the jumping is becuz of IDA(Intel Dynamic Acceleration)... it boasts up the multiplier to a higher level when only 1 core is required...
anyway, it's different on 2 instances of CPU-Z is probably becuz IDA was activated for a short period of time, and the CPU-Z on the right did not catch that...

Uh, is it happening all the time? Cuz the reading jump every few seconds... So the actual speed is 2.1GHz? I though I read 1.73GHz in most online reviews... lol!
(patut it beat my sister's 2.1GHz so damn easy)

no it doesn't... it really juz depends on the apps that u re running... this feature was to address the lack of speed of the Core Duo (the predecessor of Core 2) 3yrs ago when running single-threaded apps... back then an older highly clocked Pentium-M can out perform a low clocked CD or even C2D when such apps are ran... so IDA was added to C2D to give it a boost of speed... Added on November 9, 2009, 6:46 ambtw, updated ur results, waiting for ur 3D Mark 06 screenie... This post has been edited by astria: Nov 9 2009, 06:46 AM

Oh thanks for the info! (btw, I running less than 10kbps now... 3Dmark06 will up tomorrow anyway~ lol)
Eh............ What the... I am running QUIET OFFICE MODE now... the CPU running 2.1GHz??? I thought I was running Max Performance mode... Is that SUM of 2 core's speed? Why other tools like Everest, PassMark says 1.06GHz (8x multiplier is correct though)?

M1X, there should be overclock option on the bios, 0%-5%, can up it from 1.73GHz to 2.1GHz iirc

Hmm... 1GHz? 1.3GHz? 1.7GHz? 2.1GHz? Woah the CPU is making my head spinning... lol! SO that means the CPU runs at least 1.7GHz all the time~ Cuz the minimum reading I get from CPU-Z is 1.7GHz, not 1.3GHz or 1GHz...
Anyway, the performance s impressive nevertheless. But the position of the HDD is not so good, the left-side palm rest is warm, while the right-side palm rest is cold... If SSD price and capacity goes to an acceptable level, I might consider to move to SSD...

I mean it can further more overclock using the bios, so it can run 2.1GHz at all time.

Hmm, maybe I just keep it as it is for now, cuz the temperature is 40 to 50 degree... It IS quite a high number for me... It get even hotter when playing games... 60 degree... I donno the GPU's temperature though.

60C for a C2D is really very high...
i only have such temp when playing games... and i am using a T9550...
perhaps there's really not much heatsink to talk abt in the UL80Vt... considering it's size and weight...

@M1X, that's pretty decent for a laptop under 3k. Could you please run 3DMark 06 for comparison sake? Thanks.

Yeah I would like to, but net connection now is SO slow that I can't manage to download 3D mark 06. But I will do it tomorrow at my college, using high speed network. =)

@M1X, your RAM is 2x1gb or 1x2gb? Just to confirm, does your UL80VT comes with bluetooth? As per Anandtech's review, UL series does not have bluetooth.

QUOTE(lee_what2004 @ Nov 9 2009, 07:10 AM) M1X, there should be overclock option on the bios, 0%-5%, can up it from 1.73GHz to 2.1GHz iirc but according to this reviewer the bios overclock doesnt affect anything after u enabled the turbo33 option in windows..looks more like cpuz is reporting error clock speed QUOTE source: http://www.mobile01.com/topicdetail.php?f=233&t=1296797This post has been edited by sianlang: Nov 10 2009, 01:45 AM
