Check this out:

http://www.trustedreviews.com/home-cinema/...maha-RX-V467/p1

Yamaha RX-V467 AV Receiver. It's 3D ready as well.

Sold at Harvey Norman as a package together with Yamaha NS-P380 5.1 speakers.

I cancelled my earlier order of the YHT-S400 soundbar and got this instead as I found out the soundbar couldn't decode HD audio. doh.gif

Anyone owners of the above AVR here? smile.gif

need some advice ..

Harvey Norman quoted RM2590 for a RX-V467 and NS-P380 surround speakers. . i'm not looking at high-end (budget constraint) plus i can't really blast as im staying in a condo.

Do you guys reckon this package is value for money? Thanks!
*
I've got the exact same package as you did. It's really worth it, unless you fancy huge speakers, of course.

Which branch did you go to? I think you can nego to get it cheaper. Got mine for RM2190, if i'm not mistaken, from MidValley HN. nod.gif

If I'm not mistaken...

It doesn't / won't show...  If you select 'Movie' on your remote it would play it as it is (If your source is DTS-HD, etc). If you select 'Surround' on your remote, you will see the PLIIx logo on the display and this will decode things for you.

There's also the decoder mode which is usually set to 'auto' (this matches the format of the audio input for you automatically). The other selection would be 'DTS' (this selects DTS signals only, other signals are not reproduced).

best you grab the manual and read up.. I've only read up a bit
*
I think u've got it wrong,bro.

If you press the MOVIE button - there will be pre-set choices like SPECTACLE, DRAMA, SCI-FI, etc.

I had the same problem at first when I popped in a BD. It just displayed DTS, when I was certain there was DTS-HD.

Anyways, when I clicked the STRAIGHT button - it immediately displayed DTS-HD Master Audio. nod.gif

There you go. Try it out. Come back here and tell us if it works.

PS: Azxel, if I do get it wrong, humble apologies. notworthy.gif

For my old RX 420, once DTS audio is selected from the DVD menu, the receiver will show DTS. But with the new RX 467, the panel only shows HDMI and DSP, but not DTS HD or TruDolby。

Perhaps the new receiver automatically accepts and decodes the best audio to output..........

Your BD player is connected to the AVR via HDMI cable right?

Nope.

Try this:

1) Press OPTION
2) Go to DECODER MODE
3) Select AUTO
* Is your setting at the moment DTS or AUTO?

[see page 45 of the manual]

When you pop in your blu-ray and start the movie, you said only the DTS and CINEMA DSP icons appear, right?

[look at page 29 of the manual - "when you playback DTS-HD sources with CINEMA DSP, the DTS decoder is automatically selected"]

So now you have to deselect CINEMA DSP.

This can be done by selecting the STRAIGHT button

* this must be done when your blu-ray movie is playing. Don't press it when ure at the main menu screen, etc. Do all this when the feature is running.

See if there's a difference in the display - it ought to display DTS-HD MSTR or DOLBY TRU-HD (if i'm not mistaken)

[refer to pages 29-30 of the manual for the above]

Can you also check whether your BD player's HDMI cable is connected to the 'HDMI 1' input at the back of the AVR?

Try it out and let us know how. Cheers.

Yes this has been bugging me for quite sometime also tongue.gif

Don't forget to adjust your speaker distance as well. That's very important to ensure that the sound from all speakers reach your listening position at the same time. nod.gif

How much is the price? Any good shops?

I got mine from HN Midvalley. You can try out at their soundroom as well. It's worth it as it can decode HD audio as well so if you're watching blu-rays you would be able to get HD audio. nod.gif

HN after sales service is one of the best, if not the best, in the market, bro. If the price is the same I'd go for HN without thinking twice. smile.gif

Anyways, hope all will be ok with your AVR. nod.gif
