Berbatov LOOKS lazy when he plays, but as lazy as some people claim, he can get past opponent's defenders and bring the ball forward with no unnecessary skills, the ball looks like 'stick' to his feet everytime he bring the balls and one thing Berbatov's critics should not forget is, he thinks.

i feel we're lack of creativity in the central midfield. we depends a lot on wing. that's what haunt us in champion league final. we can beat the small teams. but facing the likes of chelsea, liverpool and european teams will be a problem. look at arsenal during their pre season against rangers. it just blows me up. they remind me of barcelona. the passing rate and accuracy.

worried..

Vidic set to miss start of Premier League season

QUOTE
Nemanja Vidic will miss the start of the Barclays Premier League season.

Vidic: Calf strain

Vidic has been ruled out of the Community Shield showpiece against Chelsea on Sunday at
Wembley and the following game with Birmingham because of a calf injury.

Wes Brown is also sidelined this weekend with a thigh problem but is expected back for the
opening league match while Gary Neville is unavailable because of a groin strain.

Ferguson said: "Neither Wes or Nemanja have long-term injuries. I would expect Wes to
be fit for the game a week on Sunday.

"As for Vidic he pulled his calf in the warm-up in Munich (against Bayern Munich) and is
two weeks away.

"Gary is doing a little bit of training and coming on fine but I do not think he will make Sunday."

With goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar out for up to ten weeks with broken fingers, Ferguson
has to choose between Ben Foster and Tomasz Kuszczak against Chelsea.

Both played a half in the game against Valencia in midweek and Ferguson added:
"We have a selection dilemma as to who plays in goal on Sunday. It is not an easy one for me."

Man Utd (from): Foster, Kuszczak, O'Shea, Ferdinand, Evans, Evra, Valencia, Fletcher,
Carrick, Scholes, Anderson, Gibson, Nani, Giggs, Rooney, Owen, Berbatov, Macheda, Tosic, Fabio, Cleverley, De Laet.

Rio fully fit for new season

QUOTE
Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand says he has no injury worries as he gears up for the new season.

The 30-year-old suffered with a succession of back injuries last season and then missed much of the build-up to the UEFA Champions League final with a calf strain.

However, ahead of the Community Shield match against Chelsea on Sunday, Ferdinand has said he is fully fit and hopes to play a full part in the upcoming campaign.

"I am fine," he said. "There are no problems.

"I have not missed any training sessions this pre-season, not missed any games and played a lot of minutes.

"I am delighted and feeling good. Long may that continue this season.

"The club have been really good. I've had rest and maintenance, a good pre-season tour and training. That's the most important thing."

Team

There are still many who believe United will struggle to match their achievements in recent seasons after Cristiano Ronaldo's move to Real Madrid.

But, having seen the likes of David Beckham and Ruud van Nistelrooy leave Old Trafford during his seven years at the club, Ferdinand believes there is little cause for concern.

"We have been here before," he said.

"A lot of us have been around a few years and seen so many come through the doors and go.

"This club moves on from any individual coming and going and that's the same in this instance.

"The team is more important than one single player. That has always been the case and will always remain."

McLeish - Ronaldo loss no problem

QUOTE
Birmingham City manager Alex McLeish has said Manchester United can adapt to the loss of Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Blues take on United in their first Premier League game since promotion from the Championship, and McLeish will be looking to upset the odds at Old Trafford.

United will have to regain their league trophy without Portuguese star Ronaldo after his big-money move to Real Madrid, but the Blues boss doesn't believe it will be too much of a problem.

He told Sky Sports News: "I think they have struggled for a while to find their feet, but having beaten Valencia 2-0 the other night - I wish I had Sir Alex Ferguson's problems.

"People like Wayne Rooney will adapt to the system, they will flourish, I am sure that they will flourish.

"Michael Owen looks as though he has got a good pre-season behind him and they have so many other fantastic players."

McLeish may hand league debuts to a number of new signings at Old Trafford after a busy summer in the transfer marker.

The likes of Christian Benitez, Barry Ferguson and Lee Bowyer could all line-up against the Red Devils next Sunday.

united dont depend on the wing.. its just united style at the moment.
we are stronger at the wing to attack and coz of that advantage united play wider kind of football

what haunt us at final CL not coz we lack of creativity but coz the moral of the player.. united are so shock of the early goal we never recover especially on the first half.
yes we hv problem when facing big team.. but who doesnt?

arsenal strenght hv always been great short pass and one touch football.. but that doesnt mean sure to win.
worried? i'm more anxious to meet the big team.. cant wait for tomorrow game and vs arsenal end of the month rclxm9.gif

Seriously, i hope you guys will temper down your lofty expectations. I'm happy if we even win the EPL next year. We have made some major changes in the team and that will effect the way we play.

It's not all about winning you know.....

Anderson and Giggs are both creative. So is Carrick. Barca just got the better of us tactically and we just had no answer. It was all us for the first 10 mins or so.. we were the one likely to score, but then Eto'o got the better of Vidic, and the rest is history. We badly missed Fletcher/Hargo that night, although like you say, we just couldn't do anything against them. A bit unfair to just focus on the Barca game, since they had the best front 3 and have two of the best midfielders in the world playing for them. Our midfield while not the best around, is more than a match for any team especially when one of Hargo/Fletcher is around.

Well, our first team is obviously weakened when we lose someone like Ronaldo.. best(one of the) player in the world. Nobody apart from Messi/Ribery could fix that. We'll cope fine without Ronaldo IMO. Whoever starts at any given time will have to get the goals Ronaldo used to get. I'm sure they're capable of doing that. And in Valencia we have someone who will create chances for us all game long. Whether he's good enough to perform against the big boys remains to be seen, but we'll find out soon enough. Signs are good ATM.. really looking forward to him cementing that RW position. It's Ronaldo's match winning qualities that will be missed. Someone else have to step up regarding that..

But we still have a fantastic squad and most of them are still young, and as the past three seasons show, we are very successful using this group of players. We don't rely on the old guards anymore(Scholes hardly a regular, Giggs as an impact player), and in Anderson, Nani, Rooney, Fletcher, Evans etc, you know they would improve with time, and right now they are already very good players. Then we have the likes of Rafael, Fabio, Cathcart, Welbeck and Macheda coming through.. there's plenty to look forward to IMO.

Yeap....we have been adopting wing play ever since fergie took over the club.....from kanchelski to ryan giggs to ronaldo and now Valencia... and for now i rarely see any of the EPL team adopting wing play apart from maybe Liverpool? Villa? Totenham?

Wing play are mostly most exciting to watch in current footbal.... as it prove to be more dynamic and pacey game....

no worry bout the CM thou....i just wish anderson can steps up the plate and help scholes ease a bit of his burden....that should be fine...

We have always been a hybrid between wing play and 'through the middle' play. If somehow Uncle Fergie decides to emphasize more on the wings,i can foresee Rooney going back to the left wing position...

Hopefully Nani or Tosic can step up and secure that position just so Rooney can play as a center forward or second/supporting striker.

Rooney given central role

QUOTE
Sir Alex Ferguson expects Wayne Rooney to thrive under the pressure of having to score more goals this season.

Cristiano Ronaldo has been Manchester United's most prolific goalscorer in recent campaigns and doubts have been raised in some quarters about whether the team can be as successful without him.

Ferguson has brought in Michael Owen and will be hoping for a better return from Dimitar Berbatov, while Federico Macheda is also likely to get more opportunities following his emergence last term.

However, Rooney will have to shoulder much of the responsibility and the England international is set to play in a more central position up front, having previously being deployed in a variety of roles.

Ferguson is convinced that Rooney will cope with the weight of expectation and make a huge impact as United look to defend their Premier League title.

"I don't think the responsibility of getting more goals will affect Wayne at all," said the United boss.

Mental strength

"He's got the mental strength for all that kind of thing. He's proved that time and time again.

"He will be used as a central striker this season. He goes on these bursts of goals.

"Last season I think he hit seven in a row at one point - but if he can do that more consistently over the season, he will get to 25 and above.

"But Wayne is a totally different type of player to Ronaldo. I don't think you can compare them, they are such different types."
