Can hamsters get nightmares?
Minmin screeched in her sleep. I thought she was in pain, but she seemed fine when she woke up. Gave her some vegetables to calm her down. |

Min's fur darkened since her baby days, typical for cinnamon coloured hamsters
These pictures are a little bit dated. I wonder how are her siblings doing. Bought her from bobiac on lowyat And what are your thoughts about the new toy hamster XD Zhu Zhu Pets http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VKBzm_bd7c0 http://www.metacafe.com/watch/3786871/zhu_...y_miashe_smith/ Even hamsters can be fake now lol |

My hamster is bored. Anyone got suggestions on what i can do to enrichen her cage without risking escape?
The tank is the standard fish tank sort. |

She ignores the toilet roll, and ignores any box that i placed in as well.
She's bored because she constantly tries to escape, biting the bottle and its hole. I gave her tissue but she's not into nesting. It's basically a guppy tank with a house, a bowl, some wooden chewtoys, and a wheel. That alone makes it feel so cramped already |

Has Prestige increased their quality yet? At one time it dropped pretty badly.

The hamsters were probably too young to really notice. The male parts only become really visible about 4 weeks of age.
http://www.hamsters.co.uk/sexing_hamsters.htm Maybe this could help. |

Hey, does anyone here know how to coax a hamster to wake up earlier? My hamster is waking up later and later and later until no one could really play with her since she wakes up so late.
She'll wake up around 1.30 or 2 a.m. Mana ada mood dah? XD |

I know they're nocturnal, but hers is getting a little bit too far. She sleeps pretty much the night too.
During the day the cage is quite dark, actually. We've tried coaxing her to come out earlier (not so early, about an hour earlier like 12.30), but she'd just slip right out of our hands and hide. |

By the way, my dad asked if hamsters know if there are no humans around. We left Min alone for a few days for CNY, and she completely turned the tank upside down. A total mess XD
Good thing we glued the wheel or else it would have toppled over too. She never does this when we were home, only when we were not there. |

Oooh, your little Ichigo is a long-haired syrian. You might want to use a toothbrush to brush his long fur if it gets too messy XD
P.S I wouldn't use wood shavings for this fella either, since they tend to stick on his fur. Besides, they're not very good for him. Try Corn cob or recycled Paper. This post has been edited by Sophiera: Mar 7 2010, 09:03 PM |

@ Snoopie: What your robo needs is a sand bath. In the wild they roll in sand to get rid of extra oil

Crazymouse; is it normal for hamsters to scratch themselves by accident? My little min min had quite a nasty scratch behind her left ear. It's all dried up now, but it's very obvious.
There's nothing sharp in the cage too. She's also not in much mood to run around in the ball lately. She'll be her usual energetic self when we handle her (never, ever, ever sit still) so I don't think she's sick. Perhaps bored with the ball already lol |

If you want them to stop biting 100%, toss the metal cage into the recycling bin and get a plastic/glass fish tank.
Metal is tasty for hamsters. You should give them a wooden toy to chew too. The hamster isn't familiar with you yet. Give it some time. Do read the front page; we don't encourage owners to use typical wooden shavings because it's bad for the hamster's lung. |

Min min injured herself again! Quite a scrape above her right eye, but then the next two days it's gone again.
I'll change the cage arrangement and see how. I've tried introducing new stuff, but she mainly ignores them |

For those whose hamster had babies And encourage her to eat more things with protein, like boiled egg whites or bread soaked with soy milk. You can scramble a bit of egg once in a while. No salt. Pick some saltless ones out and then you add salt for yourself to eat. |

Hello guys, dropping in to inform a sad news..
Min Min was put to sleep on the 7th of July 2010. The vet said she had organ failure and stuff. She was really losing the fight. I accepted the fate, but my dad can't really accept that we've only had her for 1 year.... |
