wei wei wei...

CPUs used to be powered by the 20 pin main power cable (now 24pin). Almost all current motherboards power their CPU with a 12 volt CPU power cable. There are two kinds: the 4 pin 12V cable and the 8 pin 12V cable. The 4 pin cable is often called a P4 cable and the 8 pin cable is called an EPS12V cable.

and ofcourse it's for cpu stability..

if we talking about PCI-E connector.. that's a different socket..
normally have
-6pin
-8pin

that's why some manufacturer use pci-e connector with different colour (red)..

but actually we cannot plug them in coz different connector..

actually it's a better practice to push cpu/ram only..
after getting the stable setup for the each of them later play with other things..
would appreciate to give all the setting details..

it could be caused by something else like nb freq or others that we not notice..
7cl @1600 is already tight.. certain freq convenience with certain timing.. some not even stable if we set it loose..

the best way push the ram first without involving others such as mobo n cpu..
let it at default and see how far the ram can go..
