how cheap compared with 50mm 1.8?

Just wondering, what made you D5000 users here get it instead of the D90? Doesn't the lack of the in-body AF-motor worry you?

Would like to add something here. I used to have the hood for the 18-55 kit lens and didn't find it really useful to me I felt it wasn't deep enough to prevent flare.
To give my opinion on ne3ro's post very likely he is looking for a better image and better range where I and most of us originally were. I would recommend that he change the kit lens to the 18-105VR first and think of the other options like tele lenses etc later. This will already give a better image in the most useful 18-50 range.

Anyway... we can't compare the 18-200 to the 55-200 as they are 2 totally different lenses with different functions. The 18-200 is actually more of an 18-105 + better stabiliser (VRII) + better range and better build quality. Bearing in mind that he is using a D3000 which is similar to the D40/60 in weight the 18-200 is a heavy lens will make your body feel imbalanced and "head heavy". All that said above, will stick to recommending him to change to 18-105 VR first to improve image quality first and add 70-300 VR when he can afford it for tele.

18-105 + 55-200 = sharp from 18 to 200 = RM2k.
18-55 + 55-200 = sharp from 18 to 200 = RM1k.

1st point i agreed it is more convenient btw 56-105 would be redundant depends on the usage ... 2nd point got reference? Thanks.

is it noticeably sharp or just comparing graph? got link? want to buy 55-200 but after reading this, maybe reconsider...

or u could buy the 70-300 which is cost only 400 bucks.. i'm considering this 70-300, 55-200 doesnt impress me much.. if i want a better & (+little bit money) telephoto lens, it would be 70-200 2.8 lens..

is this 18-105 is the d90 kit lense? anyone want to sell? hehe...

i get my d3k in penang for a good price. shop near komtar... forgot its name tho...

if i want to play with cls.... what minimum unit that i must have??? i got budget next year around 1k only is it enough or need to save much more???
p/s: cant to this weekend.... will go to nikon whole day photography course for d3000 user....hope get more info there...

there is a way to do wireless flash on d40 as i tried it before in a photography course, but i m not sure how to set it up. Of course a d40 dont have a commander mode to control all the slave.

Having both the SB-600 and Di-622 I would say that power of both is about the same and the 866 (on paper) is in more in the range of the SB-900. As for the SB-600 with optical trigger, it does work if you add an external "sensor eye".

The 18-200 VR, despite some weak spots, with VR II stabilisation and such a wide range it is a very useful lens and can substitute any lens between 18 and 200 and deliver decent performance. Anyway to me, I feel the combo should be more of 18-105+70-300 (105-450 for DX) rather than 18-105+55-200. the 70-300 adds VRII stabilisation. I used to have both 18-135 and 55-200VR, at the long end, the 55-200 VR isn't that much longer (also taking into account minimal focal distance difference) and is softer in the 135-200 range.

D5000 and D3000 are 2 different camera, not just different in functions (live view, video, 2 extra MP), but also different in sensor, D3000 (CCD) vs D5000 (CMOS). D3000 is like D80 brain in D40 body while D5000 is D90 brain in D40 body. Therefore, noise control of D5000 is better than D3000.

If you prefer daylight photograph or into landscape, D3000 gives you more vibrant colours with CCD sensor. While D5000 gives you more flexibility in low-light situation, its color is less saturated and slightly greyish. Just my 2cents.

Crop factor applies from FX to DX or vice versa only. DX lens DX body no crop factor.

Guys, last 2 days i tried D300 with 50mm f/1.4D. Damn the picture produced so cun one! Makes me want to sell my D60 instantaneously! By the way,35mm f/1.8G is very nice on my D60. My new target lens.

Hi all,

I just bought my D3000 not more than a week (4days to be exact), bought Body Only for RM1620 and top up RM130 for 4GB, a DSLR bag (cheap one), a tripop and a screen protector... (The screen protector brand DC what RSP is RM199, really expensive, but I dun know whether the price goes like this cause I'm new in this hobby).

I'm now having a Nikkor 18-200mm borrow from friend to play around. Actually aiming Nikkor 18-105mm (D90 Kitlens) to fit my D3000 for travelling purpose... Anyone here know where can get 2nd hand cheap?? or anyone here willing to let go theirs?? Pls let me know... Budget is around RM750.

I hope can learn something from all the Sifus here.. 

P/S: Planning to go Bkt Tinggi near Genting tomorrow for Photo Shooting cum outing... Might post some photos for urs comment... I'm really noob in this.
