QUOTE(gregy @ Sep 10 2009, 06:07 PM) If for gaming only, it looks as though i5 is good enough for now. Depends also on what GC or GCs you're planning to use..... If you're the type who likes to upgrade often, then i5 for now, then when i7 860s launches the overclocking potential may improve due to lower TDP, so can upgrade then. If you buy i7 860 now, then early next year when i7 860s comes out you will bang bola But, if you don't plan to oc then you can go ahead and get the 860 now, since the 860s will come with a slightly lower default clock speed. Are you sure that intel will release a i7 860 OC version?

i wonder why the core i5 was on sale in KK in august but the official launch date for the core i5 was in 7th september 2009... some of my friends said that is was not a real(i mean original) core i5, but 'black market' version of core i5, is that true? it's original i think.. just that they sell it earlier.. breaking the agreement.. so could be no warranty then..

There's nothing wrong with that QUOTE Reason for this seems to be an error somewhere in the Intel HQ, which stated to distributors that they could sell the products, but not advertise that they had them Source: madshrimps

yes, high ddr3 frequency on P55, but the latency is too lose, not my style.
i still prefer tighter latency.

I'm now struggling whether i should buy i7 or i5, as Microsoft announced that I9 will be available in the LGA-1366 platform, which maybe a very good upgrades against any I7 current processor. Somemore the Triple Channel RAM is kinda attracting.
