If you ask me, the firmware you're using is really up to you, and how you use your psp. For instance, if a user just plays homebrew and uses basic PSP functions like music and videos, I don't see the need of a new custom firmware. If you ask me, 3.52m33-4 would be sufficient. Else if he is a hardcore gamer, and buys new games all the time, but he still wants homebrew capability, then a new custom firmware would do good.
Also, in my opinion, there's no such thing as a custom firmware being unstable. You see, every programmer, even the best of the best tend to make simple mistakes that can cause several issues, and most of these bugs are fixed with newer updates etc. Example : There is a kernel bug in "5.00xxx" that causes some homebrew to freeze. Users who don't play homebrew wouldn't give a damn about this bug, and they would go around saying that 5.00xxx is a perfect firmware, and you should really have it etc, whereas a hardcore homebrew'er would definitely have a different opinion regarding the firmware. As I said earlier, it's all up to you. Heck, I would have remained at 3.40oe-a if it wasn't for the super-sweet AppleCor theme that was only available for 3.52m33-4 at that time. lol Added on September 1, 2009, 10:07 pm QUOTE(tssoo @ Sep 1 2009, 02:35 PM) Hello guys i am looking for a game called photo hunt , you try to find the 5 differences of two pictures.. does anyone has that? thanks guys for all the advices.
well my purpose of update is to keep up with the new games if not i won't bother to update it as long as the existing cfw is sufficient but it seems that is not the case. this will be my 1st update & i've some butterflies in my stomach doing it. these latest cfw 5.0 or 5.55ab does it have problems (lag / not support) playing ps1 / game boy games as what i can do now? Just execute the kit n the game runs fine. It will render step2 1-3 unnecessary. instruction on running soul calibur on psp2k with m33-6(direct copied from some forum) 1. go to recovery menu by holding R when you cold boot your psp 2. Enable 《Enable in Recovery menu: Advanced -> Advanced configuration -> Execute BOOT.BIN in UMD/ISO》 3. enter game, create a save file, exit game, delete save file, ,re-enter game, ignore save game notice 4. by right you shall able to play it on 5.00m33-6 " but could it run on psp 3001 as well? |

Lacus/Playboy21,
creating "virtual" pandora and magic memory stick using PSP Tool - is it safe? and also Im unclear on the reversal action to transform the "virtual" Pandora back to normal - any thaughts? I might be wrong but can this action to create "virtual" Pandora on PSP-2006 works? using Feb2008 PSP, I might suspect the motherboard does not allow the action to make "virtual" Pandora? -cheers- This post has been edited by Oxigen: Sep 2 2009, 01:20 PM |

QUOTE(azamen87 @ Sep 1 2009, 07:42 PM) for me, i prefer 5.00m33-6, just for the sake of ms speed up~ bout the savegame, none of my savegame i play back on newer firmware, coz after 1 game, i never touch it again...but better update, y? reason: no difference lah bro...if u dont update now, later some games need newer firmware. example: now ur playing dissidia on 4.01m33, then IF 5.55cfw come out, u want to play g.i joe. dissidia u oledi play 100% completion. when u change to 5.55cfw to play g.i joe, savegame dissidia corrupt. rugi rite? better u update to 5.00m33, play games, than when 5.55 come out, u can still play ur savegame. capiche? my UBER crisis core file which i've already invested 150 hours is saved under 3.71... currently i'm playing dissidia on 3.71 also..... i will not upgrade unless if i have to in order to play newer games. Update to 5.00 now also no use, later come out new fw, my gamesaves corrupt juga. The next game that can tempt me to upgrade is KH:Birth by sleep |

QUOTE(Oxigen @ Sep 2 2009, 01:13 PM) Lacus/Playboy21, You can make a Pandora's Battery using PSP Tool of course, but i'd rather go with Hellcat's Pandora installer. Anyway, there are two ways to revert your Pandora's Battery back to a normal functioning battery.creating "virtual" pandora and magic memory stick using PSP Tool - is it safe? and also Im unclear on the reversal action to transform the "virtual" Pandora back to normal - any thaughts? I might be wrong but can this action to create "virtual" Pandora on PSP-2006 works? using Feb2008 PSP, I might suspect the motherboard does not allow the action to make "virtual" Pandora? -cheers- 1) Backup your battery's EEPROM before converting it into a Pandora's Battery. Once you're done using the Pandora's Battery, just flash the EEPROM file back again to your battery, and it would then work as a normal battery. 2) Convert your battery into a Pandora's Battery. Once done with it's usage, boot back into the installer, and create a generic EEPROM file for the battery. It would work fine as well. 3) Not really a reverting method, but get an extra battery for the conversion purpose. If you do not wish to go along with the 3rd option, and if you want to convert your only battery into a Pandora's Battery, i'd suggest the 2nd method as the first method causes a lot of battery related problems upon reversion. Problems like flashing battery icon, wrong battery life displayed, switches off frequently etc may occur if you flash your original EEPROM file back. It doesn't ALWAYS happen, but it does, so yea. The 2nd step can also cause the above problems, but it's much better if you ask me. And if your motherboard doesn't allow Pandora conversion, you can always hardmod one. This involves you splitting open the battery cover, and cutting off a pin in it. It works, but if you have no knowledge on hardmodding, it wouldn't be too wise as there are chances of injuring yourself. Also, once you cut the pin off, you cannot get it back as a normal battery unless you know your stuff. I don't really recommend this method, but it works, so yea If you fail to get any of the above to work, you would then have to just buy a Pandora's Battery, or pay someone (Lacus etc) to make you one. Datel's tool works as well |
