0.1v on a fab with such tight tolerances like the CPU it would be a matter of life and death, but on a fab such as the DRAM, i don't think you need a heatsink or heatspreader...most seasoned OC'ers would agree that heat spreaders are mainly for show... whistling.gif

no need to apologies...everyone is born a noob wink.gif

antonio, what is your load temperature?  wink.gif

Depends on ambient...

right now if I prime, will be around 54-56c

if noon could reach 60c and beyond...if a/c on at night, load only 39c wink.gif

can ask question? how to achieve higher clock with lower voltage? all the guide that i found only teach 'increase the voltage'..
*
It would be almost impossible unless the architecture allows it...you cant have 3.6ghz at 1.3v stable, its completely irrelevant...

Just like cars that produces more power gulping more fuel...it cant be a 1000hp engine only uses 100cc engine fuel... flex.gif

hi all again, i'm jz wondering how come there's a great temp diff btw my comp and my cousin's comp. Both of us uses the same hardwares and same casing except our CPUle

Mobo: MSI 770-C45

My proc: X3 720 overclocked to 3.4ghz, 1.37V (IDLE : 29-31C, FULL : 38-40C)

His: X4 955 at stock 3.2ghz, 1.35V (IDLE: 39-41C, FULL: 50-51C)

Both of us use Coolermaster Hyper212+ as our CPU cooler

As u can c, the temp diff is nearly 10C or more btw our CPUs, I know mine is jz X3 but will the extra core make such a BIG diff? afterall, I overclocked mine to a higher clock and has a higher voltage than his...

I'm jz worried his CPU cooler is not installed properly. Is this normal guys? 10 degress for the extra core with lower clock speed and voltage

but the CPU temp difference btw our comps is very very significant

hi all again, sry for keep posting continuously on this thread, I jz wanna ask one thing. I jz increase my x3 720 to 3.5ghz

CPU Vcore: 1.391V
CPU-NB: 1.26V
Mem: 1.71V

OK, so i did a stability test with prime95 blend test, I was so glad that it went stable for the first 4.5 hrs with no issue, temp's 42-43C MAX at full load...then I went out and came bak after another 4-5hrs later and found out that my comp BSOD

Can I consider my comp to be stable?  or should I upped more voltage? cuz it survived the first mayb 5-6hrs of prime95 blends test then BSOD later...
*
could be overheating could be memory...if 4 hours passed, surely just small or slight settings needs to be adjust or change.. brows.gif

Probably best to look at the Date when purchasing...try to look for a newer date from the 'deneb' batches

*
Best bang for buck would be the unlockable X2 and X3...Dun believe the hype....there are no such problems when talking about the same performances as 965BE...more than that, prepare great cooling and a quality mobo... biggrin.gif

on X2 u probably reach 4ghz on X3 is a bit hard, on X4 though, its practically time consuming to balance the voltage and heat... sweat.gif

so unless you can hit 4.3 and have a super 1800 CL7, u cant even dream of breaking 14s...4.0 is around 17 if i'm not mistaken...

rclxms.gif rclxms.gif of course...then again ah khoo probably snatch since he has a powerful ram or another guy with a better 'IMC' C3 revision might just pull it off...

I've SPI'ed at 4.2ghz still nothing special compared to a common 4.0ghz Nehalem

Cann...jom jom...but you got cache or not...struggle worr without L3 Cache as the CPU-NB communicates and even respond well to high mhz...

hmm, how bout 955 BE? wise choice? (it's cheaper than 965 for some reason)
*
Any generation of CPU is worth it and as an 'true overclocker' and not the typical benchmarker, its has been a ritual to get the cheapest in the family and overclock it till it reaches or past higher retail part...

if I would to buy a native Quadies, i prefer to get the cheapest and OC'ed the hell out of it...but since I got a Quad sleeper, i probably say its best to get a known good batch or even newer steppings such as the C3 rclxms.gif

QUOTE(beast921 @ Dec 27 2009, 04:52 AM)
Hmm.... am also hoping some one could elaborate more on the matter: am using M4A78 EM/1394 & Kingmax PC6400 2x2GB. latest Bios 0504. Win 7 64bit
this board got 4 slot Dimm, 2 yellow & 2 black. + Athlon II X3 425.

Ganged mode: Dual channel 4096MB ram windows recognize and usable 3.5GB coz of the onboard GFX.
Unganged mode: single channel 2048 ram windows recognize & usable 1.5Gb coz of on board GFX

So basically if I used Unganged mode: in bios & windows I can only used 2048MB. the other 2048MB its reserved. I dont even know why.

I try to swap slot 1 yellow dimm & 1 black dimm occupied by Kingmax. In ganged mode nor unganged its recognize single channel. can only usable 2048MB no matter what I do.
Put it back both ram at both yellow slot dimm, in ganged mode, its become dual channel again (4096MB). then change to unganged mode, it become single again & 2048MB only can used.

Both stick of ram are ok, pass all memtest.

I also tried to google it. read a fews but notin give clearer answers to my problem: " what I want is to have unganged mode & bios + windows recognize 4069MB."
*
Same color = 1 channel

so put ur rams on the same color for dual channel....

then go to the memory tab in the bios and select unganged.... thumbup.gif

ok. that what I did. I put both my Ram in same color dimm (yellow). then i go in bios memory configuration ... then select unganged mode. the restart. but windows only recognize 2046MB only not 4069MB.
*
Memory Hole Remap option in bios set to ON....

In windows type msconfig in Command Prompt....Then go to Boot, Click on the Microsoft Windows, then go to Advance Options, see if the check box for Maximum Memory is clicked and insert the amount of 4094 inside the tab....

Restart....

If still only 2GB visible

Type in msconfig again in the Command Prompt and then go back at the Boot tab and advance menu, un-checked the maximum memory tab...

Just because some of us have it doesn't mean the whole series is bad. You got the best MSI board for example and don't have problems, does it mean the cheaper board are the same? I have use some asus board I have zero issues with any memory incompatibility. But I do have memory incompatibility with DFI board before, but will that makes me bashing DFI board and say all their board suck?

Best thing to do in beast921 case is e-mail them, their customer support are quite good, they will usually reply e-mail in 1-2 days
*
Just let it flip, it doesn't need to uphold any specific brands or model maa....I used Asus, DFI, Abit, MSI, Gigabyte (ol 939 days), Biostar and have found some pro and cons of each of them....its how your reply regarding the problems that matters, and not to simply say that A board is suck or the B board is good...its a matter of the whole board specific construction and a little bit of luck also....

The current 790FX when I first bought it, out of the box POST'ed once then never again...change 1 to 1 then only I'm running... Just let it slide... nod.gif

Yup, I did email to asus support already with 48 hours they will reply on the issues.
Noted . on your suggestion:
Please refer to the screenie as proof & look into the circle part (in windows ss): that what I trying to focus on.

ok. Do remember that am using build in Graphic which means share my memory.

@ antonio: I did what u ask me to, apparently its still doesnt work.
*
Try disabling Onboard GFX memory sharing, just use the sideport mem....

Its in the somewhere around advance chipset settings or something in the bios...It can be select either Sideport+Mem or just Sideport only....

Bank Interleave Off
MemCLK tristate OFF
Power Down Disable

noted. on the suggestion.

please refer to the bios scene shot:

Asus M4A78 EM/1394 does not have Sideport Memory, its required shared memory with Ram install for build in Graphic. Its unfortunate for me.
*
Set the UMA to as little as possible...lets say 512MB....

then in theory although you will lose 500mb due to 32bit OS, but it is being utilized perfectly by the GFX....hihihihihi icon_rolleyes.gif
