I've always preferred Kuzzie when it comes to selecting the 2nd keeper for United. Foster is overrated IMO. I have no idea why the gaffer keeps showering him with praises - that he's the best English keeper around and stuff. Really.

The only thing slacking with Kuzzie is his kicks. The ball go flying all over the place. Pressured or not, his kicks are inconsistent.

But then again, check out Foster's kicks during last night's game. Poor Kuzzie, always ending up on the bench when he should be first choice in VDS's absense.

I always viewed Foster as someone with the better command of his area of the two. Far more confident looking, generally good with his kicking.. just the better GK really. Kuszczak is good at shot stopping no doubt, but aside from that, he doesn't inspire confidence like Foster could. Always viewed Kuszczak as someone who is no more than a backup GK, while Foster really could be first choice for us for years after VDS. But Foster really need to do better with his chances.. but let's not judge him over just a few matches. Also need to remember he missed about two seasons worth of games through injuries. That's bound to take its toll. Jury is still out, but with a run of games now that VDS is missing for 8 weeks, he should get back into the swings of things.. or if he fails, Kuszczak will get his chance, but come next summer, we'll buy someone if Foster don't make it.

Not sure about that. He was very good in his first few months, but after that went to pieces and never recovered. That Porto game killed his chances I think. I still think it's Foster's to lose. Up to him to make that spot his own. He does have ability, good kicker(although right now look like a scared cat), good shot stopper(need to do better with high shots though.. jump higher!), seems to command hi are pretty well.. just need a run of games which he should be getting in the next few weeks hopefully.

We need to stick with one and see how it goes. No point to just buy someone and if he too makes mistakes, what then? Scrap the plan and buy someone else too? No chance we'll get Cech, Cassilas.. there's really not that many outstanding GKs. Good yes, there's plenty, but how they fit with us is the big question mark. But if we can somehow get Buffon.. that would be great. A fantasy right now, but SAF seems to trust Foster. Hope he keep his word and continue the next games with Foster in nets and see how he does.

funny thing is..shouldnt the strikers like rooney and owen be the ones who take the penalties first?before they proceed with the likes of rio, evra, cathcart, tea lady..etc..

SAF way of teaching the squad not to take the games to penalties because we are crap at them?

I don't recall Foster clashing with anyone during the match.. Soccernet used the term 'minor injury' while there's absolutely no mentioning of any detail on the type of injury he picked up on the main site..

Well VDS didn't collide with anyone in that Bayern game which went to penalties.. then out of the blue, he required surgery and is out for 8 weeks.

I wonder MU fans love him or hate him now..as in MU fans in england...coz newspaper still say he is old trafford favourite?

They even hate Peter Schmeichel a bit when he played for City. Tevez who was only here a few seasons and on top of that bad mouth the club in the end of his time here/after, surely a lot of people hate him now.

It's only the first game. Sometimes some team start real badly as shown over the years, some peak too early etc. I wouldn't look into it too much. but we know Arsenal have quality players, and they can pwned anyone on any given day. It's whether they have it to consistently challenge till the end of the season. If they can keep it safe at the back, they would do just that.

How I wish we play just now so we can get it over with. First game of the season(league). Seeing Chelsea nicked it late, and Arsenal trashing Everton really made me anxious for tomorrow's game. Last few seasons our attacking players were missing at the start of those seasons, which made us a bit dull going forward and fail to win the first game(s), but this time it's the defensive unit which is missing people. Hope we win.

QUOTE(Duke Red @ Aug 16 2009, 08:17 AM)
Maybe someone can help me here. Why is it you guys hate Tevez so much again?

I must admit I didn't follow his transfer saga too closely. All I remember is that he had wanted to leave after the end of last season because he felt he wasn't wanted by the club. He said he was frustrated at not being offered a permanent contract and he was left out of the team despite playing reasonably well. Later on, a contract was offered but by that time, he had already made up his mind to move away from Old Trafford. A month later, he moved to City. Is the frustration due to him moving to your cross town rivals or that he chose to move in general?
*
I have no problems whatsoever with him deciding to move on from us to whichever teams he chooses if he feels that is best for his career, financially /& playing wise. To Liverpool, City, Leeds.. heck, it's his life and it's not like he owes us or something. I know the rivalry between those teams and us, but Tevez need to think whats best for him, and with us he'll never be a guaranteed starter, so if he wants to leave, fine by me(others might not be so forgiving though, just because of the rivalry, but you would understand that). Very good player, but in his position we have two equally as good if not better players than him. And frankly last season, his form didn't warrant any starting guarantees.

What people hate him for is his lack of respect to SAF/club with his comments in his last few months, and during the summer. He said we lack respect because we didn't offer him a contract earlier. We didn't respect him because SAF didn't play him in every game, or in the big games(he started a lot of them in the final run in to the season), which is bullshit and who the f*** the he think he is demanding stuff like that. If he's so special, maybe he has a point, but he's just another good player at the club brimming with talented players as good and better than him. He should understand what it means to be in a squad as big as ours. If he's not happy being a squad player, fine enough, he can go because of 'wanting first team actions' reason, but don't spout bullshit he didn't get enough chances when if you look at the stats he starts as much as the other two strikers.

Okay, maybe we dragged the deal a little, but with the financial shit the world is going through right now, we might have wanted to lower the deal a bit with Kia over his transfer value, which is just fair really. As far as I know it was always going to be decided(the deal) at the end of last season going by the comments the club make throughout his time here. Tevez is just badly advised IMO, and he kicks up a fuss over it, which is just stupid on his part. He should know or rather try understand why we delay it.

Like I say, if he just decided to move on 'peacefully' nobody would hate him so much him going to a rival team. But he decided to open his mouth out and make it look like he was the victim. Thankfully people have brains and figure it out, which is why people just doesn't like him anymore, and him moving to City is just icing on the cake really..

Those watching online better be prepared for multiple links and save them somewhere. One by one they will get offline sometime during the match. Got 'online police' it seems and they browse other forums and once they get the link(s), soon enough those links will be down.

It's a concern.. a bit like Nesta who's suffering the same stuff, back injuries. He's old now, so it will be a frequent occurrence. Thank god for Evans and Vidic. Hopefully Wes will be healthy for most of the season too. And if a number of them get injured, Cathcart seems like a good prospect..

you seem to forget that manu has he highest awarded penalty rate . so yeah . penalties is 4 pu55ies.

Liverpool had 6 penalties in the league last season with 5 converted, and one missed but Gerrard scored from the rebound. ManUtd got 4 in the league last season. Or you mean all time/Premiership years?
