new firmware already out! its v12.

Firmware v 12.0.088 in Navifirm.
0595196: Nokia X6 RM-559 Country Variant China CN PRC 3G 32GB White/Blue
0595084: Nokia X6 RM-559 Country Variant China CN PRC 3G Black/Red

pro:
- no in-between hang. usually when i open an application (whatever, music player, nimbuzz etc) there must be a milliseconds hang/1 seconds hang, but now its gone. it seems seamless. except when doing multitasking, abit slow. but overall improved performance.

cons:
- i dunno its the effect after updating firmware or not because i already backup all songs/contact etc, and do hard reset (*#7370#) before updating, then suddenly all my games downloaded from Ovi store gone. there's a few apps left, but thing like nimbuzz also gone.
- the must frustrating is when i try to play songs, i have to require license for hundreds of song all over again. it gives license by per album, so if you download an album with 14 tracks, just update license for 1 song, and other 13 songs can play also.

imagine if you have hundreds of albums, sure tedious. rclxub.gif

but i wonder why UK version got different firmware update? hmm.gif

FW 12.0.091
0595749: Nokia X6 RM-559 Country Variant United Kingdom GB V1 Black

i just realized something which is quite important to X6 user here, so I think I just type it here.

The White Screen Of Death (copy form 5800's thread. Thanks to Xploit Machine for this tutorial!)

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Okay. At first in the early post of this topic, there's someone who already experienced WSOD. I thought why? And then I just realized how it happened and how to PREVENT it happened. (again, to me tongue.gif )

It happened when the phone failed to verify the integrity of memory card. And some of you might think, WTH?, this phone had no memory card slot! It has 32GB internal memory.

There are 2 types of memory in X6.

1. Phone memory (200++ MB I think)
2. Mass Memory (32GB)

This mass memory actually recognized by phone as memory card and it connected to the phone using USB connection which is one of the reason X6 is quite.... slowww.

My tips here:
-Install whatever themes in phone memory. Usually it takes less then 1MB per theme. So should be OK.
-Don't leave music Player app opened when you are not using it. Same thing implies to all apps.

and the most don't....

-DON'T EVER LEAVE THE BATTERY DRAIN OUT. EVER. Charge up when battery is low.

Why?

It is same as N97/5800XM. It's when you leave the battery drain out, and the apps still open, its same like you plugged out memory card from PC without 'Safely Remove Hardware/Eject' and as the result, when you try to on/boot up the phone, it failed to verify the integrity of memory card and, WSOD happen!

How to solve it? Hard reset. The memory still intact after reset, as long you don't play with inserting/ejecting batteries, headphones, charger. Step by step tutorial contained in the above spoiler.

It happened last night to me, when I played games + music until the battery's low, and me, sleep. tongue.gif After I wake up, the battery drained out, and this happened.

Hope this helps. smile.gif

i wanna ask something.

if the phone have unlimited internet subscription (per day/per week/per month), and want to use AGPS in Ovi Maps, is there any additional charges implied from telco?

FYI, i'm using Hotlink prepaid.

Tried out the Ovi Maps navigation today. Nice turn by turn navigation. very responsive and the maps are quite accurate ( for mutiara damansara). But its a real battery guzzler
*
the term 'accurate' is what i'm afraid of. the main road from my neighborhood to town at Johor is missing!

hmm.gif

I remember a few years back when an old lady in USA accidentally drive into a pond with her car when she using GPS. sweat.gif

gonna try tomorrow using GPS while driving and walking.

If im not mistaken
1) Connect ur X6 using the supplied usb cable...When being asked on type of connection, choose "Media Transfer"
2) Open up ur Nokia Ovi Player. You should see ur X6 detected on the app.
3) Navigate to it...find the song that u hve downloaded and transfer it thumbup.gif

Before someone said that why that much hassle...just use sync func etc etc....I have to say that not many of us really familiar on Sync function yet (and that include me LOL laugh.gif )...And I've seen a lot of people accidentally wiped out songs on their Ipod due to syncing with wrong computer nod.gif

after transfer, is tat any way to play in normal player??
*
use WMP. i tried using foobar2000, kenot. since I only use these 2 types of player in my PC.

WMP also abit slow, since it need to process the DRM, but it detects per album, so if u have an album, and switching track, its faster compare to switching tracks with different album.

its not convert. it's removing the DRM embedded in the file.

but if you can get hold of it, CMW will be Napster in 1999 or KaZaa in 2003. tongue.gif

and normal people cannot remove DRM. those warez people who distribute warez can. unless you can get contact with them, I think it is impossible to remove the DRM. laugh.gif

This a lousy phone. Please believe me. I wasted my RM1920. The truth always hurt.

Added on February 12, 2010, 9:28 pm

Yes very laggy. This phone is not suitable for big finger.
*
big finger not suitable? i use it, so far ok now. 180cm with big hand. no prob. tongue.gif

that laggy is quite annoying sometimes. not be able to sync is more irritating. vmad.gif
