Yes, I have managed to run the following games in Windows XP without any configuration:

1. Freespace 1
2. Freespace 2
3. Fallout 1

I need the tick the Windows 98 compatibility mode for Fallout Tactics.

And yes they all run full screen with my 24inch LCD, however it's stretched.

Got it. It no longer looks stretched.

Graphics maybe dated but the story is still gold.

I think the promo is on every interplay games; this is the best time to get all 3 classic fallout games, the problem is now i need to think of a fourth game.

The good oldies this is the time where i use to rock the alien world with plasma gun in duke nukem 3d during my youth.

How about the following

1. Freespace 2?

2. Kabuto?

3. Sacrifice?

Personally, I would go for Freespace 2 since the community modded it so heavily where its mod is around 8gb with around 5 extra campaigns and all its movies reworked.

Since got the 1for 1, i thinking of getting fallout and fallout 2. But someone here said that fallout tactics doesnt work 100% and need to put into compatability mode sucks abit.

I wonder if these games will be compatible when windows 7 comes out. Will there be any support for windows 7 for current existing games?

I also waiting when the gog actually do x-com but not the whole series, just unknown enemy and terror from the deep.

It is likely to be compatible with Windows 7 since they claimed most games are compatible with Vista.

Also, there is a very active community which you can rely on.

Steam got their DRM where you need to be online for some games 2 work. Plus it doesnt update some of their olders game like their x-com catalog which needs dosbox 2 run since they didnt update it for newer OS.

Best of all most gog games that i've checked out are compatible for 32 as well as 64bit OS.

Sometimes games are cheaper in Steam and sometimes in GOG.

For eg. Jagged Alliance 2 Gold in cheaper in Steam now, whilst Sacrifice is cheaper in GOG.

Also, do check the forums first in GOG whether do they have loads of mods that may have to overwrite the .exe files.

Generally, I get full speed download from GOG these days.

I'm thinking if anyone interested into Heroes 3 multi play.. LOL

But steam doest make them fully compatible on xp or vista, gog does which is worth my money. Buying a game at gog is similiar to a large Carls junior meal with cheese fries.

Just bought fallout 1 and got fallout 2 free. Baru install and my fallout icon come out some bearded pirate by the name of tim cain.

I have tried the Fallout 1 and Fallout 2 high resolution pack.

Some notes with regards the Fallout 1 high res pac:

- Can't run it at 1920x1200, 16 bit, crashes on startup, runs find on 1920x1200 8 bit, ingame fonts was a bit too small for me, suggest to run on 1440x800.

Some notes with regards the Fallout 2 high res pac:

- Able to run all res 16 bit or 8 bit well, fonts are similar for most resolutions.

* I don't think the Steam version can be mod as this reso packs actually modify the executable file.

as far as i know, no. you dont need any sort of thing like that to run/install ur game; no DRM.

Upon downloading, you will get a single executable installation file whereby you can install in any PC to your liking without any DRM.

Those games you listed used to be free (eg. Beneath a Steel Sky, Temptress and what not)

Remember to download the High resolution pack for Fallout 1 and Fallout 2.

I paid a lot more for the three Fallouts.

hmmm, for classic single player games such as fallout 1, 2, tactics, it is much better to get them on GOG rather than steam oh.

besides cheaper price, there is also DRM free downloads.

Also, they are better configured to play on Windows.

Not necessarily cheaper than Steam, some games are actually more expensive than Steam.

Don't really like getting old Games on Steam.

Few of the old games I bought in Steam can't really run at all.

bought Freespace 1+2 for nostalgia sake but the dl server is getting raped averaging just 5kb/s yikes.

Remember to download the mods for Freespace 1 and Freespace 2.

The mods make the game look better and comes with other campaign made by fans.

My first GOG purchase (currently downloading):
1- Divine Divinity (never played before)
2- Psychonaut (never played before)
3- Advent Rising (finished the xbox version) just want to try the better texture PC version.

I've tried tex murphy 1 & 2 on vista and it sucked big time. It wasnt very stable and emulating the gameplay was terrible.

At least the fallout series fair better.

There's no reason not to fall in love with this one. Who doesn't like to kill half-ling with an Elephant gun?
Plus it's only USD 6.00.
In my opinion, Arcanum is one of its kind only (free form CRPG set in a steampunk world) and it was made by former developers of Fallout, which is also one of the best CRPG ever made.

Besides, I have like 20+ games in GOG and have yet to really play with them.

Will only buy if I have got the time to play.
