I first saw this at ALL IT Digital Mall, Section 14 a few weeks back. Pricing then was RM459 I think.

While I liked the fact that it is able to play AVI and RMBV formats, I was not impressed with how it looked (the casing)

Yes the casing looks crappy but it has a touch sensitive buttons in front in blue colour, if there is any consolation.
What made me take notice was it had HD playback for both RMVB/AVI/MOV/MKV which WDTV cannot do at this moment
Also the HDMI Cable is supplied with the unit. ( HDMI cable is not cheap by the way)
Most places are able to offer at a discounted price of RM 399.00

richard apparently the xtremer surpasses the oplay in capability and uses a more advance chipset.. (found in their website FAQ)

Yes, I have noticed. Alas, holding off til after the upcoming KLIAV show. See if there's anything interesting there or not. It's gonna be a major "overhaul" for me since I will need to change my router (an old Gigabyte .11g draft), set up a NAS, etc. Fortunately, PC Fair is end of the month too

cos 1st and foremost these MKV players are designed with video playback priority first .. rather than just being wireless audio streamers.
(and no one muxes APE and FLAC into their Movie audio tracks)

Yup... I would go for a media player with future firmware upgrade as it will definitely solve some of the player problem from time to time.... My RCA L8H does not have firmware upgrade... crap!

The cheapest mkv and bdmv player I can find right now is from egreat. Bought it for RM 580 from a forummer. It uses the same sigma chip is DVICO. Does anyone know what chip this media player uses?

egreat use sigma chip. It's not rmvb, but bdmv (blu-ray struture file). So far only xtreamer can play rmvb too. Just put an order today at RM 620 with free wifi dongle.
