspect one closely before laugh.gif

you guys arent talking from experience rather baseless assumption that designer product from brand such as lv must be selling overpriced low quality crap
*
It's also obvious that you know little about quality shoes apart from what is currently worn by some celeb.

1. LV makes luggage . The luggage they manufacture is rated highly especially the vintage pieces which are very collectible.
2. Check out Styleforum. You may find that LV shoes are made by the same factory that makes some of the lesser brands
3. Given the price one pays for an LV, one could possibly buy an entry level Edward Green.

Here's a challenge:- buy both the LV & Edward Green , wear both shoes normally with usual care ( polish , cleaning ) Let's see which shoe holds up after 3 years of use.

With all due respect, for me, it's personal opinion, LV stuff just do not agree with me aesthetically. Even when I do buy branded stuff, i do not like a HUGE label of their brand anywhere on the product, I do not believe in providing free advertising for them tongue.gif
*
Agreed. Why pay a high price for all the marketing & hype. I have some Church's coming to 15 years of age & they are still wearable with a lovely patina that takes time to acquire. Don't think the LV or armani shoes will survive all the wear & tear.

To put it simply, when a man has self confidence & taste there is no need for him to vulgarly display the brand of clothes he is wearing.

Buy wisely, buy quality & one will save money in the long run . You may not be fashionable but you'll always be well dressed.

The sales person responsible for the Bally Scribe Made to Order Service amazes me.
1. He didn't know the difference between an Oxford, Derby & Whole Cut
2. He was trying to fit me in one of the standard Scribes lace ups for the double monks I was going to order under the program.

I promptly excused myself & picked up a pair of Pino Giardino Oxfords in Dark Oak .

What's amazing is he expects a customer to buy without trying the shoes!! Here's a new one:- " All our shoes are made from the same shape lasts"
It's no surprise why those who can afford to still shop abroad. It's frustrating dealing with sales persons who lack product knowledge.

i happened to pass by the cobbler at the curve yesterday and picked up a few things:

user posted image

saphir (50ml) = rm29.90 (plal's price is better)
coxy (250ml) = rm39.90

there was a waterproof spray for leather and suede by avel (the mother company of saphir) but  selling at rm89.90 for a 400ml bottle.

I was told by the chubby lady there the saphir medaille d'or cream (as shown below) is only meant for glossy type leather. can some one please confirm on this?

user posted image
*
Was it that anal retentive rude arrogant woman?

She is talking absolutely rubbish ( as usual )

1. If you search around the websites, the Medaille D'or cream can be used for normal care & polish. This cream is good to help keep your leather supple but does not impart an intense shine unlike the Saphir wax that comes in a can.
2. When you use this cream , first clean your shoe with a lightly moist cloth to remove any surface dirt
3. Apply the cream lightly
4. Leave for 15 to 20 minutes to dry
5. Wipe off with soft cloth

These are also available at Plal ( when I last check a month ago ) but in smaller size .

I've also ordered from the website ( not sure if I passed the details to you ) -excellent service & very quick response ( 1 week after placing order ). My advice is to accumulate your purchase or make a group purchase with friends as they offer better discounts for bulk purchase and the postage is proportionally less

yeah she is the one that you referred to but she made an effort of taking out the shoe care products from the glass cabinet. well, i think there is an improvement there.

btw, i just sent you a pm smile.gif
*
Responded. If you are down in Singapore the Cobbler on the 4th level of ION Orchard has an extensive range of Collinil Products , whilst the one in the basement of OUB in Raffles Place stocks Cuir Essentialle'

Otherwise Singapore is a wasteland where shoe care products are concerned as compared to KL.

BTW Berluti recommends Burgundy & Neutral wax for their black shoes for a more intense shine

1. Use the Neutral Wax to clean & prepare the leather after removing surface dirt.
2. After polishing off the wax , apply the burgundy wax with a damp cloth-Apply lightly & polish until the polish streak marks are no longer visible
3. Repeat with burgundy wax until an intense shine builds up
4. Focus on polishing sections ( toe cap, quarters , heel ) at any one time until an intense shine builds up.

There are pros & cons to this. Apart from the obvious aesthetic value, it also helps to keep the leather water proof. However, prolong polishing in this manner also affects the longevity of the leather so you may want to purchase a Saphir Renomat to remove the polish build up every so often & apply some delicates or cuir essentialle' to moisturize the leather & keep it supple

It takes about 1 hour for a new pair of shoes so make yourself comfortable in front of a TV. Once the shine is achieved, it will take approximately 10 to 15 minutes just to maintain the shine .

There's a good video on JM Weston's website that shows how this is done if you are interested
