Hi, I plan to open a boutique and run my business. I wanted to import wholesale clothes & shoes from China (mayb Korea, Taiwan and HK as well). But i'm not sure if my order will be barred by the custom, or being taxed & etc. Btw, I'm from duty free zone.

Besides, where can i get trustable supplier / wholesaler? I visited few wholesale websites from China but i read bad reviews bout them like shipping ripped off, bad quality and so on. Any korea websites in english? I cant read korean. Recommend me some sites with cheap price, at least OK in quality, good shipping service & good customer service pls.

Appreciate ur help~ TQ very much..

sure no problem. the idea is to share knowledge smile.gif

i bought jerseys from a UK website. total was rm1200+
tax came out to 30$. roughly rm400.

baju i believe is classified as textile or something like that.
hence the high tax rate.
it is 20%levy + 10%sales tax.

first i would like to give you some advice.

one of my friend actually run a boutique business too, he went to china and look at the samples itself, good quality and nice product, but when he made the payment and he received very bad quality product, some of the product he pay didnt even arrive, but korean japan and taiwan quite ok.

second,

the product you import definately need to pay tax, if you know someone inside you can get discount for your product, yes, some officer from tax custom can give u discount, if you bought in large quantity, the tax will be a huge amount for you.

I know clothes definitely have 20% levy tax + 10% sales tax. I have bought few times, everytime around 50 clothes shipped by EMS.

The worst experience i encounter before is, the poslaju officer actually did not bother whatever value declared on the parcel. They told me they evaluate the market selling price of the clothes and tax me based on market selling price! My wholesale price for the clothes is only Rm10-RM 15, the poslaju office told me these kind of clothes selling in the market for Rm25-Rm30, so tax me based on the Rm25-Rm30 value per piece! Blood Sucker!

Animal cloths fall into sales 10% tax.

As for accessories, beds etc... i m not really sure.

The custom do make changes if they think the price you are declaring is unreasonable... but I have never heard that poslaju have the rights to change the value of your clothes though....

i not sure anyone have such experience before.

i used to sell bags.

bags tax at 10% and due to my shipment total value below 500rm therefore the tax waived.

reason being goods under rm500 will not be taxed. this reason had stated in my duty declaration form. anyone can clarify this?
