anybody knows how to make the E71 into silent mode including the sound of all apps and alarms? at the moment, silent profile is only for calls and contacts, it wont silent programs like garmin and alarm clock..

i just found out about this neat tool: iON BatteryTimer for S60 3rd v1.03 by Capree Mobile. check out: http://www.capree.com/ for the software.

It gives 9days trial and costs about $7 for a full version. I'm sure that won't stop you from trying this neat tool out..

Anyway its a battery indicator and really useful for us who are always concerned with our E71 battery status.

emmm there's a lot to troubleshoot in this case..maybe try the below:-

1. Menu > Tools > Settings > Connection > Wireless LAN > Show availability (Set to never)

2. if you have WLAN at your active shortcut, "switch WLAN scanning off". if you don't go to step 3.

3. Menu > Tools > Settings > General > Personalization > Home screen > Mode Settings > Home screen applications > Enabled Applications > check Wireless LAN. Once the shortcut available at home screen (active shortcut), go to step 2.

4. Go to email applications, find the network connections and change to "always ask" or disable automatic retrieval.

let us know if it works.

aih? why so fast? mine comes up with "calculation in progress..ion needs the standard battery indicator to drop 2 bars to provide first estimation"

is it u use ur phone so much, the battery drop so fast is it?

anyway most ppl say the indication will be very accurate after 2 full cycle charge...so this app IS NOT your standard battery indicator.. it really calculates ur battery level..

emmm..mine got reading already but seems not accurate yet..battery got 6 bars still but the app says only 47%. then i reset it suddenly changed the values but doesn't make sense as it keeps changing (getting more) after each reset until can go up to 200% battery level..

another thing is the standby plugin cannot show proper d / h / m values..it show something like 11 (square) 22 (square) 30% (square) like that.. vaxi urs is ok is it?

well we can only hope... i just reinstalled the software and using version 1.03 now.. seems better..will give it further try and see..

mine earlier was 1.02...now using 1.03..i'm also using full version but it seems my standby plugin still doesn't work (number comes with squares instead of "h" and "min") even with latest version. . btw i'm using e71 firmware 300, what about u xavi?

thats just installation files not properly cleared. Just cancel it and reinstall the opera app, it should then go away..

ok..tried and confirm that it works..was definitely the font issue..thanx xavi

now have to try different fonts..the mod font was a bit too big for me..even date on homescreen have '---' coz too big.

nevermind...found the solution already, change zoomratio in fontrouter.ini

yesterday first time my E71 hang on me, had to remove battery to reboot. i was turning off the phone when suddenly iON batterytimer powersaver screen came up and it just freeze...hehe

xavi n aspire, hows ur ion? my accuracy still poor and average life now 1d 20hr only..this is my 3rd or 4th recharge already...but i never waited for the phone to go dead before recharging..

i think u can solve it by downloading nokia email app. had this problem before. once u download, it will ask u to connect to server, just cancel it if u plan not to use nokia email.

by the way, download nokia email using the 'download' option and what i meant by not using nokia email is u can still use the normal messaging email even if u dont setup ur nokia email.

check to see if smses are kept in internal or external memory.. i had this confusion as well during my 'first encounter' with my e71.

Added on October 28, 2009, 8:41 amby using nokia email which u need to register (for free at the moment), all emails shall be sent to nokia email app via their own server instantly and gives kinda "push email" effect. This service is to compete with blackberry or push emails services currently in the market and nokia email itself is still in beta stage. so emails will be sent to ur phone instantly as the server detects the email (but u'll need nokia email to be turned on all the time and may use up battery quite significantly)

contrary to normal messaging email, you'll only get new emails when you check and may need to "check new emails" oftenly. therefore new emails detection are not immediate.

both works the same to me who is not very anxious to get emails but may be different to others who are doing business thru emails.

by the way, you can still use the messaging email, just cancel it when nokia emails ask to connect to server and setup ur messaging email manually.
