You should....custom roms not only make your hero perform more faster & most important....the market....tons of appl  to explore....

I just loaded MCR3.0c x tck 1.9 ......it's rocks man...

Lox's HERO21 1.4 is a very testy ROM to me, so I flashed to his AOSP Eclair Beta 1 w/ gapps. An awesome ROM with a fast rebooting time. I said this is it. The best ROM without those HTC craps, and I'm going to stick with this ROM from now on.

But gawd damn I can't see certain app I bought e.g. twidroid PRO.

Fall back to MCR 3.0c ;_;

If you use Google Contacts, you don't have to worry. Your contacts' FB profiles are synced with Google Contacts :-)

There are many ways to get to paid apps in Market. The easiest is by using MarketEnabler. You can follow shahz' tutorial for that.

I personally use MarketEnabler. Not the app, but the underlying script of MarketEnabler. I refuse to use the app because I don't like it. The UI is horrendous.

You may want to use an alternative, described below :-)

1. Search and install Gscript.



2. Copy and paste this to Notepad.

3. Save it as T-Mobile.sh
NB: Observe the extension. The extension is .sh. Not .txt.

4. Copy and paste T-Mobile.sh to gscript folder in you sdcard. Create the folder is the folder is not there.
NB: I like Graphis Girl :3



5. Now load the T-Mobile.sh from GScript. Just click Load file and pick the T-Mobile.sh inside your gscript folder.



6. Run the newly imported script
NB: Ignore the stderr error.



7. Check your Market :-)

Tips: How to check if you have paid apps or not? Just look at the main page of your Market. If you have Featured apps with icons and title, then confirmed you have the paid apps.



If you have the Featured apps blanked, without icons and titles, then you suck. No paid apps thar!

There is another way of getting paid apps without MarketEnabler, this tiem using adb method :-)

@clivengu : i've same problem before.. try other method here:

1) find "Better Terminal Emulator"
2) Open then type : su
3) type in : setprop gsm.sim.operator.numeric  310260
4) type in : getprop gsm.sim.operator.numeric (to see ist set to 310260 or not.. if 310260 appear then u are done)
5) Go to setting -> application -> manage application -> find market -> clear cache -> force closed -> exit
6) Go to Home -> Menu -> market run it.. then u will see paid app.

3. MCR= MoDaCo Custom ROM, so yes they are the same. ROM is the firmware of the phone, so it depends on the dev to wether change the appearance or not. Well AFAIK MCR have Sense UI similar with stock Hero phones, but with added functionality.

Just to test my own understanding,

1. Hero original ROM is based on 1.5 firmware, codenamed Cupcake. Observe the alphabet. Cupcake, 1.5. Donut, 1.6. Eclair, 2.0. Flan, 2.X

2. AOSP is basically a ROM. This ROM is intended to be without Google's app. Which means no Market, no Gmail etc.

3. MCR is a short name for MoDaCo Custom ROM. This ROM is baked by Paul, an admin from www.modaco.com

4. Teknologist's Custom Kernel, or TCK. Read his extended explanation at http://android.teknologism.org/

5. Amon RA is one of many custom recovery images. You can't flash custom ROM with original recovery image. To flash custom ROM (e.g. AOSP or MCR) you need to use custom ROM.

6. AOSP will always be in development. Stick with original ROM (or maybe MCR) if you wanted a stable phone. The rule of the game is simple. Don't fack your phone if you don't want your phone to fack you.

7. The most 'stable' will be your original ROM. The ROM should be good enough for you uncles and aunties.

8. Nandroid backup is the exact image of your phone's current state. Just like a photo. In fact, more than a photo.

A photo is a visual representation of a state of time. A photo of you kissing Adriana Lima is a visual explanation what was happening with you in Brazil. That photo doesn't tell you what happened before and after the kissing. That exact time.

The point is, a Nandroid backup is an exact representation of state of your phone. Good thing about Nandroid is, you can always use it to get back to the previous state of your phone.

Unfortunately, you can never get Adriana Lima kissing you again and again from a photo. You need to fap for that.

9. No need. I mean fack that original stuff. You can flash any suitable ROM you want without going back to original.

10. You can backup your APN settings with an app, APN Backup & Restore. Search for it from Market.

11. Google Goggles is for 1.6+. You can't never have Goggles if you use original ROM or MCR as they are running 1.5 firmware.

clivengu, before you delete all the duplicates, you should try this way,

in people, hit menu > view and select google only. unchecked others.

i think all the duplicates will dissappear from view.

for me, i back up my contacts in outlook. then i export the contacts to .csv file and import it in google. then for everytime i flash new roms, i just sync with google. i never save any contacts in my phone.

Do you mean now if you go to Google Contacts on your pc, your contacts are all not there?

When I migrated from Symbian, I have this duplicated problem also, what I did is following this->

I do all the merging and deleting on the PC, since I don't know how to merge contacts on the phone, then I just sync it once and all's good.
