i believe N85 is with A-GPS activated.

5800 and N95 8GB does not have A-GPS activated.

there are a lot of factor which will affect the lock time:
i) are u stationary or moving? if u are moving, will be slower
ii) are u near/at the same location with wen u turn of gps? if start ur gps near where u switch it off within a short period (my case was after a meal), the re-lock is very fast.
iii) obstructions/blockages

rclxms.gif yeah N85 win ..

anyway..
1]please check whether your A-GPS is off or on..

if OFF.. yeah it will take time..
if ON.. in 15 seconds.. sure will get green signal

but mine[N85]
off a-gps - always get under than 1 minute
on a-gps - around 5 - 10 seconds

2] depends where are you..
some place maybe hard to get signal with only GPS[without A-GPS]

but the last comment.. you said that you test them both at the same time .??

so .. admit that N85 GPS receiver is the best among them

For all ur phones, pls check

SETTINGS>POSITIONING>POSITION METHODS

There will be four options
-bluetooth gps
-assisted gps
-integrated gps
-network based

compare and see if both phones have the same settings on.

I am using 5800

Am also experiencing the same slow lock time.

My solution: In Apps -> Location -> Positioning -> Positioning Methods, Enable Assisted GPS and Integrated GPS ONLY[COLOR=red].

Hope that helps. thumbup.gif

i googled it up on english sites but all i get is some guy named wildtudor/longtalker posting the same topic "unreliable gps signal" at more than 3 diff forums.

anyway, i wouldn't be suprised if the n85 is better than the n95, but 5800 sux as well? hmm.gif

if i am not mistaken, if using 1kb only also charge 10 sens...
but anyway, frequent use could result on surprised bill amount,
but normal usage wont be noticing the different...
