14 July: GO.esc is unveiled to the world.

QUOTE
The Team To DreamHack

As for now, Go International is able to confirmed ONE Counter-Strike 1.6 team and ONE blogger will be going to DreamHack Winter 2009. More games might be announced on 1st August.

According to Jasmine, they are still working towards their ideal Team Malaysia contingent which is pretty huge - could easily involved more than 20 people from gamers, indie band and youth journalist. Jasmine also welcomes any individuals, bands or organization who are able to self-fund the trip, to be under the Team Malaysia banner.

DreamHack Malaysia Qualifiers Timeline

1st - 2nd August: Registration begins at the Indie Youth Festival’09 kick-off event in One Utama. Go International did mentioned that online registration might be opened at the same time.

August: GO.esc (pronounced as GO-escape) Penang Roadshow

September: GO.esc Johor and Kuching Roadshows

14 - 18 October: GO.esc Grand Finals @ Indie Youth Festival’09 in One Utama

That’s all we got from yesterday’s signing ceremony. Meanwhile, you can start “Makan, Main & Tidur Dreamhack“, learn some Swedish or better still, polish your gaming skill and get ready to win the ticket to Sweden as this is indeed the once in a lifetime opportunity. Game on!

Hello guys,

Here's some updates on GO.Esc provided by Jasmine Low, managing director of Go.

Registration for Dreamhack Malaysia Qualifier (CS 1.6) and GO.ESC has been officially opened. Log on to http://www.indieyouthfest.com for more information.

At this moment, they are working hard to add more games for qualification to Scandinavia (you know where tongue.gif). So, watch this space.

As for other games, don't fret yet as they are conducting negotiations with the publisher to include more game titles in GO.ESC.

Again, watch... this.. space! biggrin.gif

So about the casual gaming section, does it held on the date of CS 1.6 state qualifier or something as well? :]

Might be interested to join from Sarawak.

I try to get back to Jasmine if there's any state qualifier from Sarawak, Johor or Penang.

Currently they're in negotiation with SMM, so as usual, watch this space wink.gif

i'm wondering what kind of prizes they're setting for the "casual" games >,<

and also of course, which tracks they'll be using, since according to the website they were planning to use ESWC2009 tracks, but since the ESWC servers are now defunct...

Hi Guys, For more info you can always check our website and our blog for more info now you can check the link below:

http://indieyouthfest.wordpress.com/activities/e-sport/

Firstly, a big thank you to our partners this year. Sendi Mutiara Multimedia and E-Club Management will be assisting us in building this newly launched tournament –
GO International E-sport Cup (GO.esc).

What kind of games will be played at GO.esc?

Gamers, take note. There will be the following games offered so far – we will announce more games later as negotiations are still underway. These are for national competition at GO.esc to be held at GF High Street, 1Utama Shopping Centre. Qualifiers will be held from 14-16 October, with the Grand Finals held on 17 & 18 October. Over RM70,000 worth of cash and prizes to be won!!!
The official GO.esc games are:

• Trackmania [platform - PC]
• Tetris [platform - Mobile Phone]
• Bejewelled [platform - Facebook]
• Bookworm Deluxe [platform - PC]
• Grand Theft Auto 4.0 [platform - pc]
Register to Play.

The Official GO.esc // DreamHack Malaysia games are:

•Counter Strike 1.6 gamers, please Register. to play at least 72 hours before each State Qualifier.
•One single player game – to be announced later because DreamHack has not yet announced the full game list as yet. Thank you for your patience. Meanwhile, please give us your feedback on which game you strongly feel Go International Group should nominate as our next official game for DreamHack.

The winner of the Official GO.esc // DreamHack Malaysia games will WIN a trip to represent Malaysia in Sweden. Go International Group will sponsor flight, accommodation and seats for one champion team of each of the official games to Jankoping, Sweden for DreamHack Winter from 26-29 November 2009.

NEWS UPDATES

Go International Group has secured a partnership with World’s Largest LAN party and computer festival, DreamHack Sweden.
Organisers of Indie Youth Fest will be putting together an independent homegrown tournament for pro-gamers. Get ready for the Go International Electronic Sports Cup 2009, also known as GO.esc. In partnership with the Largest Computer / Digital Festival in the world that also threw the most enormous LAN party as recorded by Guinness Book of Records (2007), GO.esc doubles up as the DreamHack Malaysian Qualifiers.
Games line-up include Counter Strike 1.6 and several other games to be announced on 1st August. Teams are invited to register in person, or online from 1st August onwards. We’re sorry! Requests before that date will not be entertained.

Go International E-Sports Cup(2008)

In 2008, Indie Youth Fest was held in collaboration with the Electronic Sports World Cup 2008 Malaysia. This was an international tournament where Team Malaysia headed to San Jose, USA for the global grand finals and came home with a Silver Medal. This also created the opportunity for the pro-gramers, Team Kingsurf who play DotA to meet with the Prime Minister! Thanks to the industrious team at Go International Group for helping make history as they were the FIRST VIDEO GAMERS TO MEET A PRIME MINISTER in Malaysia. The sad news is that in March 2009, ESWC’s main organiser GAMES SERVICES based in Paris, France announced that the company had gone under receivership and will no longer be able to hold the international tournament. That news left the world shocked and saddened as it was the ‘indie’ big brother of video games championships. We are still awaiting news on the possibility of ESWC being revived…

DoTA? No worries la, it's gonna be in the competition since whoever at the kick off event should be able to spot SMM logo on the stage's backdrop. brows.gif

But going to Sweden? That's depends on their funding and sponsorships, I guess. Because last year, CS were left behind while DoTA was given the ticket to San Jose for ESWC GF and Go.Int promised that 2009 will be CS1.6's turn. But unfortunately since ESWC already GG, DH became the subs loh.

My vote for the single player game for DH would be Trackmania, because the game together with CS got ditched by WCG Malaysia. So, DH (if they decide to put TMN on their list of course) would be the only international event for us. cry.gif

But of course, I know the fact that so little competitive TMN drivers around and somehow DH Sweden also haven't announced their Winter games, let's just see then. nod.gif

hi all! thanks for your support so far...

Although it's only the first year for GO.esc, we truly believe that this tournament is meant to grow up to become a nice annual regional / international (in two years) event which will attract casual and pro-gamers alike.

For our qualifiers this year, we're offering Malaysian Counter Strike 1.6 gamers the chance to represent our country in Sweden at DreamHack. Since we also received good feedback and also requests from CS teams from Hong Kong, Brunei, Australia etc, we will be opening up another segment where regional teams can come and play with local Malaysian teams. We will announce the format of this in the next few weeks.

Meanwhile, yes, we ran a poll asking who should we send to Sweden aside from the CS team... and here are the answers!

Other (Starcraft: Broodwar) 66%
FIFA09 (single player) 15%
DotA (5-persons) 8%
Streetfighter (single player) 6%
Indie Band 2%
Guitar Hero (single player) 1%
Blogger 1%
Trackmania (single player) 1%

Results for our other poll about "I compete in e-sports tournament for...":
-- Chance to compete internationally 42%
-- Fame & Recognition 19%
-- Money 18%
-- Career enhancement 11%
-- Sponsors Prizes 10%

Come join in the fun!

Hi guys,

This is the update that I've found from DreamHack Winter 2009.

QUOTE

Tournaments at DreamHack Winter 2009
Counter-Strike 1.6
World Of Warcraft
DotA
Street Fighter IV
Tekken6
Quake Forever: Quake World
Quake Forever: Quake Live

Personally, from my own view, we have to wait for more games to be announced before Go.ESC can make any decision to include more games for qualifier for DreamHack.

More games to come as we wait for any confirmation from Go International Group.

Judging from the new list, IMHO the second team to DH should be DoTA, as local teams has proven themselves numerous times before. But then DH gave an impression at the end of the announcement that there could be more games, so I support TPK view that it's better to wait for more. But then also, time is ticking... brows.gif

On another news, China also got their own DH qualifier through CPL. The official game is...Street Fighter IV. Ok m00t, you know where to go compete alrdy. tongue.gif

We are waiting for the organizers to make an announcement next week. I have spoke to Jasmine and she told us to be patient as she would be making those announcements next week.

Speaking of Johor qualifier, may I know how many teams in Johor are interested to join the Johor qualifier? Sources said that there might be not enough teams to compete in Johor Bahru

For the teams who haven't registered your teams, please click on this link to register your teams:-

DreamHack CS 1.6 Qualifier Registration Form.

For the other games, feel free to click this link to register yourself for other games:

GO.Esc Games Registration Form.

As far as i'm being told, they are cooling down for fasting month, and will be at Kuching for the next qualifier on 3 October.

JB qualifier might be scrapped off if there are lack of teams there and will be replaced by another qualifier in KL.

I try my best to get the news from them as soon as possible. Keep all of you posted about this.

fasting month's over. and i think why very little teams registered for jb quali is because the date wasnt announced. there are ppl who are willing to travel, but they need to know the dates early so plans can be made.

I know, since they wanted to know how's the response from JB. They even asked Ks Cybercafe (if i'm not mistaken) to get the participants. So far, only one team registered online for JB qualifier. That led to the possibility of JB qualifier might be scrapped.

With WCG is on this weekend, it gonna be a serious hell of month for gamers sleep.gif'

AhBzaiFTW, they have decided to cancel Johor qualifiers due to unforeseen circumstances.

Well, since Kch's qualifier is over, the next stop will be FTZ.Asia Subang on the weekend. The final chance to qualify for DreamHack would be at 1 Utama, days before the GrandFinal itself.

Er, not an organizing team. SpotGamers is the official media for DreamHack Malaysia biggrin.gif

Added on October 8, 2009, 9:29 pmGuys, this is a very important announcement

FTZ.ASIA SUBANG WILL BE THE FINAL QUALIFIER FOR DREAMHACK

Which means 4 teams will qualify from this qualifier, joining the other 4 teams who have qualified previously (2 from Penang and 2 from Kuching)

And please take note that with that decision, the planned 1 Utama Qualifier has been CALLED OFF.

I will update the news at SpotGamers and this is an official news. Thanks smile.gif

The one that Trackmania.se posted is DH-GBG-Mappack.rar while the (currently 404 error) one at DH Summer site is DHS09-Mappack.zip.
Trackmania.se actually still hosted the latter file (you just need to change the link name.), I alrdy compare both and it doesn't have the same contents.

Just in case and for everybody's benefit, here is DHS09-Mappack.zip : http://www.mediafire.com/?cyw2mydljyw

rounds per challenge means that u race 5 times at 1 map
just to get to that 100 points
if nobody gets 100 in 5 laps in 1 map
we just take the scores from there on and move to the next map
anyway we still just play 3 maps for semis

to be honest, i just assume the things that i said above happens tongue.gif
need to test the server itself later on

Team Rv.Razer does Brunei proud in Dreamhack Tournament

user posted image

E-Sports has come a long way in today's gaming industry. It has also captivated and captured the attention of audiences worldwide with major sponsors supporting world events. One such event is the Dreamhack Tournament, which is listed in the Guinness World Records as the world's largest LAN and Digital Festival with attendance from over 11,200 nationals from around the globe.

Team Rv.Razer, a professional gaming team that represents Brunei in international events and one of the Sultanate's best teams, recently participated in the Dreamhack Qualifiers in Kuching from October 2 to 5 and brought home the winning title as champions.

Their victory in the event qualified and secured them a spot in the Dreamhack Grand Finals in Kuala Lumpur from October 17 to 18. The champion team in the tournament would win an all-expense paid trip to Sweden to vie for the grand title against world-renowned teams.

After an intense series of matches against Malaysia's top teams, Rv played an intense final against Team LZ, the best team in Malaysia. They garnered a final score of 16-14, a close match between the two professional teams.

Team Rv claimed second place in the grand finals and once again did Brunei proud. Although they did not win an all-expense paid trip to the grand event in Jankoping, Sweden, they will still compete in the European state with the help of their sponsors. It is after all, a-once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

They have also participated and emerged victorious in other events such as the World Cyber Games, GX League (Singapore), Cyber Athlete Professional League, Electronic Sports World Cup and the Brunei Cyber Games among others.

Team Rv was established in 2005 and comprises five members, all of which are working professionals and fresh graduates.

They are sponsored by Razer, one of the world's best producers in gaming peripherals, and local sponsors include C-Wave, Netcom and TTCO. They have achieved tremendous success in various events and raised the Brunei flag high during the competitions. They also hope to inspire and encourage youths to work hard to achieve their goals in life and prioritise their education above all else.
