Ibra seems lost and sluggish especially after the league resumed. I think he can improve his game by trying to beat offside traps more often. Like he did against Sevilla at home during CDR. Henry can teach him that. He is the master in beating last defenders.

i dont think ibra is that type of player that can beat off side traps, he's 2 slow for that plus laliga defenders most of them r quick 2 recover further more he seems to play more further back then he used to be hmm.gif , i wonder whether its what pep told him to do..

Well, all I can say is, once the summer election has its winner, anything can happen. The new president may want to maneuver his first major signing at the very early stage, like Laporta did when signing Ronnie. The question is which player this time? Cesc and Rooney are the main names quoted by media, because of the glamors of course.

But if Rooney comes, where will he play? LW? If Cesc comes, will he play as CM, while Iniesta be drifted wide left? I am certainly against both ideas. I would rather spend those 70 millions euros (Rooney's alleged transfer fee) on D. Silva instead. Imagine Messi and Silve both swapping position. If no D. Silva, that LW position should be Pedro's without question.

i prefer Cesc over Rooney, Rooney grow up with English football style and need much time to adapt Barca style, we already have fantastic Pedro, Jeffren and Rochina also promising striker

btw good news Pep will stay next season

I checked FCB official website with excitement, but I couldn't find any picture showing Pep at Laporta's office, penning on a new deal. Has he signed the new contract?

Well, here is what I found in the official website:

QUOTE
The new contract will not be signed until the end of the current season with the new President installed at the club. For the moment, Josep Guardiola has expressed his desire to stay for at least another season as first team coach, giving his word to the club on the matter.

official website

Seem like Barca is just trying to brush away all rumors regarding Pep's future. That's all. So I will contain my excitement, until I see that picture.

And I also heard that if Pep signs the new contract with the new president, the duration will only be one year, as a try out period running the team under the new board. If he is satisfied with the new board, he will sign a much longer contract, perhaps until the term of the next president ends. Actually this rumor has surfaced before, the last time I heard was in the latest Football Focus iinm.

Why Baca wouldn't try to keep him, or that he would want to leave for Man Utd is beyond me. Barca is a bigger club to United with no financial problems. These kinda things make me wonder... FYI, Barca extended his contract to 2011, the end of next season. which is weird considering everything he's earned for Barca (6 trophies in 2009!); he should be signed for much longer periods

Guardiola, who has recently been linked with a move to Manchester United as a possible replacement for Sir Alex Ferguson when the Scot steps down at Old Trafford, admits he would have preferred to wait until the end of the season to make any announcement about his future.

I believe Laporta is now sweating like hell, feeling nervous about Pep's decision. Pep also denied that he is considering to take SAF's post, and has demanded the Catalan media to stop asking any related question in any media conference. He is apparently disgusted with those rumors.

There are many rumors why he would wish duration of the new contract is only 1 year. But I believe that is because:

1) Try out period under the management of new president;
2) If the new president is not satisfied with his work, the cost of compensation Barca have to pay him will be minimal;
3) To reduce the chance of complacency occurring at his side.

And yes, you read it right, it was Pep who has demanded the 1 year contract. Not Barca.

he's looking out for the club; what a great guy. Wish there were more of these managers around. Firing managers have costed clubs way too much money, but you can blame the boards for agreeing to such lengthy contract

as much as id like to see Barca the bigger team in spain, i dont want EPL to lose its quality players. I hope Cesc stays where he is.

He is a cule after all. He bleeds Barca's colors for nearly his whole life. Some people may say Barca fans overexaggarate Pep's influence, but for us, he is really a nice guy, and maybe the perfect manager for Barca. We were lucky that Laporta opted to pick him instead of Mourinho smile.gif smile.gif

Unbeaten for the whole first half of this season. Even a better record than last season. Keep up the good work players rclxms.gif rclxms.gif Alves was in an absolutely superb form rclxms.gif

Where are you guys? This thread has been strangely silent, in a week that is not so quiet in Spain. Plenty of issues we can talk about.

1) AS is helping RM to overturn CR red card decision, by providing the video of similar scuffle between Messi and Valiente. Messi was shown pushing Valiente in the video, while Valiente held his back. But yesterday, Valiente, Messi's 'victim', said CR's action cannot be compared to Messi's. Thanks Valiente for backing Messi up rclxms.gif rclxms.gif Messi has been silent so far.

2) I can't get the image of Filipe's ankle out of my head cry.gif cry.gif cry.gif cry.gif F**k!

3) We are in danger losing JDS, Thiago, Gai and Jeffren to British clubs, as their contracts expire this June doh.gif doh.gif Damn, those spoiled clubs surely don't have any idea to nurture their own players.

4) GDS goes on loan to Gala, to be reunited with Rijkaard. Lets pray he will blossom again rclxms.gif

Sabar faris, sabar tongue.gif At least he did something in the match. But he is indeed in a really bad patch. I think he was lost on the pitch. Y'know, same problem with what people say CR was having recently. Bigger players are always being blown for foul against smaller players. But on the other hand, we know very well how he was marked out in every game. There would always be an opponent marking him tightly from the back, and once the ball at Ibra's feet, the opponent would always challenge from behind, with hard tackle. Not saying that is bad from opponents, but Ibra is finding that not so easy to cope with right now. I've seen Ibra's being fault several time just because he played more physical against such opponents. I think Pep has more mental fine-tuning now. Earlier, it was for Pique, now it is time for Ibra.

Added on January 31, 2010, 1:54 pmGoal.com say our win was unconvincing. The commentator last night said that as well. I really don't have any idea why would they say that. Barca didn't have much trouble at all. Although our win was not as dominant as the 6-1 win last season, we are comfortable enoguh, and had Pedro scored with at least 3 more chances he fluffed over, people would have said something else. Not to say Ibra and Messi missed tons of chances as well.
