u can use d windows based flasher according to sources i've read.

clear cmos, unplug d power source & wait for bout 1 min. try to on again.

try to boot w/ one stick of ram @ d dimm nearest to cpu area?

plug out all d power connectors on mobo, take out d battery & leave it for hours... that's 2nd last resort. last one should be hot flash...

which bios u flashed & how it was done? i've tried those provided by pc criminal @ xs w/ d windows flasher everything was ok, but i found 'em not suitable for my x4 810 so i reverted back to official bios which is 04/24/09.

hotflash mean get an exactly same board w/ healthy bios chip boot up & go into dos flashin mode, unplug d healthy chip & plug in d sick bios chip & finally run d bios flasher. voila... after this d sick bios chip is healthy again... sounds simple but not so simple rite?

bios date 06/29/09? i had problem too after flashed, but after clear cmos & unplug power source then managed to boot up, try few attempts but not really d one for my chip (to be honest i've found none is suitable atm or i'm too new to this ). finally i gave up & flashed back d official bios.

yup, patience is d key, which some of here don't have, includin me...

there's no problem stressin for 1 hour or 2 as long as d volt is friendly enuf, d friendly could be subjective but i never prime my chip @ > 1.5v for hours, that wud be insane unless cooling is not a concern. 30 mins of p95 w/ time to run each fft @ default (15mins) doesn't really stress much of ya oc'ed setup, most likely u'll end up runnin 2~3 test only which imo is not enuf to justify TOTAL stability.

after countless time of restarts, i come to realize that d board is not as forgivin as dfi. in case of vcore and/or not enuf, dfi board will just fail in p95 but on biostar there's no room for p95 to fail coz it'll restart rite way....



it's either my head or d board/ram need to burn in b4 headin for further mileage...

kit_kit is sellin it @ a knock down price = RM355 ONLY, grab it fast while stock last...

ain't too gud for my chip, guess it is made for x2 550BE coz pc criminal @ xs is doin really gud w/ d board...

msi 790gx-g65 was on my mind b4, but d bigger price tag really push me away from gettin it. it's still within friendly range in lyn (last time i checked it was sellin @ RM475) thou it's RM125 more expensive than kit_kit's special price for 790gx a3+. but in sgp, d diff between d 2 is a whoppin $95 difference which is approximately RM233. it was a clear choice for me back then when i purchased d a3+ on last friday.

for a board that cost only RM355 for a full solid caps, w/ cf, firewire, full size atx (unlike other 790gx series which is not full sized atx) & etc... what else u could ask for... a steal i'd say...

board is OK only for my chip but samples in xs show they're gud enuf for X2 550BE @ quad, it can even handle a 955BE pretty well...

d new dual plane boards really improved alot imo (those newer boards w/ 4+1 pwm @ cpu & 2 pwm @ mem like 790gxe 128m and 790gx a3+), u can see better components are used on 'em. i did prime w/ 1.42v (790gxe 128m) b4 & i think i got a ss showin prime @ 1.3xV for long hours but nothing seems to be wrong w/ it. i didn't get any complaint from d buyer oso who's also runnin an unlocked x2 550BE on it. d important thing is to keep d mosfets cooled...

no comment for d ram as i'm ddr3 newbie...

dual plane = those boards w/ 4 + 1 pwm = generally newer boards from biostar = 790gxe 128m + 790gx a3+ are 2 of 'em.

to go for it or not really depend on ya moolah, RM500+ is just nice for a 790gx a3+ and a pair of kvr (2nd hand preferred) provided kit_kit still have stock coz i asked him/her few days back he/she mentioned that d stock available was few piece only after that d price will go back to RM37x/38x...

there are only few board manufacturers use award bios, dfi, giga & jetway iirc...

doesn't really matter coz we're not usin d same chip. i'm on 04/29/09 official bios as per my ss.

could those from china/taiwan? never see one in sgp thou, it's all white box over here...

btw, a 'lil update, d board and / or ram sure take time to warm up coz i was havin headache gettin 'em stable > 1 hours yesterday but today they show some improvements which is comfortin...

u can always undervolt & tighten d timin even d pair/stick rated @ higher volt/ timin. it's all bout luck in gettin sticks w/ better chipset & not forgettin some skills & time in tweakin.

patience is d key, gonna take it slow & easy, but w/ those kinda timin, i'm sure they'll hit d wall soon...

gotta agree w/ that bro. prime doesn't necessarily guarantee total stability, but it'll give u some idea how stable d overclocked setup is.

i thought ur on e8400 which is doin 4.0GHz atm, could be even higher as d result is not a finished product yet...

would like to keep d volt down a 'lil but not now perhaps, i'll be damn happy if it can do 3.5GHz @ 1.328v, just like what dfi managed to do.

as mentioned bro, there's no guarantee in unlockin but gettin d same batch like those proven batch definitely boost up d possibility of havin a healthy unlockable cores.

if $$$ is a concern, biostar is d only choice, i doubt that asus/gigabyte gonna cost < RM500. when d diff is about RM150 or above, it's obvious to me which i'd go for if i'm on tight budget. mind not bout d latest bios can't unlock cores coz there will always be beta bioses provided in forums like xs & bbs.

i won't say there'll be totally no side effect after unlockin, but as long as ur runnin 'em w acceptable volt for 24/7, d unlocked cores should be able to last as long as d others.
