depends on the bitrate/rez size lor.. RMVB 1.5GB 720p vs 640x480 MKV..  tongue.gif

MKV can be in any rez.. doesn;t mean must be HD 720p or 1080p.. so unless you give more specifics, can't really say which is better..

I havent tried a MKV 1.5GB 720p vs RMVB 1.5GB 720p before..

cos pitting a standard 4.3GB MKV vs a 1.5GB RMVB aint exactly fair comparison..

Talk about mkv files, is there any SQ difference comparing between 720p and 1080p? To add details, I am taking consideration in DTS format.

720p and 1080p refers to picture format/resolution/quality.

I cant imagine why would a 1080p have better DTS sounds compared to 720p unless it has a higher audio bitrate

What's the difference between RMVB n MKV. Which one better.
*
To me, If I just want to watch and delete such as TV series or B grade movies, RMVB is my choice due to its smaller size and faster to complete downloading. If those movie worth keeping and wanna enjoy the sound quality, I will go for mkv...

My 2 cents...

1 USD = 3.4914982 Malaysian ringgits, so that would be about RM349. By the time arrive to Bolehland I wonder how much would it be? Would this price be within TS's budget?

For that price there will be better and cheaper media player especially ones with Realtek 1073DD chipset coming out from China in the following months. Some thing like this to play most movie files? >> http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...post&p=28512034?

Nothing is 100%. Reality check, just look at WDTV thread. WDTV can't play DTS also, you need to buy WDTV LIVE. sweat.gif
All electronic equipment, nowadays is 'used and throw' so don't expect much for long term customer support from manufacturers. Consumers need to be more aware of the pitfalls by being more knowledgeable and keep each other info of current happenings
QUOTE(wuanzi @ Sep 5 2009, 03:27 PM)
I think somehow WD has given up on WDTV firmware upgrade and fully focuses on their new product - WDTV live,
well, in this respect, I have also given up on WDTV and gotten other players - HDX1000 (same sigma 8635 but supports HD audio and is a NMT) and Xtreamer (basing on Realtek chipset and can serve as a NMT + support RMVB - can be used to watch US reality TV shows - which we can't even buy discs to watch).  Am pretty satisfied with HDX1000 - its image quality is top notch.  As for Xtreamer - while I can't spot any difference wrt the image quality with that of HDX, uPNP and web interface is still buggy)

It is somewhat true.... May be the manufacturers want us to spend on the new model and purposely delay the support upgrade pack etc flex.gif

sure nothing is 100%, but 80-85% compatibility is still better than 60% rite?
at least even my basic my Egreat outperforms wd, with wider compatibility of MKV especially 1080 + get DTS downmix compared to the the WDTV at slightly 100 bucks more.. so it pays to do some research before buying.. unless you fond of buying similar items twice just to upgrade their functions.. biggrin.gif

Egreat may not be so great, correct me if I'm wrong, it does not support RMVB.
