1) Is ACCA same as CPA Australia?
2) After getting ACCA, can get into MIA straight away? Or still need 3 years of working exp under a qualified accountant?

Me and my gf just recently graduate from Victoria University of Wellington. Already apply for accessment for CPA (in Jan) but haiz....until now only got their receipt of payment. They are damn slack when doing works.

I am not too sure about CPA, but i think its of the same level, since both CPA and ACCA are accepted by the big 4 accounting firm and MIA.

Yes, u can get the MIA membership once u are a member of ACCA.
But the problem is, to become a member of ACCA, u need 3 years working experience under a member of the approved local accounting body, which means u have u work in an accounting firm or work under anyone who is a member of MIA or MICPA for 3 years, no shortcut.

Ur working experience while studying ACCA is still counted

one more thing, i know sunway has an affiliation with the Oxford Brookes University.

for students who are taking ACCA in sunway, after u have passed ur part 2, u can submit a report to OBU and u'll get a degree.

i am not sure if other colleges are offering this package, find out more from sunway.

i think any college will do... if im not mistaken tis degree is not recognise by Malaysian government ( but wont u wan to wrok wif govnt meh?? )
tis OBU is very good coz if u knot pass ur part3, at least u hav a degree when u r applying for jobs... hehe....

may i ask is studying SUNWAY reali tat pressure?? coz my fren at there juz lik very very busy... everyday got class.... coz im goin there to continue my part 2 in july....

PAAC is near KLCC there...take lrt to KLCC station can walk to the college already..it's at Megan Phileo Avenue..same row with Australian Embassy...i think CAT course only cost bout 4-5k at PAAC (excluding ACCA registration,subscription and exam fee)...u might wanna drop by and check the fees and the place out urself..the staff are friendly there

they r the same level...but for the employee,ACCA is preferred bcos it's more recognise....in case u didnt know ACCA recognise is many many countries...furthermore,ACCA got malaysian variant for tax and law as well as standards..i dunno whether CPA Australia have them ^^

when u have ACCA membership u can apply for MIA membership..to get ACCA membership u need 3 yrs relevant working experience


it's not sunway who has the affliation
it's ACCA...OBU's degree in applied accounting is ACCA-OBU project...the research project that u do will only decide whether u fail or pass.....once u pass, the class(1st class,2nd class etc) for the degree is decided by the average marks u get in whole part 2 of ACCA

many colleges are offering mentor to do the research stuff...as i know sunway,FTMS and PAAC have it..dunno bout other colleges...and as usual it's more expensive in sunway compared to other colleges..a friend of mine in sunway said it costs bout 4-5k for the mentor help in the research paper..while others are below 1k....it's a MUST to have a mentor to complete the research paper

yah OBU degree is something to fall back on incase we keep failing part 3..*crosses finger* hope i dont LOL

and errmm..sunway pressure bcos they have classes everyday and their mock exams are important to decide whether they r allowed to sit for the real exams...it's REALLY a college life when u study in sunway while the others only have classes like 1 or 2 classes of 3 hours per week per subject....easy life out there compared to sunway.maybe that's why it's much more expensive in sunway ^^

Can u tell me more about C.A.T and ACCA in sunway coll timetable n payment.....

coz i looking for a full time ( everyday class ) courses in C.A.T / ACCA.. coz i can't tahan in FTMS life.... 2 classes a week.. too bored...

firstly i thought the ACCA / CAT exam paper is same in every colleges...b'coz it is an international paper wat....

But now i found a very cheap Exam paper in 1 college.... and can we study in "A" college but exam in "B" college ???

and Annual Fee for ACCA, RE-register for ACCA also cheaper than my college....

yah he's right i'm not from sunway LOL

but from my frens who r from sunway,they have classes like other courses...everyday got class etc...unlike other institutes which only have 1 or 2 classes per subject

if u think 2 classes a week is too bored maybe u want to take up some other courses that will upgrade ur skill etc.....or enjoy a bit at the beginning of the semester then study hard 1 or 2 months before the exams...this is because ACCA is more to self discipline and i find myself at part 3 now dont have time to have fun...i have classes almost everyday(although only 3 hours classes)...this is because i have to study bcos 3 hours is not enuff to make u pass....practising questions and revising is very very helpful...CAT is easy at the beginning(since u mac 2005 intake..i assume u taking paper 1 and 2 only).....once u get to higher level it will be difficult and u wish u'll have more time...maybe i just like to have fun =P

at sunway,payment is more than double at other institutes...but they cover LAN subjects and they give extra classes......


dont follow the site 1...ACCA revise their price every yr..the site is most probably update...wherever u study,the ACCA fee is paid to ACCA therefore,it'll all be the same...

and u r right bout ti's external paper...everyone will study the same thing in the same paper of same country variant....

and pls dont see it as studying in A college and taking exam in B college...it's just that B college is selected as an exam centre for that area....B college is selected for various reasons and not bcos it's a better college who offer ACCA better...it's just that it has better facilities and environment(maybe?)..for example,PJ area is Sunway College(who happens to offer ACCA courses)...but in cheras,UCSI is picked but they r not offering any ACCA courses...u must differentiate between exam centre and tuition provider

i failed my C4(CAT) and 2.4 once..

now i'm taking 2.4 together with my optional part 3 paper...audit and taxation...

so hard~~~

compulsory to take LAN subject, need to take moral study and history.

also, if ur BM din get credit in SPM, u need to take additional BM paper.

i think the LAN subject was free for the first time u sit for it, dont think i paid for it. anyway, its internal one, just do a presentation and answer a few questions, nothing much.

i remember last i had to pass the LAN only then the college will release the CAT cert to u, because the CAT cert was issued by sunway, the ACCA certs are issued by UK.

theres nothing much about sunway, just the toilets are not that clean

just attend classes and do ur assigments and u'll pass

2.4 is easy, focus on finance part
3.1 just bulls**t
3.2 hardwork

If I am going to study SUNWAY, where is the most ideal place to stay?
How much is the rental?
Is the food there more expensive than PJ?

is there any CIMA student here?
