it's < 5 mins walk from FTMS to systematic...less than <10 mins walk from FTMS/systematic to kasturi etc etc...it's all very near 1 =P

no need A level or degree...

Mature Student Entry Route (MSER)

For entry to ACCA's Professional Qualification via the MSER you must be over 21 years old. You must also pass Papers M1 and M2 (equivalent to Papers 1.1 and 1.2) within two years from the date of your first eligible ACCA examination session.

You will then be able to transfer to the main student register.

Sunway is the best for ACCA, got the highest results for students and world recognition in the world.

Go for Sunway College, Malaysia's number 1.
*
sunway barred their student who failed their mock exam from taking the real exam......that's how they get high results

world recognition as in?? they only got premier plus and the rest of malaysian colleges/institute doesnt is bcos they have the campus....big big campus which is one of the requirement to be ranked as premier plus

if u study in TAR...u'll have to stick with them until u finished ur advanced dip(if i'm not mistaken)...then ur part 2 of ACCA will be exmpted...

sunway is recommended since that they really have a nice college life...

but if r not so rich and dun want to spend so much at sunway...u can consider other institutes...where r u from?

Financial Accounting cum Part 2 and Part 3 of ACCA

The Advanced Diploma course continues to introduce new subject areas and to develop students' analytical and problem solving skills. Students completing the course should have mastered the range of knowledge, skills and techniques required of a professional accountant.

The Year 1 of the Advanced Diploma in Commerce (Financial Accounting) programme is also the Internally Assessed ACCA Part 2 programme. Students passing this programme will gain exemptions from Part 2 of ACCA examinations.

In Year 2 of the Advanced Diploma, students are also prepared to sit for Part 3 of the ACCA examinations - Option Papers in December and Core Papers in the following June.

Upon successful completion of this two-year full-time Advanced Diploma, students can graduate with the Advanced Diploma in Commerce (Financial Accounting) and ACCA.

like what i said...u do their advance dip... u'll sit for their internal exams and get exemption for ACCA part 2...internal=marked n set by the TARC lecturer

u will have to take part 3 according to the subjects and paper set and marked by examiner of ACCA...therefore,marked and set by UK ppl except for malaysian variant paper ^^

@ trex..i think unless u r working ,10yrs is a very very very long period for u to finish ur ACCA...i'm almost done with my ACCA and i'm only 20 yrs old....previously someone i know graduated even before he reaches 19 yrs old....i'll recommend to take up ACCA and finish it earlier smile.gif

@cheehwa...i think if u stay at kelana jaya, sunway is very near for u smile.gif

no need....after u finish ACCA...work for 3 yrs then u can apply for membership already....no need take another final exam....

the 3 yr experience can be before, during and after ur ACCA course

systematic not good lar.....the only lecturer good is 3.2 tax by chong kwai fatt

CAT to ACCA is faster and easier..unless u plan to work before u jump to ACCA, then LCCI is the preferred over CAT for the employer..

y r u restricting urself to sunway, systematic and TARC? lol
furthermore i think the branch that u go to study ACCA for systematic will in KL instead of the SS2 branch...not very sure but that's what i think/know lar =P

if u only want to restrict urself to these 3 colleges then i think systematic is out.. LOL..i dun think it's a good choice... both TARC and sunway will give u a taste of college life and it will be hectic since they'll have classes everyday or so....

in sunway u'll have more choices as in how many papers u wish to take every semester(half yearly) but if u fail their mock exam u'll be stopped from taking the real exam...meaning u'll have to wait another half yr(u dun even get to try ur luck at the real exam... or study last minute =P )..for me,sunway r for the average to rich ppl.everyone is so rich that u'll also start spending money and ur expenses will go up and if it's me i'll take into account the expenses as a cost of finishing my study there ...peer pressure very high there =P

and for TARC,u r tied to them as in u'll have to study every single thing there and not somewhere else....and in TARC it'll be more chinese speaking ppl(mainly mandarin)...if u have difficulty at that...err...u might wanna reconsider somewhere else =P

there are other institutes to consider for CAT-ACCA course
FTMS- http://www.ftmsglobal.com/kl/index.htm
PAAC- http://www.paac.edu.my/index.html (very outdated site but it's good there..i'm studying there =P..some lecturers from KLC and FTMS are there now )
Kasturi- http://www.kasturi.edu.my/2nd/acca_cat.html

or others

tq for ur information....
where is PAAC??
how the cost of the course??
aha...cause sunway n systematic is near my hse...
n TARC is cheaper than other college...
*
PAAC is near KLCC there...take lrt to KLCC station can walk to the college already..it's at Megan Phileo Avenue..same row with Australian Embassy...i think CAT course only cost bout 4-5k at PAAC (excluding ACCA registration, subscription and exam fee)...u might wanna drop by and check the fees and the place out urself..the staff are friendly there smile.gif

Gundam Wing or anyone, hope can get your help here.

1) Is ACCA same as CPA Australia?
2) After getting ACCA, can get into MIA straight away? Or still need 3 years of working exp under a qualified accountant?

Me and my gf just recently graduate from Victoria University of Wellington. Already apply for accessment for CPA (in Jan) but haiz....until now only got their receipt of payment. They are damn slack when doing works. sad.gif
*
they r the same level...but for the employee,ACCA is preferred bcos it's more recognise....in case u didnt know ACCA recognise is many many countries...furthermore,ACCA got malaysian variant for tax and law as well as standards..i dunno whether CPA Australia have them ^^

when u have ACCA membership u can apply for MIA membership..to get ACCA membership u need 3 yrs relevant working experience

QUOTE(Gundam Wing @ Mar 23 2005, 10:38 AM)
one more thing, i know sunway has an affiliation with the Oxford Brookes University.

for students who are taking ACCA in sunway, after u have passed ur part 2, u can submit a report to OBU and u'll get a degree.

i am not sure if other colleges are offering this package, find out more from sunway.
*
it's not sunway who has the affliation
it's ACCA...OBU's degree in applied accounting is ACCA-OBU project...the research project that u do will only decide whether u fail or pass.....once u pass, the class(1st class,2nd class etc) for the degree is decided by the average marks u get in whole part 2 of ACCA

many colleges are offering mentor to do the research stuff...as i know sunway,FTMS and PAAC have it..dunno bout other colleges...and as usual it's more expensive in sunway compared to other colleges..a friend of mine in sunway said it costs bout 4-5k for the mentor help in the research paper..while others are below 1k....it's a MUST to have a mentor to complete the research paper

QUOTE(leochern @ Mar 23 2005, 08:56 PM)
i think any college will do...  if im not mistaken tis degree is not recognise by Malaysian government ( but wont u wan to wrok wif govnt meh??  shakehead.gif  shakehead.gif )
tis OBU is very good coz if u knot pass ur part3, at least u hav a degree when u r applying for jobs... hehe....

may i ask is studying SUNWAY reali tat pressure??  sweat.gif coz my fren at there juz lik very very busy... everyday got class.... coz im goin there to continue my part 2 in july....
*
yah OBU degree is something to fall back on incase we keep failing part 3..*crosses finger* hope i dont LOL

and errmm..sunway pressure bcos they have classes everyday and their mock exams are important to decide whether they r allowed to sit for the real exams...it's REALLY a college life when u study in sunway while the others only have classes like 1 or 2 classes of 3 hours per week per subject....easy life out there compared to sunway.maybe that's why it's much more expensive in sunway ^^

phew..such a long post...just my 2 cents..dont shoot me laugh.gif

to Hikari...

Can u tell me more about C.A.T and ACCA in sunway coll timetable n payment.....

coz i looking for a full time ( everyday class ) courses in C.A.T / ACCA.. coz i can't tahan in FTMS life.... 2 classes a week.. too bored...
*
QUOTE(Gundam Wing @ Mar 26 2005, 04:38 PM)
i dont think he from from Sunway whistling.gif
*
yah he's right i'm not from sunway LOL

but from my frens who r from sunway, they have classes like other courses...everyday got class etc...unlike other institutes which only have 1 or 2 classes per subject smile.gif

if u think 2 classes a week is too bored maybe u want to take up some other courses that will upgrade ur skill etc.....or enjoy a bit at the beginning of the semester then study hard 1 or 2 months before the exams...this is because ACCA is more to self discipline and i find myself at part 3 now dont have time to have fun...i have classes almost everyday(although only 3 hours classes)...this is because i have to study bcos 3 hours is not enuff to make u pass....practising questions and revising is very very helpful...CAT is easy at the beginning(since u mac 2005 intake..i assume u taking paper 1 and 2 only).....once u get to higher level it will be difficult and u wish u'll have more time...maybe i just like to have fun =P

at sunway, payment is more than double at other institutes...but they cover LAN subjects and they give extra classes......

QUOTE(Suk @ Mar 26 2005, 05:11 PM)
firstly i thought the ACCA / CAT exam paper is same in every colleges...b'coz it is an international paper wat....

But now i found a very cheap Exam paper in 1 college.... and can we study in "A" college but exam in "B" college ???

and Annual Fee for ACCA, RE-register for ACCA also cheaper than my college....

check it out.. ~~ http://www.kasturi.edu.my/2nd/acca_cat.html

http://www.kasturi.edu.my/2nd/acca.html
*
dont follow the site 1...ACCA revise their price every yr..the site is most probably update...wherever u study, the ACCA fee is paid to ACCA therefore,it'll all be the same...

and u r right bout ti's external paper...everyone will study the same thing in the same paper of same country variant....

and pls dont see it as studying in A college and taking exam in B college...it's just that B college is selected as an exam centre for that area....B college is selected for various reasons and not bcos it's a better college who offer ACCA better...it's just that it has better facilities and environment(maybe?)..for example,PJ area is Sunway College(who happens to offer ACCA courses)...but in cheras,UCSI is picked but they r not offering any ACCA courses...u must differentiate between exam centre and tuition provider smile.gif

compulsory to take LAN subject, need to take moral study and history.

also, if ur BM din get credit in SPM, u need to take additional BM paper.

i think the LAN subject was free for the first time u sit for it, dont think i paid for it. anyway, its internal one, just do a presentation and answer a few questions, nothing much.

i remember last i had to pass the LAN only then the college will release the CAT cert to u, because the CAT cert was issued by sunway, the ACCA certs are issued by UK.

theres nothing much about sunway, just the toilets are not that clean  sweat.gif

just attend classes and do ur assigments and u'll pass
*
it was included in ur CAT fee... =.=
it's part of their cost..u dun think they wont charge it back to u uh? =P
