which means no one is really sure if the flashing would void the warranty terms or not... rclxub.gif sweat.gif

aiks...did not see that.  Will try upgrading later.  Thanks!
I am currently using Garmin Mobile XT with MalfreeMaps.  Software version id 5.00.20wp
One quirk for me though.  When I first ran Garmin I had to stand under the clear sky and wait for more than 10 mins just to get a good lock.
After that attempt, now the GPS locks on quickly but of course it still can't beat external Bluetooth GPS devices especially the BT 737 A+. It locks in less than 10 secs, 50 sat. capability and double the sensitivity.

How bout NAVFon that comes with some Omnia 2 phones? Is it any better?

NAVFon? I don't have it on my phone either.
When I got my phone, it only comes with Adobe, Opera, Midomi, Office Mobile and the Touch applications. Down stock standard directly from Samsung. =S

Are your apps installed by Samsung itself or installed by your retailer?
*
it comes with a free license from NAVFon.

aiks..my mistake.  Found this web site.
http://www.asiagis.com.sg/agis2/info_samsung.php

Did a hard reset on my O2 on the 2nd day I got it.  Crashed it while installing BlueInput.  Explains why I lost that app.
Will install it now and test it out.

OK, tested it.  Not exactly to my liking though.  The layout is crude.  Not as refined as Garmin Mobile XT.  Maps are also not as detailed as MFM and MSM maps.
Looks like its more suitable for Singapore maps.
GPS lock on is about the same as Garmin's.
However, I need to set the GPS baud rate to 9600 for NavFone and 57600 for Garmin.  As for me, I'll stick to my trusty ol' Garmin.  smile.gif

Dang, been looking all around for that kind of casing...  The stock pouch is troublesome.  When someone calls me, by the time I managed to take my phone out... 1 miss call.
Too bad I'm staying on the other side of M'sia.  sad.gif

thanks a lot dude.. that was a fast update!!
so we shall stick to Garmin whistling.gif

Couldn't agree more.  smile.gif

Yep, I have noticed the GPS socket.  Its an MCX connector.  I have an external GPS antenna but I have no idea how to plug it in while keeping the back case closed.
A future custom or extra enhancement back panel, maybe?  whistling.gif

owh this is something new, even I didn't realize the socket... hmmm hw shall it be used eyh rclxub.gif rclxub.gif

just got back, did a short survey at Lowyat

PDAExpert offering 8GB model for RM 2380 with free 8gb MicroSD and all their standard free package (screen protect & programs).
Without the SD card is RM 2350.
Theirs is FMG set with 12 mths warranty.

Samsung Mobile 1st floor (seller's name: LAM) selling for RM 2100, standard set/package only.
Theirs is Brightstar set with 12mths warranty.

The thing is from my survey some shop claimed that Brightstar set is actually AP set and FMG is the original ORI. wonder if that is REALLY true. hmm.gif

Anyone has inputs or opinions on this?? shocking.gif rclxub.gif

When I buy from LAM, mine was FMG RM2100.
*
Hmm, the one he showed me just now was Brightstar, made in Korea.
Anyway, that doesn't matter.
the thing is, is Brighstar's really an AP set.

just got my unit from PDA Expert (12 months warranty + extended warranty), although slightly expensive but i really trust those guys...

any problems or need software, just drop-by any PDA Expert store and they will be more than willing to assist.
*
Yeah, I think I trust them better too.
Anyways hw much u bought it for? Hw long is the extended warranty and hw much extra u paid?

Just that you found those shops that sell FMG set that is selling more expensive. As reported in this thread & proven in lelong.com.my, there are FMG sets selling at RM 2100 or maybe lower.
*
Lower than RM 2100? Where exactly?

Coz, so far the lowest found is RM 2100.
Thankzzz.. drool.gif

Just went to Samsung Service Center, they claims for overseas hand phone to upgrade will charge RM100, and if the Samsung becomes bricked in the process of upgrading, they will not responsible, then if the phone is upgrade here u will loss the warranty from the country of origin you purchase it.
Sounds good, huh?

btw, i'm currently using SPB 3.5, after much tinkering, i think this is a much superior shell then Samsung...not to mentioned way faster too! Heck, now i don't even bother about WinMo 6.5...

I've downloaded the VITO Chat...seriously, this is how SMS should be, not that clunky horrible WinMo SMS editor, which Samsung TouchWiz UI is based on. SMS threading, easy fowarding, multiple recipient etc are added easily. My wife will love this. smile.gif

I almost regret buying this phone coz she keeps complaining so many user unfriendliness issues...

So far this is what my wife has complained and how i resolve it....life is tough for the husband who has to do technical support for the wife!!! sweat.gif

1) No direct way of creating NEW SMS - default Samsung interface goes into WinMo with clunkiness that requires like 3 steps to create new SMS.
Solution: Create a shortcut link to the TMAIL.EXE(with parameters) and dump it into the \Windows\Menu folder.

2) Sorting of contacts by Last Name, then First Name...doh.gif I wonder who remember people by their surname first...
Solution: Use a software called 'Contact Changer v13'. (Thanks to the guys here!)

3) Cannot foward SMS!!!
Solution: The option is hidden in the Reply->Foward menu option in WinMo SMS...really stupid design. Solved by VITA SMS. So easy to use!

With SPB 3.5, the usability is so much better, but i miss something from Samsung widget though. Can i get those widget to run in SPB 3.5? Like Yahoo FInance...this is very useful to keep the fav stock code in the list.

Any ideas??

As the forum here from LYP cheapest can get Rm2050 for FMG/brightstar set.
Btw, better got for Class 6 cos Class 4 will slow down your gadgets...
What kind of free lifetime software support? Can always go there ask them to update software(pirated)? Or if got problem only refer back to them?
*
soft Warez installation (for those who cant find progs) they have some well enhanced software catalogs ...
and i suppose they have good after sales support (recommended by friends)

Which shops do exactly sell for RM 2050? Mind naming those?
And whats the market price for 8GB class 6?
