Do u drink a lot of tea?
Tea has diuretic effect which leads to dry stool.
Try reducing the amount of tea taken. See if it works.

Is that normal for having no pass motion for 2 to 3 days once a week?
Would it be categorized as a constipation? |

QUOTE(OMG! @ Jun 13 2011, 11:08 AM) Is that normal for having no pass motion for 2 to 3 days once a week? From what I heard, everyone is different. Some only pass motion once a week but their stool seem normal. Would it be categorized as a constipation? I'm not sure also. But to me, constipation is hard stool and painful passing motion. |

Agree! my friends pass motion about 3 times a week, but try to think this way, if one only pass motion once a week, it is pretty abnormal as it may sound.I'm not sure also. But to me, constipation is hard stool and painful passing motion. Where the hell the food go if you eat without defecate out daily? so sometimes, i think the condition of not passing motion daily may be abnormal as it may sound. |

interesting to be talking about other people's bowel movement.
As long as the bowel movement is regular and constant, i am sure it is ok. However, it is important to see what comes out too as your poops can tell alot about your health |

As long as the bowel movement is regular and constant, i am sure it is ok. However, it is important to see what comes out too as your poops can tell alot about your health I know that each morning wake up drink a glass of water immediately before you brush your teeth, after that go sit on the toilet bowl for some time, practice every day and make it as a habit, you will eventually pass motion every day. Stress and time constrain could also be the factor in pass motion difficulties. |

I have friends passing motion after every meal, and I have friends passing motion every alternate days. All of them seem healthy.I know that each morning wake up drink a glass of water immediately before you brush your teeth, after that go sit on the toilet bowl for some time, practice every day and make it as a habit, you will eventually pass motion every day. Stress and time constrain could also be the factor in pass motion difficulties. Sometimes just too busy to even go to the toilet to pass motion. |

My gf needs to take off-the-counter medicine - Ducolex every single day in order to pass motion.
Its sad to see her taking 5-6 small little yellow pills everyday. Any suggestions to improve her situation? |

QUOTE(Damonzero @ Jul 1 2011, 11:15 AM) Has she ever tried probiotics supplement? It supplies good bacteria to the gut, and most ppl who had gut problem benifitted from it. You can try small size, buy at local pharm, see how it goes If it works, later can try other strains of good probiotics, that are more potent (as far as I know, the strains sold in Malaysia are generic ones) The link shown below, seems to say that if you use such medication too much, your gut would be come "lazy"? ie no more peristalsis. Not sure of such truth, but seems that person said she got off it later. CLICK LINK HERE I am taking probiotics almost usually, by consuming yoghurt (yoghurt is made using probiotics) that I made on my own -- use yoghurt maker EASIYO (sold at Caring pharmacy, cost RM109) I dont use EASIYO premix powder to make my yoghurt, I used instead, FullCreamMilk Powder (or skimmed milk powder) 220grams per EASIYO bottle. To "seed" my yoghurt, I use 2 capsules of probiotics supplement into the milk and let it incubate overnight. Usually after 24-36hrs, your youghurt should set using such apparatus. If until 36hr youghurt do not set, sth is wrong with your preparation, and the milk u use should best be discarded (if your probiotics didnt grow and make the yoghurt, other harmful bacteria may grow in it and it is advisable to just discard the milk if yoghurt didnt solidify at 36hrs) Once you are nearly finish with that one bottle of yoghurt, you can take one spoonful of that nearly finish yoghrut, as a "seeder" culture, when making your next batch of yoghurt (no need to use extra new capsule from your supplement bottle). This means, any yoghurt that you have, can be used as the starter seeder culture (just one spoon is enough). So, those who do not have supplement probiotics may also use seeder culture from small sized yoghurt sold at various supermarkets. I would remind though, your yoghurt loses its good bacteria over time, so best to consume within one month (and not use after 1.5month). When using EASIYO mix powder, I think you can use tap water (it will still set up, ie yoghurt will work), as I think EASIYO put something to neutralise the chlorine If you are using your own milk powder, you cant use tap water, your probiotics will die due to chlorine. One must use water from special filter that excludes chlorine from tap water, or just buy the bottled water from supermarket (rev. osmosis type one, not mineral water though). Even the (external) water that one boil to incubate the milk using EASIYO setup should be unchlorinated water, as the chlorine can seep pass through the plastic container which holds the milk you want to turn into yoghurt. Additional note: probiotics capsules are best kept in the fridge. However, note that probiotics supplements would be killed if you keep it in some type of "modern fridges". My hybrid-plasma Toshiba fridge actually keeps my veggies so long, that even after 2 wks, it looks like 75% fresh. This is because it produces plasma to kill bacteria and destroy certain gaseous compund that promote decomposition of veggies. I once realised my probiotics were killed by it, if I keep it more than 6 mo. in that fridge. Many modern fridges can kill bugs it seems. |

Make your own yoghurt with raw milk and a viable culture. This will reestablish a proper balance of your intestinal flora and resolve many cases of constipation.

The cheapest way to resolve constipation is still to drink plenty of plain, old-fashioned water, ie, boiled tap water.
An average sized person will need to drink about 1.5 litres (1,500 ml) a day, not all at one go of course, but spread evenly throughout the day. If he/she exercises a lot or does heavy physical work leading to much perspiration, then naturally he would need to drink more than the 1.5 litres to replace the water lost through sweating. |
