even my intel c2d laptop can't reach that low temp when the fan is even noisier than the K50AB fan.
i guess the K40AB/K50Ab design for cooling is just awesome.

i've managed to hit 36 degrees too, in a/c room. i think 36 degrees is the lowest already for the proc.

QUOTE(GothFebrio @ Sep 2 2009, 11:02 PM) thats for old laptop....new one doesnt need to remove to preserve the battery. because after the battery fully charged while u using it then it will go direct to ur pc instead of through the battery then to pc....u can check the battery light. correct, I'm using Vista, and if I turn on my laptop with >96% charge with adapter plugged in, the laptop battery won't be charged whilst the laptop will directly draw power from the adapter. plus use it for some time. do not never use ur battery. because if u never use ur battery for quite long time also will damage the battery.... I'm not sure if XP has this function or not... perhaps not. |

QUOTE(RoxyGal @ Sep 4 2009, 02:08 AM) yes without modded....dont wanna mod it coz the hazzle of driver bug just because extra few fps juice and vista optimze startup without CCC and ATI tools. hmm so with this so-called 20% cooler thing, what is ur lowest temp? display? can set or it will auto set.. when on battery if will auto set to 3200 before asking you to press ok...on power will be 4570. can also manually select it also. so my Asus ati driver consider bug free coz i just bought it yesterday. Latest K40AB with 20% cooler sticker. With my K50AB, i can hit 36 deg celcius when idling inside air-con room, and another forumer also managed to hit 36 deg celcius when idling in non-a/c room. QUOTE(lchan @ Sep 4 2009, 10:29 AM) Celaka,...my laptop battery stop chargin at 97% and says unable to charge. At this rate i keep on calibrating the battery, 100% will actually mean 10% in real battery power. Never seen a battery dying to damn fast. i never encountered this problem before. maybe u got a lemon unit? |

I can choose when to use Auto-Fan control and when to use Max-Fan speed. Max fan speed really rocks as even the top part of the laptop doesn't feel hot anymore.
Added on September 4, 2009, 5:17 pm QUOTE(suadrif @ Sep 4 2009, 12:26 PM) bro i didn't mod driver. using the driver downloaded from AMD/Ati website as shown in Najmods first post here.if i not mistaken, Asus K40AB got 1year warranty for batery and charger. see here: http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?act=ST&f=98&t=931928 ======================================================================================= is the sticker show something like this? Ok. Here's how I do it for those who didn't really get what I said earlier. FYI, I'm using K50AB purchased from All-IT.
Step 1: Update Windows Vista completely (I'm using Vista Ultimate 32 bit). Step 2: Install AMD/ATi drivers from official website (not Asus website). Other drivers, use the included driver CD to install all. Step 3: Switch from HD4570 to HD3200 via ATi driver inside Windows. Step 4: Go to Sleep mode via Start Menu. Step 5: Wake up from Sleep by pressing any key or mouse click. Step 6: The fan will now be spinning at full speed! (Note: You can change to HD4570 back now for gaming, and the fan will still be running at full speed. However, if you plugged/unplugged your power supply, you need to restart Step 3 and onwards) Key benefits: - Temperature at idle is as low 36 degrees Celsius. You will realize even the hard disk and top-right-hand side corner is no longer warm! - Temperature at gaming is still very low, since the Asus K50AB is designed to cool all parts of the laptop (comprehensive-exhaust system). - The air that the fan is blowing out will not be as hot as before as the fan speed can push much more air out, thus preventing heat build-up. - Longer life for your laptop components and battery. |

QUOTE(xKAIZERUx @ Sep 6 2009, 02:05 PM) That it! The step I miss is to change to 3200 graphic. Now I can also make the fan full Speed!. haha. Not really exploit la. But saying exploit sounds cool. lol.Really convenient bug I would say. Could this be called an Exploit? shockk, do you put the back cover on or open it up? I cabut the cover. and do nothing leave it overnight. That is how I get the 36c. If just like this maybe just around 40 something.... I used with back cover on, but I used in air-con room. Maybe one of these days will try with back cover open inside air-con room and see if can go lower than 36 degrees Celcius or not. QUOTE(Najmods @ Sep 6 2009, 02:10 PM) I'll try it on Windows 7 RC7100 K40AB and K50AB both brothers mah. They are the same in my eyes. The comprehensive exhaust system cracks me up, the cooling and layout is EXACTLY the same as k40AB, how can you say it was better than k40AB QUOTE(suadrif @ Sep 6 2009, 08:30 PM) Your welcome.Do test it out and let us know here how it helps especially if you are using K40AB or something. K40AB should technically benefit more since the insides are more cramped up - shorter distance for heat transfer via airflow. QUOTE(Muhammad Syukri @ Sep 6 2009, 09:09 PM) In step 2,i go to the AMD/ATI official website but couldnt find Ati HD 4570 under mobility radeon??? I used the driver from the link posted by sifu Najmods in the first post. This post has been edited by shockk: Sep 7 2009, 11:07 AM |

QUOTE(xKAIZERUx @ Sep 18 2009, 08:37 AM) Guys, i'm considering getting a new HDD soon, and i'm in a bind. For me, more space is always more important than speed, which doesn't make that much difference.should I get the larger 500GB 5400rpm hdd or the faster 320GB 7200rpm hdd? is the performance in both hdd is really noticeable? |

Wow. The K50AB club is getting bigger and bigger. I guess more people prefer bigger screens these days eh.
