As requested by gundamalpha, I'll post the procedures to go online of MHG according to my experience. I can't do much at the moment since I'm at work but I'll try my best to put it in words. I do not guarantee that it will be the same for MH3 but this is to give you a taste of what you will encounter on MH3's release.



First of all, like all other home console MH games, MH3 will have 2 options on where to go when you load your character which are Village and Town. Choosing Town will take you to online mode. After that, you'll see a series of loading screens (make sure your wii is connected to your wireless router or your lan cable is plugged into your wii).

When you're connected, you'll be presented with a ToS agreement which of course you'll have to choose yes to proceed (note that playing the game from outside japan is against ToS so you know what to do).

After you've agreed to follow their ToS, you can now create your online account, it's very straight forward and it doesn't ask for email confirmations whatsoever but you do need to put in a username and password. Note that you can only create 3 accounts per console and if you're banned 3 times, you're screwed. I'm not sure if deleting your entire MH data will reset it as I've never done that myself but you're welcome to do it at your own risk. If this is your first time registering for an online account, you will be given 20 days free so you'd better put online registration on hold if you want to complete offline first. Don't worry about securing online names first because identical names are allowed because MH uses PLAYER ID to distinguish between different players. Once all that is done, you'll be issued a game ID and you can enter your username and password to access the online world. You may choose to save the password so that next time you can just select which PLAYER ID you want to go online with and it won't prompt you to type in your password.

If your 20 days has expired and you want to purchase tickets to continue playing online, you must first buy points from Wii Shopping channel. When you have the points, access online mode up till the part where you have to select which PLAYER ID you want to play, there will be an option to purchase tickets. Select it and you will be prompted to choose which package you want (30, 60, 90 days). Choose one and capcom will deduct the shown amount of wii points from your account and you're good to go.

Back to topic, is Wii LAN adapter easy to find locally? Planning to use direct connection rather than wifi to avoid any trouble setting up (I'm no good at networking)

How about Wii points? Locally available? If not have to buy prepaid ones from PA

MH3 sounds very tempting ........!!

in the beginning of the game after u've talked to the cheif of village, get a raw meat go to the resting area next to area 2,
talk to the guy there, then put that raw meat in front of him, talk to him again, return to village, done!

Nope, don't really trust wifi.. plus I need to get a wifi router or LAN adapter, so I choose the latter. Quality more important than wireless

we need some japanese pro to post the quest info, so we know what to do lol~

I'm not going online until tomorrow. Today will be very crowded because its the first day and its a saturday. Sundays usually have less people, yes its true. If it was anything like MH1jp 5 years ago, it'll be so full you can't even log in.

No, accounts are assigned to specific consoles and not accessible on another console. The saved game is copy protected as well.

So how's online TenSou? How similar is the ranking system to PSP?

How does the events go? Fixed like PSP or random like PS2?

As expected from MH3 screens from famitsu that I have seen prior to release, they have adopted Frontier's style of online. This may confuse the new players who have never played Frontier before.

Hunter Rank is the same as all home console MH games meaning, you gain HR like levels and completing quests gives you HR Points or "experience points" to HR up.

I don't really understand what you mean by random like PS2 since all event quests are pretty much fixed as the schedule for the entire month is posted on MH3's official website but once you miss the time duration of the quests, you have to wait for the event quest to come back another day.

What I really hate about online mode is the chat system. The chat window is extremely small (4 lines) and to make the chat window appear you have to press "-" twice! Try chatting while hunting, which was possible in previous games until this one. I can't believe they took something that was perfect since the first game and screw it up entirely in MH3. They could have at least used the other 2 shoulder buttons on the classic controller to make the chat window appear but no, both ZL and ZR are completely useless. If this paragraph makes me sound frustrated, I AM!! Chatting has never been such a pain in the ass until MH3.

It makes me wonder, is it possible to solo while online? What if while you co-op/solo online and got disconnected?

Let's hope the US team will help to improve!

Can anyone explain the point in the game ? The point use for planting.
Is it got 2 type of point?
When I killing the monster left bottom corner got show how many point I get, but the point didn't add in the point which is use for farming or platning.

u need to talk to the guy standing on top of the box, then submit the list of monster u killed (something like that) and points will be added to the total points and can be used for fishing and farming.

Max points i get so far is around 1k. killing 2 dos jagi (dono correct name or not) and 1 kurupekko and some other monsters~

talking to the guy on the box will also tell u wat monster are there so u can go hunt

well u cant farm there like the old MHP2ndG/MHFUnite. If you want bug, just give them the bug and they will produce the bug for u, same goes to mushroom. U can select how many days. After that talk to the chief in the farm to get those farm item. What u need is point and the cat will do all the job for u

worth investing in this game?

Offline experience: The game is pretty refreshing so far because of the monsters' roster. But it feels underwhelmed to some extend to be honest. The roster is too small, too little maps variety, and no matter what others say, taking out 4 weapon types is always a downer. If I were to put content volume in figures, MHP2 would be 100, MHP2G is 130, and MH3 only have 70 at most.

I love it, but doesn't mean it couldn't be better. If you have a Wii then you should give it a try, but not to the extend you'd want to get a Wii just for this unless you are a MH freak.

If you started from MHP2, of course you'll think the map varieties are less because MHP2G only recycled MH1's maps to increase the number. Home console MH games never lets you access all monsters, equips and maps in offline modes. If you want more, you'll have to go online because if they give you everything offline, a lot of people won't be going online and capcom won't be raking in the profit for online fees. MH3 is restarting the entire franchise by introducing an almost all new cast of monsters and weapons so there will be less stuff compared to the previous "expansions" (all MH2 games are considered expansions of the first MH). In my opinion, other than the horrible water controls and online system, this game definitely lives up to the MH franchise.

I started from MHP, not MHP2. Less is less, no matter how you name it. Not that it is a bad thing, but it's still less content than MHP2G by quite a huge margin nonetheless.

Weirdly, I do love the water control in MH3, it's gives a new breathing air to the series.

I never play MH b4... will I miss anything, if I jump in at MH3?

and online exp... what am I expecting? access to many different maps and monsters and weapons/armors?

sorri noob here, how they even detected through online when we play offline with cheat?

Because the save file for offline/online is the same

somehow if u cheat for certain monster item which u never hunt before or having insane amount of certain item?

Even English patch could lead to ban..

so far no body kena ban for english patch yet if not mistaken, because Vuze is using health cheat in offline. Some how the error message warns bout modification thing, and I cant figure out how they find out about the modification of english patch? Unless the english patch mess with the save file? If they use cheat, capcom server might be able to detect those data packet. But for english mod I am not that sure yet.
