i've updated mine...so far so good

No hangs so far..
quickoffice ok.. 6.2.153
sms also ok.. both native and free i-sms
skyfire ok..opera mini not yet installed
receive calls ok..
browsing files ok...using activefile

what i did was:-

1. Backup all apps, documents and garmin gpx files (from memory card)
2. Format my memory card
3. Backup all contacts, notes and calendars to outlook via PC Suite
4. Backup Messages via PC Suite
5. Hard reset phone via *#7370#
6. Update via NSU (Make sure you have good internet line)
7. Synchronize contact, notes, calendars, messages via PC Suite
8. Reinstall apps

i've tried safenote before..but it seems not really reliable coz there are instances of data loss..so i assumed the app not really well made...let me know if u find any good ones..

well if u use words or quickoffice to store the data, you can actually password protect the document.. there is no need to use file lock in this case.. i just don't really prefer quickoffice as i'll need a few more clicks to access the doc..

i just found out my garmin gpx files is not working, as in my old POIs are not there anymore..damnn there goes all my position locks...i've done before which is to just copy the GPX folder, what did i do wrong huh? guess i'll have to re-lock all the places again..haihhhh

EDIT:ok i just figured out how to do the POI backup..i made a mistake..i should put this in my blog as a reminder for myself.

no lah mine also same version 5.3..i have the quickoffice v6.2 installer so i just install loh..

btw xavi, my ion batterytimer accuracy now is 'good'..have to let the battery go flat at least 3 times...

v6.2 dont have adobe 2.5, only adobe reader LE 1.5...coz we only have free upgrade for quickoffice 6 only, adobe not included..

have to let the battery go flat so that the ion accuracy can change to 'good'..if not it stays at 'poor'..went outstation alot so battery only lasted a day with nokia messaging always on and used garmin a lot...hehe

yup thats right.

thought i'd give the link anyway for others who dont have 3G or bad wifi connection on phone. i sometimes have hard time to download to phone compared downloading from PC....guess its the browser..

u'll need to install the symbian app - animated sms... google it.

yup i covered this in my blog...just use PC Suite previous version will solve the problem..latest one got bug..

I know the backup problem occurs with pcsuite ver 7.1.40, no problem with 7.1.18 though.

supposedly no, it defeats the purpose of using gps on the road where there's no wifi or wlan...there might be some usage of gps though since nowadays using A-GPS which is gps assisted with internet lock to pin point towers or something like that..

Nimbuzz new version is out. It now supports popup notifications!! So you leave it in the background, it'll popup any chat message to your main screen if there is any. cool!

yup..same case here..also you won't be able to use ur E71 as modem with the latest PC Suite..

but 1 good thing about the new PC Suite is that i was able to browse memory card better with the latest PC Suite..older versions would hang my PC everytime i access my memory card in 'PC Suite' mode..

as for the USB modem, i resolved my issue by installing latest connectivity cable driver..

u need to let the battery fully discharge - fon must be fully out before recharge. its full charge/DISCHARGE cycle..

mine is 'optimal' now..

yup u're right..it will decrease the lifespan of the battery...so just bear with 'average' status should do..i'm fed up with my battery i dun care anymore, i'm charging it daily anyway...hehehe..now average lifespan is 1d 10hr

hehe check my blog..got this covered. anyway, its the connectivity cable driver.

it must be the driver for e71 then..

2. when remove, means driver was removed.
3. ok
4. connect E71 to PC - on your E71 select 'connect PC to web' then your PC will prompt new hardware and will install, just let it install first.
5. If error, run again the driver, and select repair.
6. Restart the nokia PC Access.
