that boy need to flex.gif his body in order to stand up bigger against the BPL defenders (remember the skinny ronaldo), he's already got the height thumbup.gif

still lacks of confidence imo, like teragak2 wanna drible but positioning already thumbup.gif ...ahh more match experience will overcome that though, really hope SAF will give him more matches next season icon_idea.gif

Boss talks up Macheda chances

QUOTE
Federico Macheda scored his second goal in as many starts on the pre-season tour of Asia in the 3-2 win over FC Seoul, prompting Sir Alex to declare that the 17-year-old Italian striker can make a real impact at Old Trafford this season.

Wayne Rooney, Dimitar Berbatov and Michael Owen may be Sir Alex's main striking options, but Macheda's rapid adaptation to first-team life means he is knocking on the door. The United boss has already highlighted Kiko as "a hero in the making", saying that he can make a similar impact as Cristiano Ronaldo did as a young emerging talent.

"The goal Macheda scored was excellent," the boss said at his post-match press conference. "The lad has a real chance. His movement is very good and he does well when he gets onto the shoulder of the last defender.

"He took his goal very well. It’s pleasing to see our strikers scoring – obviously the main players are Rooney, Berbatov and Owen and I’m very comfortable with that. But if Macheda continues his progress then it gives me a big advantage. An extra player like that will do us the world of good."

The Reds were twice behind against FC Seoul, who provided a more demanding test of United's fitness than in previous matches against a Malaysia XI. Rooney and Macheda got the equalisers before Berbatov scored the winner. "It was a very good, open and entertaining game," added the boss. "Without question FC Seoul gave us our most difficult game so far. I enjoyed it.

"The match was played at a good pace and good intensity. It’s the type of game we needed. I’m pleased with the result and pleased with the quality of the match."

Dream day for Ji

QUOTE
Ji-sung Park relished the experience of representing the Reds in his home city of Seoul as he helped United secure a 3-2 victory.

The winger is something of a national hero in Korea and his introduction to proceedings in the 74th minute produced the loudest cheer of the day.

It was Park's first pre-season outing after he was given extra time off to recover from his country's World Cup qualifiers which took place late into June. And the man himself was delighted to kick-start his preparations for the new campaign in familiar surroundings.

"Two years ago [during United's 2007 Asia Tour] I was injured and wasn’t able to play and I regretted that. This time I’m very satisfied to have played a part and I think it was a good game," he said at a post-match press conference.

"My physical condition is still not at 100 per cent and I know I have to improve my performance. But this was a good match to be involved in and it was also a great opportunity for the fans to see all the world-class players in the United squad.

"I was in awe at all the chanting and shouting from the crowd. It’s an honour to have grown into a player that so many fans look at as a role model. My team-mates were joking with me, asking if I was the King of Korea!

"I feel very honoured and satisfied about the turn of events today."

Macheda has been very impressive this pre-season. Showed the hunger for the ball, has pretty good control (but a heavy first touch) and showed composure in his finishing. At 17, he's still far from a finished article, but this lad shows promise and I'm pretty sure Owen is just holding the no. 7 shirt temporarily before this man grows into his own. His height and maturity with the ball is far superior to many other 17 year olds out there. I certainly have high hopes for the guy, could turn out to be a massive player.

Of course, until Real Madrid comes and takes him away to Spain.

Him and Welbeck will have a good future, if not with us, with someone else. Macheda is ready in terms of physical ability, but not sure yet about his general play. But we know for sure he's got that killer vibe about him in the penalty box. And Welbeck have everything in him.. just need to work on his decision making which would come in time, and his physical side.. he's gonna be huge. And then we have that Diouf guy.. not sure what SAF plans are.. and also looking at the wingers, we have tons of them!
