Henry looked lively. Ibra wasted his 2-3 chances including well wide free kick. Xavi played like s*** with his AdiPure. He can't hold the ball and pass. Busquets as always, promising going forward but make silly mistake. Pique is too slow. Last time he played against Villarreal, he was sent off. Did Guardiola notice that? He can't play against teams who passes the ball well, fast on counter-attack etc. There's lack of communications between him and Puyol that frustrated Puyol. May be Puyol need Milito? Then start play Milito even just for 15 mins!

The players were emotionally very like Alves. It is very rare to see Xavi fail to compose himself, but yesterday he did. Its all started with some controversial decisions by the referee against us, when he blew up the whistle for even the slightest touches. Heck, he even blew a foul for Ibra when he challenged a defender with his hands up in the air. Obviously no pushing there.

But silverwavec, to criticize Pep for playing Pique on the base that he didn't play well against Villareal last time around, or he can't play against fast counterattacking team, that is not right IMO. First, we all could agree the first 11 was the best we could throw in for a big match like this. Second, everybody play counterattack against us. Puyol-Pique partnership always stood strong. Much better than Puyol-Marquez. Milito has been out for more than 1 year. While Chyggy couldn't integrate well yet.

Despite playing bad, we had more chances than Villareal. Henry indeed looked lively. Javi Venta's 'speed' really gave Henry upper hand in several occasions. The effort that Pedro pounced onto was marvelous too. But he squandered 2-3 header chances as well.

Ibra will be suspended for the next game as well after receiving the booking doh.gif Pep hates that obviously, as he already issued a warning to him.

Rumors are circulating, stating that we are interested with Veloso and Afellay. I think Veloso will be cup tied for UCL for now. Not sure about Afellay.

Meanwhile, Bernard Lacombe, advisor of Lyon's president revealed that they are interested in Vieira, only to find out that Barca have already tabled an offer for him. But Vieira's concern is to play as much minutes as possible before WC, something that he might not get at Barca once Keita and Toure come back.

Totalbarca.com has published a marvelous piece about Pep Guardiola, being a good human. Here is the link. My favourite:

QUOTE
1. In May of 2008, when Guardiola had not even been officially signed as the coach of the first team, he found time to visit Gabi Milito in the hospital after his knee surgery. Pep was busy not only with the end of the season with the reserve team, but also with his new daughter, who had just been born. Yet, he surprised the defender with a long visit of more than three hours. The coach also stated at the beginning of this season that he “would rather see Gabi playing than win a title.”

Ibra is lucky not to be sent off for that ridiculous flying two-footed jump on one of the Villareal player. You take some, you get some. The ref may have been too fussy but on occasions but on that one, Ibra was very lucky not to see red whistling.gif

Yeah you are right he was lucky. That is why Pep was reportedly furious with Ibra. Well, he was infamous for his temperament anyway.

But come to think of it, when a player is called foul on every contact with opponent players, who doesn't get frustrated? He might as well be a netball professional player if he couldn't touch the opponent at all. Not defending Ibra's action. Pep already warned him. So hopefully Ibra will improve on that soon.

How did Milito get to play from the start? He is the first one who should know that he is not fit enough. Why did Chyggy seem like he hasn't been prepared at all? Always put pressure on Pinto with his bad passes. If he is surrounded by opponents, he just needs to kick the ball away to safety. That's basic IMO. Playing against Perotti, Kone and Navas absolutely demands more than just an experimental pair of defenders. Somehow, I do think that Pep doesn't mind to throw this cup away sad.gif

Yesterday was actually much worse than before doh.gif doh.gif At least in other matches, he showed some passes like the assist from Marquez yesterday. No sign of progression at all. Just some added madness.

Damn.. We still have to rely on pique-puyol.. If Gaby could recover his form then we'll have a good backup.. Chygy seems to be turning into another cacares.. Anybody fancy Muniesa? Not forgetting Rafael, but i'd prefer him at DM instead of CB coz he's inconsistent defensively but at DM he can do some playmaking.. Still he's no match for sergi tho..
