Sob sob...
Oh my tp2.... i love you.

I got it as a wedding gift by the way...

By the way, guys, if you like to use spb diary (superb organizer), on the tp2, you can use touchflo detach so it can switch from touchflo interface to normal windows interface....

My TP2 is now on Energy Rom Titanium ( aka WM 6.5 unofficial ) ( can download from forum.xda-developer.com) . My unit I found has better response. Once you are on unofficial rom, no more warranty. So better restore back to stock rom before sent in - software provided too to do this under the hard SPL section. I have tried all the avaible WM6.5 options available over the last 3 days, and I would say the Enery rom is the best and stable with little bugs - go for the standard version if you want Touch Flo and not the TF 2.5 or 2.6 as still beta stage

Added on August 25, 2009, 9:59 pmI have also upgraded my TP2 radio 3.46.25.30 to the latest version - highly recommended as the GPS signals pickup very much better, BUt you need to do hard SPL first before you can install the new radio

The start button will launch the WM 6.5 staggered program listing. Yes the weather image is always moving = is very nice especially when it is in raining/thunderstorm mode there is additional image of a "car wiper" swishing across the screen

just wanna add 1 more thing.. TP2 is better over TP1 on smoothness and speedy scrolling i.e manila, sms, email scrolling.. so i would recommend u guyz to try Opera 9.7b1 which launched few months ago.. dont use the Turbo Mode coz it wont support cookies.. i've abandoned my old opera 9.5 regardless what builds they are.. 9.7 is perfect to me biggrin.gif

Bluemoon, open the Windows Live (the logo where window with white background, not the Messenger) in ur TP2. Do not sign in. After u open Windows Live, go to Menu -> Options -> 2 Sync Options. Untick "Store Windows Live contacts in your mobile phone's contact list". Hope this help...

Shahie, does the pouch have belt clips? How much? Convenience wise i like the detachable type but it always breaks or easily lost. Fixed belt clip is second best.

Hi,

Any of you all using Blackberry connect on your TP2 ?

Regards
*
I have tried Blackberry Connect ver 4.0.0.106 ( tips from forum XDA ) but fail as mine is on BIS not BES. After you install and change the unit ID ( to treat it as a Raphael aka htc Touch model) , the Blackberry server respond back the PIN number is invalid. It might be possible if you are on BES

Actually the decision is simple. Ask yourself what are your NEEDS not your WANTS in your PDA. If you are looking at browsing/video/audio - iPhone is your best choice. If you need a serious PDA as a business tool - the TP2 is a better choice. I have used a iphone ( out of curiosity ) but sold it off at loss aftedr 2 weeks as did not meet my needs.

Example my neeed : is important the PDA can sync with my Windows notebook and my Macbook Pro : I carried same PIM database in both O/S. The windows PDA ( in this case TP2) serves both O/S very well. I can update my data in either my TP2 or my Macbook or Windows notebook and need not worry about data different in any of this units. The iphone can only sync with the Mac and for sync with Windows PIM. I need to go thro a more complicate and tedious process

SMS capabilities is poor is poor in iPhone - has however improved in ver 3 finally

I do not like the virtual keyboard in iPhone ; always making mistakes - so I prefer the Windows virtual keyboard ( just use finger tip or any pointed object to poke) and furthermore TP2 has keyboard

Lastly over the past 10 years , I have accumulated a collection of Windows software ( more than half are originals which I purchased) and have been addictedc to using it. I find the equivalent iPhone software does not \meet my needs again.

So you see I make decision based on my NEEDS ; I would wish /or WANT a iphone as is very geeky and fashionable but reality sucks in . My NEEDS is more important

Anyway as a consolation, I do have a iPOD Touch which is exactly similar to iPhone except no phone functions. I use the ipod mainly for listening to audio books when I am travelling and sometimes watch movies while on flight

The SIS original set at RM 3099 comes with the Sharp photoprinter which is packaged together. So is not worth the price if you do not need the printer. I have purchased a AP set for considerably less. Actually AP sets same as original only difference is different importer and many people are doubtful about service support. For this I suggest if you get AP get it from a proper PDA shop NOT from those temporary setup kiosks which you see a lot ( unless is a branch of the official shop). So far my AP sets purchases for my various PDA I have been getting good support and any services usually done within a week

Hmm... SGD888 with 2yrs contract? That's a bit pricey. I got mine at SGD698 with 2yrs contract though.
A non-tied contract unit is selling at SGD1018 in Singapore.

The plan I took was $94.16/month.
I am saying $888 is expensive is because I compare the price with a non-tied contract set which is about $1018. One would better take the non-tied contract set because the diff is only $130.

Hey, try to do a hard reset on your phone and re-install the garmin? If it's still not working, why not bring back the set to HTC for warranty?

yo guys,

My friend has been telling me that a HP seller has quoted her a price of 2.58 k for HTC touch pro 2 with 15 months warranty and insisted its an original set. In fact telling her HTC does not have AP set ( yeah right, i immediately told her its an AP set cause the price is ridiculously lower than the market price and 15 months warranty? SIS sets comes with 1 year warranty am i right? )

But she just doesnt get it so i am planning to go down to the place and check out the set. I got not much experience with AP phones, can anyone point out what should i be looking for? and if its an AP set, what kind of sticker should i look for?

thanks in advance. hope you guys can help me out smile.gif

Most probably is AP set based on price and 15 months warranty. The present retail price from SIS is RM3099 inclusive of printer and standard 12 months warranty. YOu will know wherther is SIS by looking for SIS stickets fixed outside box and also inside unit where sim card is placed. In Msia most common AP dealer is Mobilesquare or PDAGadgets who I know offer 15 month warranty. But now AP sets only selling about 2300 to 2400 only ; easily check these at lelong.com

Of course better to have screen protector. Check your boz, there is a screen protector provided - but quality average . Temporary use it first till you find a better quality

You mentioned you upgraded your O/S from htc ??? If you have done that all your added 3rd party software is deleted. Garmin is 3rd party and does not come builtin . Most probably your seller added in to you as a "gift". So to get it working, you need reinstall it

For flashing - check out these at http://forum.xda-developers.com RHODIUM section. Please follow instructions carefully or you end up with a expensive paperweight. Flashing is for those who wants the faster or latest firmware. Example my unit is now on Windows Mobile 6.5 Manila 2.1 - these are not official released by Microsoft yet and will appear in the new PDAs scheduled released this mid Oct. Anyway TP2 users will get a free upgrade. However if you have hflashed your unit to the umofficial one, you will need to reflash it back first to remove the HardSPL IDs ( learn aall these from XDA )

Alarm issue - RARE ; why don't you check your alarm files - maybe is not there as probably again the file you have chosen is a added file not builtin by htc. Just go to Systems/Sounds and Notifications to check and select a new alert file

Alarm issue - RARE ; why don't you check your alarm files - maybe is not there as probably again the file you have chosen is a added file not builtin by htc. Just go to Systems/Sounds and Notifications to check and select a new alert file
*
1) upgraded to the latest rom on htc website
- the garmin will jam up the time when i started to use and after the upgraded the new rom and reinstall the garmin it still the same, no problem on mapking

2) flashing checking now... what do you means by expensive paperweight?

3) the alarm, what do you means by check the file? means how? or any others software that give a better alarm?

1. How did you install your Garmin ?? Are you using a original or "ahem" version???
Anyway during installation there are 3 steps to install namely : garmin XT program, BaseMap and Voice Support File. On your SD card in the Garmin folder there are 2 important ID files : gmapsupp.unl ( Map ID) and sw.unl ( your Card ID) . These 2 IDs will authorized your map and program on card as LEGAL and not some cracked version. Perhaps there is a problem with these ID files . If you are using those "crack or ahem" version , sorry I cannot guide you how to rectify in this forum as is against forum rules

2. Means - your unit is DEAD cannot be used anymore except use as paperweight loh !! Only solution then send in to SIS to rectify pay them about RM 350 to do or maybe send to others ( example me ) who can help to resuscitate it to life

3. For alarms - Go to SETTINGS/SYSTEM/Clock & Alarms/Alarms - tap the "bell" logo and choose your sound file. You will see a dropdown list of all the sound files you can use. As a standard , "wav" format files used as alarms. If you have any other sound file in wav format and you want to use as alarm, just copy it into the unit WINDOWS folder. Google and you will find there are actually quite a number of Alarm freeware or Shareware where you can even use other file format eg MP3 files, setting various type of alarms for different ocassions, setting multiple alarms etc - the variety available too many to mention. For me I simple guy, I just use the builtin alarm function which is good enough for me

RM3099 is INCLUSIVE of photoprinter. So decide based on this - the site had mentioned limited stocks only

For new users , I suggest you start with Mapking 2007. It is easier to setup/install than Garmin ( which require a 3 step process) . You can find good guides on both at http://malsingmaps.com or www.mapking.com.sg. ( Maps are free downloads )

Personally I prefer Mapking 2007 than Garmin - this is a neverend debate as some others prefer Garmin. Test both and see which suite you better

I think he is using cooked ROM, if i not mistaken.

Btw, the official WM6.5 ROM hasn't been released in official website yet.

The only news that I heard is, official WM6.5 ROM for Touch Diamond 2 is available in HTC Dutch website smile.gif

Yes I am using "cooked" rom all courtesy of forum.xda-developers.com. The official Windows 6.5 will be available for new PDAs releasing around mid Oct. I has been following the developments and so far the most updated review of actual WM 6.5 today is updated at www.pocketnow.com

But compared the current cooked roms - the official version is still lacking many features vs the "cooked" ones

My TP2 is now on AtomAng FUsion V5 manila 2.1 while my htc HD is on EnergyGenesis rom Manila 2.1 released 22sep09

For newbies who want to try these roms, stronly advised you not to try the Manila 2.5 versions as till now still many bugs

The Manila 2.1 versions are pretty stable

El.Primero : the WM 6.5 official versions is FREE for htc TP2 - juz got to wait announcement from HTC. Normally the upgrade is very easy and straightforward - just connect your PDA to your PC and run the exe file. Usually takes about 10 minutes to upgrade BUT you will lose all your data ( so backup important personal data) before upgrading. As for me I will stick to the cooked versions as the official version is still "lame" compared to the cooked versions

There seems to be no plan for HTC to release any keyboard units , at least not for the next 6-9 months !!!! So you'll not see any price drop that's for sure ( insider info from HTC Spore friend)

the HD2 is a big upgrade to htc HD ( non keyboard ) with 1 GHz processor, 488MB Ram and a massive 4.3" screen. It will be launch around mid Oct so probably Nov , Dec will be in Msia hopefully. Most belive This was the reason the present htc HD price reduce by nearly RM900 2 weeks ago. As HTC has so far never shown/or indicate any replacement models for the TP2 yet, so no price drop expected

Example on Windows Mobile 6.5 Manila 2.1 : just tab the Programs tab ( the 4 minisquare logo) and you can allocate up to 30 commonly used programs; screenshot of mine shows the first screen of 16 programs

I do not know why you would like that changed ( maybe we have different taste )

I find that it is very convenient just to choose the tab - is just a one step process tio select the program I need

If I select the start button - I will have the htc manila program selection ( see screenshot below): I find this is more versatile - I choose the tab and I get to access the 30 commonly used programs. I select start button - I get to see all the folders . I have organized my programs and put it in the various folders. The "plain" look folders is created and is not part of the rom

I downloaded the Europe version lastnight and it runs very well . Compared to my earlier cooked rom Fusion V5.1 , the official rom is more stable and everything works fine especially areas in video calling, GPRS data download ( obviously very much faster than WM6.1), browsing etc. The My Location functions much better and consistent than the cooked rom.

My only complaint is that officially HTC ( or Microsoft ) do not design folders for you in the start menu to organize the programs. You need to scroll down a long list , is not so user friendly. Anyway is small issue, I just create few folders ( if you need graphics with it, just google from forum XDA ) and shift the various programs over. Now is more organized

The rom comes with htc latest radio ver 4.49.25.17 and ROM version is 1.86.4010 (67102) WWE. As it meant for Europe , if yours is a Asian unit you can install only after you perform a HSPL. Anyway restoring back to stock rom is a breeze with the restore program provided by the HSPL guys at forum xda. Download the EXE file about 181 MB ( took me 45 mins) from www.htcpedia.com.The whole install process is very fast - connect your TP2 thro activesync, run the exe file and whole process takes about 10 mins only and now you have a spanking new O/S Windows Mobile 6.5

Now with this official release, I am waiting for the Rom cooks to make a better version of it in the weeks to come

I seldom do video calls but the time I do it was OK ; infact I never even notice whether there is any greensiish background. Anyway don't expect top quality images for video. The most obvious difference between WM6.5 ( even cooked roms included ) vs WM 6.1 is the performance. Especially if you use data download a lot ( browsing, update programs - eg Tweeter, Spb Traveller, RSS, email download etc, browsing ) you will see the major difference in WM6.5. Only thing I don't like in WM6.5 is the manila based sms - so I always go back use the non-manila version

By the way I have a used set one month old for sale ( selling for friend) : see http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1195512 . UNBELIEVABLE NEW like day one from shop

bro,now official is released.I'm using the Europe very fine. Here's some tips and advise for all TP2 users eh?

My touch pro 2 is running WinMo 6.5.Official Europe. All you need to do is one thing.Flash with Hard-SPL then install. Here's some link to share with you guys. But you guys need to register to HtcPedia. It's free to register. Here are some steps to get the best.

1.Backup all important stuffs with Sprite Backup or anything.

2.Remove your microSD.(Just in case)

3.Hard-SPL using the correct version of http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment...14&d=1254156455

4.Download the WinMo 6.5 Europe.Don't download anything else than Europe! http://htcpedia.com/forum/showthread.php?p=19249#post19249

5.Install the WinMo 6.5 .Wait for a few min and then you'll get your best results.

6.Congrats if success.Now you're a part of the WinMo 6.5 family

mine locks gps signal max in 1min ... normally 30sec only.. quite satisfy with it.. my neighbor who uses N85 has to wait 3min to get gps locked.. biggrin.gif

just update your QuickGPS and use the hotfix from HTC official website

to answer your question, use Com:4 for the internal GPS

My TP2 GPS detect signals very fast ; is much better than my htc HD - usually 15-20 seconds ; I noted the gps loclup signals is faster in Mapking 2007 vs Garmin XT. I did not need to use the hotfix file as it has been performing very well to my satisfaction. Those having problems should send in unit to check - could be hardware issue and if still under warranty, the motherboard will be replace FOC. I have a friend similar issue and fedup with getting the GPS to work smoothly, send it in and mboard replace FOC and now he is very happy with no more GPS issues

This is vague query. What programs did you installed just before you have this TouchFlo issue ?? First check whether TFlo is enabled - go to Settings/Today/Items - make sure it is selected. Such issue normally caused by installation of incompatible programs which deactivate the TFlo

Please write (Customer Service - Support via e-Mail) to HTC to complain.

The ROM is for SEA. 1.86.707.4.

If you don't complain, they will think they have good service for such an expensive phones.

Downloaded last night and already a day , rom is running smooth. No major issues - the My Location detection seems better than my previous cooked roms Enery Photon and AtomAng Fusion V6. SMS lagging - not noticeable if any
The rom version is : 1.86.707.4 ( 67102) WWE and radio is 4.49.25.17
Suprsing the download was pretty fast , took me only 25 mins for the 171MB file

Your sms will lag if u actually tweaked and disabled TF3D's sms system and used the windows mobile system instead. i dunno why, i'm still experimenting to figure it out.

messaging looks ok to me...
the clock feels more like HTC sense..
the only thing that I expect to be there but is not there is the shortcut at the front screen just like HTC HD2...

Can anyone suggest how to get that shortcut? any freeware that I can use?

Other than that, the lock interface is great!

hi, may i bump in.. Just flashed the latest official rom to winmo 6.5. Eye candy perhaps, but i think it slowed down my phone compared while it was in 6.1. Tab swipe is not as smooth as before with some lag. No tweeter or footprint tab though. Maybe i'll install mem maid and see if things improve. Any suggestions on how to speed up the 6.5 windows?

Footprint tab, tweeter are for HTC Sense (Manila 2.5) which available for cook ROMs.. to speed up, try install gfxboost (see post #2) or/and install Speedbooster

Thanks for the suggestion bro ( demo oghe klate ko?) . I used Mem Maid preset for extreme speed and now speed definitely boosted! Except when using the default background where the weather is animated..meant for HD2 i guess ( tempting to trade in for it !) Hopefully official Manila 2.5 will be released soon, not that adventurous to try the cooked ones..

Yes this is the biggest problem with the official HTC Asia release. Before installing any 3rdparty programs, it shows memory usage up to 70 - 75% already. This is definately unacceptable. As for the cooked roms ( popular ones being AtomAng Fusion v6 and Energy Photon ( the meory is better starting at average 60 % but the memory "leakage" quickly build up to 80 t0 85 %. So when you are using the browser after load several websites continoulsy ( even closing the earlier pages ) the memory will run out.

I manage to find a better cooked rom TPC ver 3.2 ( Manila 2.1 ) - before installing any 3rd party the meory shows only averages 50 % > This rom has even include in a lot of 3rd party programs. Has been testing it 3 days already and is pretty smooth sailing. I can now browse up to 15 sites anytime continously with Twikini updates in background and memory is hovering about 80 % - excellent

For ROM freaks why don't you try it out download from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=576361

If your unit is a original UNTOUCHED unit - you need to perform a hardSPL process first ( conspt similar to jailbreak ) : read all about it at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=550540 . It is not complicate process but take care follow instructions carefully

Once you have SPL your unit - you can then install unlimited rom types until you get fedup with flashing. The developer has also provided a very easy exe file to restore your unit back to original status ( in case you need it for warranty purposes ) . Is a very simple one step procedure

I upgraded to the official HTC rom on the first day its available. Everything was fine and I liked the coloured tabs and the new Start menu.

The last 2 days it's been a bit buggy. Other than the fact that the memory is always quite full (with no apps running), it's a little slow. It's been quite buggy too. I turn on the phone (from standby) and the top header will be there but the rest of the screen will be black and won't load for about 20 seconds. I tried tapping the "task" button and sometimes the bottom tabs will load.

When I drag the bottom tabs and press other buttons, it will lag summore and messaging (SMS) seems to lag more. I've accidentally sent out blank SMS a couple of times.

anyone with the same problem?

PS> I don't really want to try cooked roms. I've had to send past HTC phones back for servicing a few times in the past (changed motherboards before) and didn't want to void the warranty in case I have to do this with the current phone.

sounds like a memory leak, which u honestly cant really do much about with a ori rom. its buggy. period.

if warranty is an issue, u can always flash back your original rom and spl and send back for warranty. the warranty void issue is only temporary. the messaging lag especially, is much reduced in cooked rom and in some cases, fixed.

Memory high utilization - This is the biggest issue with the htc official 6.5 release . I was on it only 2 days , then revert back to cooked rom. For the last 1 week or so, most cooked roms, memory had tweaked very well to average 50 to 60% ( before install other programs). Furthermore most cooked roms comes preinstalled with additional programs. Unlike other htc pdas, the XDA cooks had develop a very simple ONE step process to restore your rom to original stock - so is not a big issue here

Thank you everyone for the tips on flashing a cooked rom. I am going to give it a try today. Any specific cooked rom I should try? I found the guides on XDA developers. Looks like the Energy ROM is good?

Just flashed to Energy ROM. Not bad, but a little different from what I'm used to.

Playing with it a little but my hands still itching for a new phone. I am contemplating on a HD2 or Hero (selling out to get an Android).

Anyone have any other suggestions on how I can improve my TP2 now? Games, applications, etc?

Added on November 23, 2009, 2:49 amAnother question. If I want to flash back to the original ROM for warranty purposes, do I just do a HardSPL and install back the original ROM?

To flash back to stock rom , just connect your PDA to PC , activesync to connect and just run the RhodiumSPLRelocker.exe program ( download it if you haven't ) ; is very easy restore takes only 5 minutes. I'd say restoring stock rom in this TP2 is the easiest I have ever seen compare with all the other HTC phones

What rom are you on ??

On Manila - go to Settings /All Settings/Location/ makesure the first box Location Service Settings is TICKED and below it HTC location service is also TICK. Leave the third selection below UNTICK

If you are on cooked rom, check the relevant forum and see whether other users has such problem ; sometimes is rom issue.

To confirm it is not hardware issue:

1. Open Google Map : Under options select use GPS - see whether the GPS can locate satellites - if unable possibly GPS chip problem

2. flash back to stock rom ( if you are on cooked rom ) and test again. If on stock rom still fail, possibly your GPS chip "is fried" and you need change motherboard. I have a friend same issue : only 1 month old unit on original rom - as unit under warranty, mboard was replaced FOC

Manila Sense 2.5 is NOT available on official HTC roms. This version was develop for the HD2 ( Leo ) and is NOT suitable for the TP2. It is only available in cooked roms - it is laggy because mainly it is more suitable for higher processor ; the bugs are because it is being "cooked" from the the HD2 roms. If you want a stable cooked rom, jusrt stay away from the Manila 2.5

There is NO best rom ; if you posed this question at forum.XDA your post could be deleted. If you were to review all the postings in the cooked roms, you will notice one common trend : there are praises and same time criticisms.

It actually all depend on what you want in the rom. Some guys wants a rom brimful with utilities while some want a leaner/thin rom with most Windows builtin programs removed. I prefer a leaner rom cos I find many Windows utilities are not necessary or I never use.

I'd not recommend one to try the Manila 2.5 versions as it is still in developmental stage. This is based on the HD2/Leo. However since the HD2 was released , the last 10 days has seen more improved versions of it from the various cooks.

The most stable rom is still based on Manila 2.1 ; I have tried most of it and I also cannot tell you which is the best

If you are a rom flash freak - popular ones are Energy, Cell Pro, TPC, Miri, Fusion - who are more aggressive in updating their roms. Of these I find Fusion the most satisfying ( read is NOT the best ) and meeting my needs follow by Energy, TPC, Cell Pro and Miri

My LEAN rom choices are Cell Pro and ER2 ; presently my TP2 is on Cell Pro Lite ver 2

So to find your "best" just download and flash thde various ones available. Spend some time reading the postings and assess which one might be suitable for your needs

Muahaha, Benny888. You're in the same position as me. I got the HD2 out of super sheer excitement and drooling over the HD2 and got rid of my TP2 as well. Unlike you, I was feeling charitable and gave it to my brother. How I wish I could make some recovery on the HD2 investment. Good luck in your sale!

Actually this was my 2nd unit . My first unit I bought in KL - but I traded in for this T-Mobile. Because :

1. Build quality is much better - it feels very solid ; I suppose quality requirements for Taiwan products to Europe is higher
2. The color scheme Gold Bronze/Brown was so beautiful
3. The volume switch is separated into 2 pieces : up and down - easier to press
3. Reset hole is located outside at the side
4. The micro SD card is located at the side and can be remove opening a small flap ; so for both reset and this one no need to take off back casing
5. Overall size looks smaller/slimmer due to design of the edges round the unit

Well I do recieve several enquiries and I letting go cheap just to recover some money loh!

##########################################################
2 Dec UPDATE: For thos who have enquired - unit already sold. TQ for the interest

does your pouch have a strong magnet. TP2's keyboard slider is magnet base, so when u pull out your pda wakes up and goes into landscape as if u slide out keyboard, then back to portrait as it recalibrates.

I faced this problem for both TP2 and Xperia, yup, its mainly when i use leather pouch with magnet, it interferes with the magnet at the keyboard base (bottom left at the back, u can try swiping with any magnet over it and the phone will turn on by itself) . It really pisses me off coz sometimes some movement inside the pouch also cause the phone to turn on, wasting battery.

Went to Low yatt looking for any other non magnetic pouch to protect my phone, and couldnt find any! I searched all the floors and the only option is either Golla pouch with girly design or stick with magnetic pouch. Only in Sunway Pyramid at last that i managed to find non magnetic leather pouch by Capdase with clip on using button ( shop located beside Pda Expert), problem solved!

Main purpose is to save battery and is default . If you'd like to enable wifi always on use the Rhodium Settings Tool I mentioned earlier NOT the Advanced Config Tool ( this will not work on the Rhodium)

Yes I think it'll drop further but not so soon . These prices were quoted to me at LowYat shops yesterday ( I ask just out of curiosity).

You cannot compare the TP2 with HD2. Both are different - HD2 is without keyboard and capacitative screen while TP2 is with keyboard and resistive screen. Those who do a lot of typing will HATE the HD2 but they will love the TP2 ; infact I'd say the TP2 is the BEST windows mobile pdaphone with keyboard I had ever used. No other pda can match its keyboard including non WM eg the recent Nokia N97, Nokia E71. Close to keyboard performance will be the Blackberry Bold. Until HTC released a keyboard successor, I seriously doubt price will drop fast

SIS is the main authorised reseller/distributor of HTC ; infact SIS is the bigger boy here. People are more comfortable buying from SIS because of warranty issues as SIS has own service centre and if you need to send in your phone for warranty - it's supposedly less hassle free and quick servive as they have parts/technicians to attend to it

AP sets are sets imported in by other companies and their phones distributed through many phone dealers. If your set has warranty issues, most of these company will direct your sets back to either HTC ( KL ) or SIS for service/repair; so you'd expect slower service support here.

So you just got to figure out whether you want to save few hundred ringgit buying AP ??

So far my experienced with AP sets very good - only 1 case, I return for warranty and got it back 2 weeks later. However my experience with SIS not so good, for last 2 years I return 3 units for warranty claims but service was good and I got my sets back within 3-5 days.

My advise if you want to buy AP - buy it from the bigger shops and make sure is a sealed box and open infront of you. There are quite a few unscrupulous smaller shops that will change some of the items - chargers, cable, batteries to generic quality to unsuspecting customers

Best source freeware and paid programs : www.pocketgear.com - I download practically all the freeware and purchased software from this site - is very reliable ( purchasing is a breeze - you download and you get acknowledgment and serial codes within few minutes ). Another site is www. handango.com

If you are asking for "ahem" sources of cracked/pirateware - sorry not allowed to ask and discuss in the forms

Good price - does it come with 8 GB micro SD card . Is the supplied firmware WM 6.1 or WM 6.5

If it is at WM 6.1 - upgrade - it is FOC at htc.com the official WM 6.5 version

If you are now on WM 6.5 highly recommend you flash to one of the cooked roms ; the default WM 6.5 and 6.1 rom , very poor memory management. You'll notice if you multitask and browse few sites same time, the memory utilizations goes up very fast up tyo 80-90 % , meaning you need to clean ram or soft reset often
Of all my WM PDA phones I ahve ever used, this TP2 is the easiest to flash new roms and restore back to stock rom

Aargh, my bill this month shot up to rm400 due to background data download. I don't know with you guys but the official 6.5 rom sucks, memory utilization so high ( can't even open 2 tabs in opera!), wifi suddenly stops and activate data.. why can't the HTC guys upload a good stock ROM? Missed winmo 6.1..
Just HardSPL succesfully and downloading cell lite pro v5, getting rid of the stock rom and flashing for the first time. Here goes nothing..thanks for the tips in thread guys especially benny & PCboy.

My post at HTC HD section : http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1018550/+1140

It explains why the need to flash cooked roms

You can download and test a large variety of coooked roms ( modified roms from original using official manila builds or unofficial builds not released to market yet from microsoft ) at forum.xda-developers.com RHODIUM section

CDMA phones do not use SIM card as the telco settings is "burn" into the phone firmware. For such phones you can change number within the telco but not change telco.

Coreplayer is very good ; I find it plays all my avi movie very well ; I have no complains

If you are still on the original rom, is normal that memory utlisation will goes up very fast - that is why we used cooked roms which can give us an extra 10 to 20 % extra free memory. Use clean ram to clear your memory or soft reset if you notice memory has built up. It does not means that when you closed a program, all the memory used is released

Garmin pickup 5 minutes is indeed very long ; mine pickup within less than a minute ; usually about 10-15 sec. Never had experienced in car problems as you said ; infact once the GPS signal is pickup even if I leavr the phone on the middle console between the seats the Garmin ( including Mapking too ) can still monitor my travels.

By the way I never install the hotfix as my GPS was working very well ; why fix if isn't broke ?

I experienced some problem ( but not in car ) yoiu mentioned iabout GPS pickup poor intermittently in my last HD in the second month of use ( AP set ) and the motherboard was replace free of charge as I was told GPS chip embedded cannot be repaired.

When you setup any calender entry eg DEC 25 Friday : there is a option :

All day : yes or NO
Occurs: Once OR Every Friday OR Day of every month or every Dec 25 : if you choose every Dec 25 it will appear every year on Dec 25

You even have option to "EDIT PATTERN" - daily, weekly, monthly, yearly

First you have to identify which software is auto updating/downloading data - just disable such features when you do not need it. Example - the weather updates in homescreen, programs like RSS , Tweeter feeds, Traveller utilities, weather utilities, currency programs etc.

Or you can try install Modaco NODATA : http://www.modaco.com/content/pocket-pc-so...utility-nodata/

I have never try it ( cos I am on unlimited data line) but most say is OK

Don't forget install MyMobiler (freeware) for such a good phone. You will love it especially if you hook it up with ActiveSync via bluetooth.

It is unlikely you lost the calender - probably you accidentaly deleted the shortcut. Go to Windows/Start Menu/Programs : locate the Calender shortcut - there are 2: For each - right click Properties - untick HIDDEN.

Actually I don't think anyone can tell you which is the best data plan based on speed . It all depends on your location and the places you usually goes. What you can do is to get a prepaid of other telcos and test it out and then assess which telco gives you better coverage and faster data download.

Based on my personal experience - I find DIGI the best ( even though 3G coverage limited ; many times I even find their EDGE is faster downloading web sites versus Celcom 3G ). I use Celcom 3G unlimited mainly because I find their coverage is very good when I travel overseas and their roaming charges is reasonable ; also it was a carryover account on my Blackberry which will only expire on End Nov 2010. Maxis coverage I find dissapointing - so I gave it up and switch to Celcom 2 years ago till now

Hooked on rom flashing since experimented, still can't find the best though. Recommended chefs based on flashes ( personal opinion only) :
- Miri ( The fastest 2.5 manila rom though still buggy but acceptable - my current rom)
- Energy ( Most stable and fast manila 2.1)
- Ark_N ( Latest 2.5 manila but buggy dialer)
- Cell pro ( Stable and fast manila 2.1 with lots of bundled apps, icons not to my liking though)

I already try to upload it here but it wont go through. Well at least you can try to google it.. biggrin.gif

Woohoo... at last an official sense 2.5 for rhodium! Just flashed, looks good... slick official rom. Installation file is big, free storage 195.79MB, free program 64.11MB post flash..sucks..haven't installed anything yet other than bundled goods, which is not much. Free ram only 42.85MB on idle..bad..

Ditch the latest official rom, too much rom leak. Device lags most of the times, multitasking is a pain.. had to soft reset so many time. Even messaging tax the rom. I don't know what are these guys at HTC using to test this rom with. Can't they provide an official rom which is perfect? Do they think people wont want fast and smooth rom is it? Sigh...frustrating..
Flashing to Energy's latest rom with Cookie's 48 home quick link ( http://thewingster.com/energyromwarhawkmanila25.aspx) . Will comment later.

Just my 5 cent, after using TP2 for nearly a year, and if you plan on a lot of multitasking like i do, get HD2 if you can afford without a great physical keyboard. I flashed so many roms to get the best and fastest including official ones, but in conclusion..the hardware not fast enough.
Sense 2.5 is the best rom to have, beats iphone interface hands down, unfortunately, TP2's hardware can't handle it well enough for a smooth use, it will hang, lag and consumes memory like a biggest loser, loser.. sigh... gonna trade it soon for a HD2...unless they come up with HD2 PRO or equivalent hardware for touch pro series! drool.gif

Guys, I'm looking for a case (not pouch) for TP2 to protect the chrome and rear cover... So what brand and model do you guys suggest please?

I'm sorry to ask such question here but it seems difficult to find a suitable case for TP2.

thank you.

I use capdase brand. I dont consider it a pouch, flip case with belt clip, useful during work. The main thing is to avoid magnetic clip. This one is also nice,( http://www.daydeal.com/home.php?cat=4537) i used it for after work but was a bit rough and after few months the clip broke, good protection though.

Yes, this is indeed what I'm looking for (the latter one)! rclxms.gif

So, bro, how do you manage to get this stuff in Malaysia? Do they ship to Malaysia?

And when you mean "it was a bit ROUGH", which one are you implying? The rubberized case or non-rubberized?

Oh ya, I was wondering will this magnetic issue affects the TP2 performance, probably say the speaker or the mic of TP2?

Guys, I'm looking for a case (not pouch) for TP2 to protect the chrome and rear cover... So what brand and model do you guys suggest please?

I'm sorry to ask such question here but it seems difficult to find a suitable case for TP2.

thank you.

Worried that it might affect my TP2 call quality as it is one of the main reason why I get TP2.

thanks for your feedback!

Late reply, just came down mount kinabalu, aching legs, cannot reach my laptop smile.gif
I got the clip shield from ebay, shipped from hongkong, arrived in 2 weeks time sent via Abx around RM30 inclusive of delivery if i'm not mistaken.
Rough meaning i removed it daily to swap for belt clip on during work and back for the rubberized clip shield after work, later the latch snap off as it was secured snugly and frequent removal, fastening will worn it out, unable to clip on again. Otherwise, it did it job well and looked good as well.
Magnetic clip will interfere with the keyboard. Any movement of the magnetic clip g when the phone is off will turn it on automatically and would wreck havoc with the screen, it will suddenly turn landscape to potrait and vice versa. Sometimes the phone may become a bit sluggish with the magnetic clips. I searched whole of low yatt for non magnetic case with belt clip on for TP2 but was non existant, found it only at sunway pyramid with non magnetic button which worked the best
Speaker or mic was not affected though. Call quality was always good with TP2. Speaker though might improve with a little Audiopara tweak to get the most of it..
All the best bro. thumbup.gif

Hi guys,
Just want to confirm with you all... total ram of TP2 is 288MB. The reserved RAM for GSM stack and phone real time OS is 96MB, so the available RAM to WinMo is 192MB. What is the total free ram after a cold/warm boot? I mean with TouchFLO enabled. Hope TP2 owner can show me.. Thanks smile.gif

you can try searching xda-developers.com.

Still using stock rom and not intend to flash my TP2 yet, so long time didn't follow up the cooked roms info.

By the way, guys, if you like to use spb diary (superb organizer), on  the tp2, you can use touchflo detach so it can switch from touchflo interface to  normal windows interface....

Remaining 12 months warranty, capdase, and 4gb card all for free. If interested do pm me or sms me at 0123602048.

Reason for selling, too bulky for me and my trousers getting down often with the clip. wink.gif

hi there, I'm personally quite like it as it has top tier qwerty keyboard in this world currently.

But, if you do not life Diamond 2, then chances are you probably won't like this either.

And please do not compare it with Iphone, these are two different phone with completely different OS.
For your information, Iphone does lag as hell too.

For the unresponsiveness issue, you may solve this problem by flashing your ROM. Cos usually Stock ROM tends to eat up much higher RAM hence causing it to be unresponsive (lags). Other than that, it is limited to the hardware problem already so can't do much about it.

Maybe you can consider HD2 (if you want Window Mobile OS that is) cos its specs is almost double the TP2 or TD2's specs.

Otherwise, you can just consider Iphone which has much simple interface.

anybody got a gps problem?Normally QuickGPS wouldn't help. Here is my tip to get a good and clear gps reading.

1.Go on google maps.Set the settings use GPS.and if don't want waste credit/airtime on HSDPA downloading maps data,I suggest go on WiFi.Then wait for 5 min till got 3 or 5 satellite reading.

2.Go on garmin GPS or any maps of your choice.

3.your gps indicator will take about 3 min to get the pure and perfect reading. So keep calm and you'll get what you want.

4. Congratulations, you finally got the perfect signal. Now turn off google maps and wifi and set back to normal phone status.

If those whose using postpaid and doesn't worry about the charges then proceed with the normal procedure only with Phone data. smile.gif

Hi bro,

If you synchronized well in your ms outlook, once connected during activesyncing, it should replace back your contact easily, make sure the option for contact is ticked in activesync menu, both on the pc and phone.
If that doesnt work, you can delete your initial profile in activesync, then reconnect. Should work i think.

officially wise, you are correct.

Unofficially wise (XDA), only HD2 is capable...
other WinMo? Not a chance... even if they manage to do so, I assure you the performance on the phone will be your worst nightmare

Around 700 to 800 for ori model.. nothing more than 900 la, unless in pristine condition with more than a year warranty left..

resistive touch screen is a huge let down for this device. but the keyboard is the best out there. even desire z is not as good as this one in terms of keyboard

indeed! But that's the only thing that we are able to be proud of sad.gif

Still I like its design very much!

So, what ROM are you guys currently using?
I'm sticking to Energy ROM Titanium since I find SENSE to be battery and RAM hog that significantly hold down the performance...

Feel free to call or sms me at 017-9131668
