Between Nikon Coolpix P100 and this camera, which one is better overall?

My mom wants to buy a digital camera and I know absolutely nothing about it, those ISO and stuffs.

I think the price is almost similar right?

Meh, gonna do more research.

Added on April 30, 2010, 8:12 amAnd one more thing, is it easy to use? My mom's is gonna use it not me.

Do you guys have any other recommendation of cameras with similar price to the LX3?

I think that LX3 looks a bit complicated, thats why I have a second thought.

Dunno bout ur mum.. but if it were my mum, she'll definitely only point & shoot.. and wouldn't care less about all the manual ability of an LX3.. most of the time it'll be in the"iA" mode.. hehe..

~came to think bout it.. even my wife only shoots in "iA" mode.. hehe..

Go wif other simple P&S from Lumix.. ZR1 is not bad.. i tried my fren.. and feel quite jealous of the Power OIS.. more stable and more zoom.. but creativity limited.. so if normal user i tink is perfect enough~~ icon_rolleyes.gif

But iA mode in LX3 is already good thumbup.gif pictures are nice and sharp but of course manual settings would be better lar biggrin.gif

TBH,LX3 is a bit bulky, might wanna look for other slim shooters like Sony's T series tongue.gif

the iA mode is what made me want to buy this for her. the front page of this thread is also influencing me. REAL CROWNED CHAMPION KING OF THE KING : LX3

Added on April 30, 2010, 3:58 pmI asked my mom earlier, and she said she doesn't care about the appearance of the camera. heh tongue.gif

I see ... was that difficult to use? My dad needs a compact camera with good quality and he wants to learns the basic features where DSLR has.
While because I saw it doesn't have many photo scene selection where it only comes with PASM and the auto mode.
