this thing is been bothering me since i bought my q9550 proc..

im using gigabyte ep45-ds3
hyperx ddr2-800
gtx260(216)
q9550 proc (E0 stepping)
cm690 casing

im running all on stock speed and i just recently change my cooler to xigmatek red scorpion

the idle temp n load temp are still not in the region where i want it to be before i overclock..

my room temp is about 30C

my rig temp when idle is 45, 39, 38, 39

full load is 63, 58, 57, 59 (using intelburn test)

isit normal? seems kinda high.. i wan increase increase cpu host freq oso dun dare..

i asked this question numerous times n i din get a proper answer..

i need a favor from any q9550 who overclock their pc to like return bak to normal clock speed and multiplier den check ur temp.. isit the same??
room temp is 29 to 30C

well, can i go on to like overclock to 400mhz cpu clock?? i wan to overclock to 400mhz to match my ram speed so can achieve 1:1 ratio..

hey.. bad news.. increased cpu clock to 400mhz.. when stress using intelburntest, it freeze up.. den i try increase vcore to 1.27v.. still freeze.. i think i need to increase vdimm oso n others rite?? wat to adjust btw??
very new to this things but very interested.. read several threads bout it.. but i wan to have some of u recommending on wat to do..

wat should i do?? btw.. if cpu overclock d, ram unstable oso will crash rite..

i think my ram have problem.. i cannot put my computer on sleep or hibernate.. as soon as i open it out from sleep n hibernate, it will come out BSOD..

the thing is, when i do intelburn test n all, the test says all stable n etc. like intelburntest, the residue (norm) values equal to each other.. soo tat means my ram ok rite?? im not sure

and on a happy note.. when my room temp is 28C, the proc temperature is 40,36,32,37.. wow.. jus 2 degree difference in room temp can give soo big diff in proc temperature

if i want to run it at 3.2ghz?? shud be no prob rite.. alot ppl running it at tat speed also rite..

den run games crash..

soo its likely ram problem u suggest? proc failed wont freeze ah.. ic..

anyway, corsiar dominator 4gb(2x2gb) ddr2-1066 good?? maybe RMA den sell it off(since i wanted a ddr2 1066 since long time ago d)

just one thing, my mobo fsb max till 1600 oni.. soo i cannot get 1:1 ratio for fsb:dimm..

will the difference be big if i change to ddr2 1066 and ddr2 800 since my max fsb stuck at 1600.

btw talking about trading, if i RMA den i can sell it like at sumwhere near new price rite.. cuz its practically new rite? its not like im lying or anything.. i just send bak for RMA..

auto voltage and timing is 5-5-5-15 (which is stock)

will try tat.. the ram sticker says 2.0v but data sheet from kingston say 1.8v..
soo i shud bump up to 2.0v.. now on auto volt is 1.8v.. once change voltage in bios, how to c the voltage change on cpuzz.. i rmb cant c voltage increase of ram in cpuz rite..

well, ur idle are much better than mine.. when i overclock to 3.4ghz @ 400 x 8.5 using all stock vcore, vdimm etc etc, idle temp in 30C room is 51, 47, 47 47.. still normal?? sorry for asking this question gazillion time.. really wanna make sure oni..

anyway, i think since most ppl say its okay.. yea.. den its okay.. haha.. as long dun touch 70C im happy d..

northbridge voltage is labelled as wat in bios?? wats mch etc etc.. alot voltage can change but dunno wat isit lo..

lol.. even better news.. after increasing vcore to 1.275v and vdimm to 2.000v, it is highly stable n the temperature is lovely.. haha

its normal n its cool right.. yay.. now im happy.. i cant overclock further d.. mobo fsb max is 1600mhz.. n btw ram is not faulty.. after increase vdimm, it din freeze.. haha

wow.. overclocking is actually fun.. haha

may i know how do ppl do tat??

lol.. my proc i confident wit it.. my mobo n ram.. haha.. abit the problem..
anyway, its all done by jus adjusting clock n voltages rite.. multiplier locked d cannot change rite.

btw, my vcore 1.275V.. isit too high for 3.4ghz.. sorry ppl.. its 3.4ghz not 3.2ghz..

wow.. another thing.. if i set vcore to auto.. lol.. my temps are higher.. wth.. its 50,47,46,48 idle.. wth

hopefully wont cut short my proc life.. voltage same n temp cool.. haha

Reached a point where im confused..

soo my target overclock is 3.4ghz (400x8.5)
my vcore 1.25v
vdimm 2.00v

it is stable when i just did the settings and restart.. even priming and intelburntest no issues..

the problem now is that once my pc is left untouched for a few hours, den i got problem booting up windows.. it passes the POST test then just before loading windows, the com restarts then the clock all will go back to default to 333x8.5..

are there settings that i missed?? i read also that i should remove some of the auto voltages and set the default voltages manually right??

what other setting to i need to touch to keep it stable??

btw, should i touch the cpu termination voltage, and the pll voltages?? i set them on auto now..

do i need to bump up my mch voltage oso??

10 cycles of intelburntest.. 1 test abt 70 seconds.. soo about 10 minutes
well.. shud be quite long enuf d rite

okay.. i think my cpu stable... its just tat when left for a few hours, when going to load windows, it will restart den the bios will change it back to old settings..
