For 5.1 speaker set you can also consider Klipsch RF-52 5.1 set. After discount should be under 7k.

Also check out the PSB Imagine series.

How many people here actually running and enjoying full HD audio with your current setup? Care to share your components/hardware specs?

FULL HD LCD --- BLURAY PLAYER / PS3 --- HITB / AV RECEIVER / SPEAKERS (HD AUDIO READY/COMPATIBLE)

I also need recommendations on HITB/AV receiver/speakers that supports HD audio :

-entry level (about RM1-1.8k)
-midrange level (RM2-4k+)

Please advise. smile.gif

I'm new to this home theater stuff.

From my understanding, if I want to connect via HDMI from my pc to the HDTV, I'll need an A/V receiver to get the surround sound stuff+video. But I read that some receivers do switching while others do decoding?

I'm thinking the optimal solution would be one HDMI cable from the receiver to the HDTV, while the other devices, such as pc, blu-ray player etc should connect to the A/V receiver. The receiver would then handle all the audio stuff while the video would be passed towards the HDTV, essentially making it a monitor.

2ndly, there are those HDTVs with USB/SD card inputs that will play movies from it directly, would the above setup suffice to output the audio from the TV to the receiver?

Or most A/V receivers would do all these?

What kind of a receiver should I be looking for if the budget is 1-1.5k?

Thanks
