Actually jailbreaking the phone won't slow it down, installing too many mobile substrate apps especially Winterboard will cause some lags to the system. Mobile Substrate add ons/apps will increase the memory usage thus slowing down the phone. Just now I did some experiments with 2 phones, 1 with Winterboard and 1 without. The result:

Without Winterboard
- Apps open within 2-3 secs
- Apps crash less

With Winterboard
- Apps open within 5-6 secs (more than 100% increase in time)
- Apps prone to crash (due to high usage of memory)

You can test it yourself if you have Winterboard and SBSettings installed. Run the phone in Safe Mode and you'll see the difference.

I didn't know that 2.30.03 can be software unlock? We're talking about 2.30.03 from 2.2.1 on iPhone 3G right?

Why do u want to delete "others"? Thats where the phone keeps all the data thats not in the video, app and etc category such as SMS, note, apps/games settings and other system stuff.

Maxis are getting more and more desperate to even trade in the old iPhone for the new ones!!!

That is just plain annoying.

Well it seems like a custom made theme. If it's not publish then you can't find it anywhere until the owner of the theme decide to share it with others. Maybe you can make your own winterboard theme (don't ask me as I've stop using winterboard long time ago).

2nd ... is your phone jailbreaked?

3rd ... I was like you last time, feel something wrong if the usage and standby did not show the time but I've learn to live without it as I respring the springboard alot. That bring to my 2nd Q above, if your iphone is jailbreaked? If you do then a respring (reload) of the springboard will reset back the usage time. This can be done by lots of program or utilities i.e cydia/installer/icy or sbsettings/bossprefs. If you did not jailbreak you phone, I might suggest u to do a power cycle (use until battery kaput@habis@kong then charge back) but I'm not sure whether that may help.

First of all ... can you list the IPSW file that you download to restore the phone? My concern is why the phone was detected as iPod by iTunes.

It's either the firmware file (IPSW) that you download is incorrect or you did something wrong within pwnagetool/quickpwn. Make sure you download the latest pwnagetool/quickpwn.

Can you go thru (something like summary) on how you did the restore from step 1? That might help in troubleshooting your problem.

errr you run the pwnagetool in the DMG and not extract it first?

I suggest you to do this:

1. Restore the phone using the normal firmware (not the one created with pwnagetool)
2. After finish restoring, your phone will be at the activation page and itunes said it need to be activated or the sim are not recognized. Nevermind, just close itunes.
3. Open Quickpwn (after your drag the quickpwn software to your desktop). Don't run it in the DMG image file.
4. Follow the instruction in Quickpwn.
5. Don't worry if iTunes open up. Just close it back.
6. If everything goes well, your device should be jailbreak and activated without any problem.

What app and what kind of installer do u have (AppStore, Cydia, Installer, Icy)?

AppStore apps can be deleted with the 'X' mark on the app itself or unsync thru itunes while apps from other installer need to be uninstall thru their respective installer.

Since it's from the AppStore, just untick the apps in iTunes and do a sync. That will delete the apps from your phone (unless you got the apps from a XXX source).

If you know where the files are the go ahead.

I've been playing aroung with the carrier bundle and mobileconfig file but to no avail. Mmm there's always PDANet but would like it to be a native app, same with MMS. Well if it's not possible then no biggie.

I think they need to port some files/settings from the fw3.0 for 3G so it can be use for 2G iPhone. Thats why Apple push separate FW file between 2G and 3G.

I'm not that in need for MMS or Tethering but not having it natively made the phone feel incomplete ... if you know what i mean.

Wah no wonder I don't remember ... from 2008 woooo.

I don't know if that method still working or not and either the msg center number you entered for celcom is correct or not.

For the sms.db, what you can try is copy out the sms.db from /private/var/mobile/library/sms. Once you backup the file to your hard disk, delete the sms.db in your phone. Try sending a test sms to someone or to yourself. If you can get the reply, then replace back the old sms.db to the /private/var/mobile/library/sms. That should retain the permission and all.
