QUOTE(digitax @ Nov 25 2010, 03:33 PM) need some advice .. What about the Left and Right Fronts?Harvey Norman quoted RM2590 for a RX-V467 and NS-P380 surround speakers. . i'm not looking at high-end (budget constraint) plus i can't really blast as im staying in a condo. Do you guys reckon this package is value for money? Thanks! The NS-P380 is only Center and 2 Surrounds... |

If I'm not mistaken...
It doesn't / won't show... If you select 'Movie' on your remote it would play it as it is (If your source is DTS-HD, etc). If you select 'Surround' on your remote, you will see the PLIIx logo on the display and this will decode things for you. There's also the decoder mode which is usually set to 'auto' (this matches the format of the audio input for you automatically). The other selection would be 'DTS' (this selects DTS signals only, other signals are not reproduced). best you grab the manual and read up.. I've only read up a bit |

QUOTE(dariofoo @ Dec 11 2010, 04:44 PM) I think u've got it wrong, bro. no need to apologise bro.. If you press the MOVIE button - there will be pre-set choices like SPECTACLE, DRAMA, SCI-FI, etc. I had the same problem at first when I popped in a BD. It just displayed DTS, when I was certain there was DTS-HD. Anyways, when I clicked the STRAIGHT button - it immediately displayed DTS-HD Master Audio. There you go. Try it out. Come back here and tell us if it works. PS: Azxel, if I do get it wrong, humble apologies. I'm also learning how to use the 467 myself Lemme go back and see if it will display DTS-HD when I press the 'Straight' button or not. From what I noticed, there wasn't any DTS icon at all on the display Here's what I read in the manual previously (page 29) QUOTE When you playback DTS-HD sources with Cinema DSP, the DTS decoder is automatically selected Not really sure what it actually means Ah.. I think you're (dariofoo) right. Found this on page 30... QUOTE Enjoying unprocessed playback (Straight Decoding Mode) Use straight decoding mode when you want to playback sound without sound field processing. You can playback as follows in straight decoding mode. 2-channel sources as CD Stereo sound plays through the front left and right speakers Multi-channel playback sources such as BD/DVD Plays back audio from playback sources without applying sound field effects using an appropriate decoder to split the signal into multiple channels Then 'Direct' is for... QUOTE Enjoying Hi-Fi Sound Quality (Direct Mode) Use Direct mode to enjoy the pure high fidelity sound of the selected source. When direct mode is enabled, this unit plays back the selected source with the least circuitry. All in all, get the manual and thoroughly read through it. |

QUOTE(dariofoo @ Dec 12 2010, 09:50 PM) How was it Azxel? forgot to test out BD last night.. heheManual sounds confusing (as they often do!) I haven't read it yet myself. Will do when I have time. QUOTE(galantorian7116 @ Dec 13 2010, 02:03 AM) Nope, my 467 panel won't display any DTS HD audio whenever i playback DTS HD movie on my Phillips BDP. It does not show any DTS on my old DVD movie too. For some DVDs, you need to go to setup to select what kinda audio you want also right? So i have no idea what movie audio it is playing. |

QUOTE(Matrix @ Dec 23 2010, 04:09 PM) haha...i dunno...each speaker have their own 'Ohm' measurements...i am not sure if pairing a powerful AVR to those cheap small speakers are wise. I believe in the AVR manual got mentioned what is the 'Ohm' recommend for the specific speakers. it's like fitting a single 747 jet engine into your car with 14 inch rims, right? Here: http://www.prestonelectronics.com/audio/Impedance.htm QUOTE(galantorian7116 @ Dec 23 2010, 04:35 PM) Okay, i have another question about this amp. hmm.. I usually watch my movies in different 'dB'... and mute it (or dial things down till it's mute) before I turn off the amp.I normally turn the volume at around -22dB when watching BD movies, and turn to around -10 dB when watching Astro B.yond . May i know how to properly set the volume level, as i know Yamaha 467 does not come with proper pre set at 0dB out of the box right ? I think that there really isn't any set volume level, especially so for different sources (BD, DVD, TV channels, etc). |

QUOTE(Matrix @ Dec 23 2010, 05:08 PM) Yep, better buy a HTIB if budget is low....i think most should be able to decode DTS and DD...but check the spec sheet just to be safe...since some people mentioned certain Pioneer model cannot do that... I believe it was the Panasonic HTIB that can't do that... |

QUOTE(opjust @ Mar 25 2011, 03:15 PM) wow, an upgrade... if a bit earlier I can just bought from you.. wanna ask, is the subwoofer cable really make a difference, I use rm30 coaxial cable only for subwoofer, not upgrading la.. wish only The cable is damn short, hard to relocate my sub.. I want to but longer one, is the expensive one will result in better lfe sound?? I'm also using a coaxial for my sub from the AVR... think the cable came with my set... not much issue cos my sub sits quite near my AVR.. small condo.. no place to put anywhere else.. hehe |
